Everytime I come here there is never anyone else eating at the dining tables. Also everytime I come here my experience just gets worse. We were the only ones and the waiter took forever to come ask what we wanted to drink, bring the drinks, take our order, and deliver the bill. I just don’t get it. Maybe I just have bad luck. The inside is very clean though. I have to give them that. The apps and sushi here are not too bad. I would stay away from the General chicken. It just tastes like the frozen ones you can buy at any super market. Overall my experience here has been pretty meh. I think if I decide to come back, I’ll try the Hibachi side.

Loved it! Spunky, funny waitress. My boyfriend said he had some of the best blackened tuna he’s ever had there. Yummy generous drinks.

Our first time here we fell in love! Our waitress was Allie. She’s great! Hibachi was great. Food’s fresh. Service is fast and you feel like you’re being taken care of. This place is a hidden gem. It’s never packed and the food has been awesome every time! MUSTTRY: Hawaiian sushi roll, celebration(alcoholic drink) blackened tuna sashimi. Request: Allie or Evelyn. Both rock star servers!

Came here for hibachi a few weeks ago, and it was pretty good! I got sushi to start, and it was fresh, and full of flavor. HIbachi was very entertaining, and we enjoyed it. I got filet mignon and shrimp — meat and shrimp were cooked to perfection, no issues there. I got the rainbow roll, and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t know this place was THE spot to hang out on Fri nights and the weekends — it was hoppin! When you walk in, it’s all lights and there’s a huge bar. Then you walk in to the left and there’s the hibachi spot. When it’s someone’s birthday, a few staff come out with drums and sing Happy Birthday hibachi style. Quite entertaining. Desserts included fried bananas and bombas :) I’d return if I’m in the area!

My husband and I ended up at Sawa on a whim, and we could not be more satisfied. We love sushi, and this may be our new haunt. Our server, Maddie, was attentive, enthusiastic, and fun. The food was incredible(try the sashimi entrée and jalapeño yellowtail!). The atmosphere was comfortable, and I adored the decoration.

Let me start by saying I get one day off every 3 weeks… We started our family day with a lovely hike, after that we decided a nice Japanese style dinner would be great. The six of us decided to try sawa. We were immediately greeted by a lovely man who sat us promptly, after 10 minutes Tonya came over and asked for a drink order, we ordered drinks and waited for her return. We then ordered apps and our dinners, but had a question regarding the lobster tail she never came back I had to go search for her in the restaurant. She still hadn’t found out the answer to our question. The Mai tais we had ordered were a bit on the sour side, we asked for a scorpion bowl and said we were more than happy to pay for the mai tais(which we did) her response«you know it’s the same thing??? Uhm no no it’s not, she delivered the scorpion and never came back! I had to get up again and ask for drink refills and boxes to go… The food was good not great! The chef was great very fun! The busser/food runner tony was awesome! The server was despicable! Idk how she keeps her job! She ruined my only day off in a month!

Rating was: 2.5÷5. The modern and clean Asian décor of the bar and dining area were pleasant. There was one big TV screen near the tall Buddha sculpture. The $ 7.50 red sangria cocktail wasn’t strong. The highlight of the hibachi experience was the interactive spectacle with the Chef: fire tower coming out of onion rings, doing ping pong motion with an egg on a spatula, etc. The hibachi chicken with fried rice was standard. The size portion of tender chicken was fair. The hibachi came with: — a standard small iceberg lettuce with ginger dressing and, — a miso soup with sliced mushrooms. The $ 12.49 Lollipop(6 pieces) and $ 14.95 Angel rolls(8 pieces) were standard Americanized sushi. Ingredients were fresh. Coupons can be found sometimes in your mailbox. It was easy and free to park on the shopping center parking lot.

Staff is friendly but the food is not… ordered steak and shrimp from the hibachi and it came back cold and old. I will never go back… the drinks are not worth the poor quality of the food.

Came in on a Sunday night as a party for two. We really liked the atmosphere when we first went inside. We decided to be seated in the dining area but they also have a bar and hibachi area. They have a good sized menu with a lot to choose from. We decided to order green tea, two appetizers, and two entrees. We had a great waitress on our first visit, very kind and friendly and she gave us our food at the right time. The presentation was great on all the food we ordered and of course the food tasted just as good! Will definitely be coming back again!

Great new place! We have needed a decent hibachi place around here and the others just fall short. Great environment, food is reasonably priced.

My experience can simply be summarized by: «Don’t come to eat sushi in Hibachi Restaurant». Food is tasteless and sushi are subpar(although fish is fresh). I don’t like to neat pick but when you ask a waiter for Unagi roll and she brings you some beef dish, sushi is not their specialty. Will have to try hibachi another day.

I have been to a few different Japanese restaurants and this place is top of the food chain. The food was fantastic, the chef was amazingly talented, the service was phenomenal. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys great food and a great atmosphere. Amazing!

We were beyond impressed with our Hibachi Chef. He was skilled, funny, and genuinely enjoying what he was doing. There is something about watching your food be prepared in front of you, getting Sake squirted in your mouth, and catching a piece of broccoli in your mouth on the first try that enhances the overall experience. I had the Lollipop Sushi and Striped Sea Bass sashimi. It was all so fresh. Not one bit of fishiness, no strange textures, and very attractive display. My friends got the chicken/filet mignon combo, and the other couple got salmon. Everyone was VERY happy with their meals, the flavors, and the way it was cooked. Most of us at the table could qualify as food snobs, so I would say that’s a good indication that you should run, not walk, to Sawa as soon as you get a little extra cash in your pocket or you’re celebrating something. Their beef satay was REALLY good too. Tender and not fatty. Great sauces — ginger sauce, peanut sauce, chili sauce, a creamy sauce that was onion-y — all good and not super sweet or super salty. And for dessert, try the Bombas. I negated my no-dairy rule just to try these, and it was so worth it. They have one with sorbetto too if you can’t do the dairy. I will definitely be back.

Their drinks were well done and the food was above average. I had hibachi(not at a hibachi table) and several maki rolls and both were great although in the surrounding areas there is better hibachi(kyoto) and better sushi(kenichi).

I walked into Sawa not knowing what to expect. There are so many good hibachi/sushi restaurants around, so I came in with high expectations, Sawa did not disappoint! First, the décor of the restaurant is so chic and modern. Sawa does not look like you typical Asian restaurant. They even have white chairs for the hibachi section!(so daring lol!) The food was delicious, especially the appetizers. My friend and I shared the blue crab quesadillas and mini duck buns. The blue crab quesadillas had a sweet crab rangoon like filling with a distinct crab taste. The mini duck buns were such a bargain for the price. They give you a generous portion of perfectly cooked sliced duck, three buns, scallions, cucumbers, and a tasty hoisin sauce. For our main entrees we shared a hibachi filet mignon and two rolls. The hibachi filet was good but the rice was very dry. The basic rolls were average, but the fish was fresh. Would I come again? Yes! Next time I’ll sit at the bar and enjoy an adult beverage :)

I came here for lunch with my bestfriend and it was delicious! It was our first time here and I will definitely be coming back again. It looks like a very nice atmosphere for drinks during the night. Beautifully decorated inside! As for food, we enjoyed everything! For appetizers we had the blue crab quesidillas which were delicious, creamy and extra cheesy and you tasted the real crab meat in them. If you’re not a fan of creamy, cheesy things I don’t suggest this. The mini Peking duck buns were delicious! You get pieces of duck, 3 buns and cucumbers and scallions accompanied with a hoisin sauce. For lunch we ordered a filet meal and a two roll maki special. Filet was cooked perfectly and was very tender. Only downside is the rice was a bit dry. The maki rolls tasted fresh and delicious as well! Looking forward to trying more food from them! Service was also great!

We have been here three times in a relatively short period so you know it’s good :) twice for dinner and once for lunch. The drinks here are amazing. We have had the scorpion bowl twice(yes-once for lunch!) and the other time we both ordered mai tai and I «accidentally» ordered two they were so good! Let’s talk food. I ordered sushi each time. The first time I ordered the spicy tuna/salmon combo which is a pretty safe bet. It was good, but definitely overshadowed with what I ordered the next two times. I ordered the double trip roll which was so delicious that my husband who doesn’t eat sushi, ordered it next time we went. Finally I got a special roll the waitress suggested which was just amazing — crunch, flavor, delicious. The other times hubby ordered General Tsao’s chicken which was super tasty, not overly fried like some places. The only bad thing is that they waited so long to come to Shrewsbury!

We stopped in here for a late dinner on a weeknight. Usually that would doom one to mediocre food served by annoyed staff but not here. Our server was super friendly and helpful and very patient with my indecisive dining companions. The restaurant itself has a very neat atmosphere of great décor and pretty lights. They have a section for hibachi style food as well as an area where you can order off of a regular menu. Their bar in the middle of the restaurant is very pretty. We ordered gyoza and crab rangoons for appetizers. Both were delicious. I ordered crispy peanut chicken which was served over a bed of mixed greens. My husband ordered the stir fried udon with chicken and it was difficult to resist switching entrees with him. Both were very tasty but his entrée was positively addictive. My father and stepmother ordered the teriyaki chicken and the teriyaki steak. They both thoroughly enjoyed their meals. We definitely plan on returning to try some of their other menu options next time we’re in the area.
