UFC Gym

My boyfriend and I dropped by for a workout to check out this location because our local location didn’t have a good option for a Friday night workout. I must say — we were extremely lucky that on that day Eric S. took over that Friday night Fight Fit class.
Eric gave us an amazingly fun workout that hit most of our body parts! He has greatly positive attitude, and gets us motivated throughout the workout. I liked that he did a thorough warm up, including hip flexers (I was happy that my guy saw that guys work that area too), Eric’s mix of bag and floor work was excellent, he went around with pads quite a lot of one-​on-​one (guys don’t take that for granted, I unfortunately don’t get this in my gym), and I especially liked his cool down at the end with calm breathing!

We liked his workout so much we came back the following Saturday on the drive back to VA. AND that workout was even better! Thank you again, Eric!
We met a couple of other trainers/​owners and they were both very nice and welcoming. They even invited us out for that night’s UFC fight hang out (we couldn’t make it since we had to get on the road).
I will come back to this gym when I am in the area of passing by for sure!
Oh, and Eric is in amazing shape! The amount of dedication and hard work that must take is definitely inspiring!

I just found out in June that I have been getting billed since 2013 on a quarterly basis for $ 73.83. Even though I have documentation showing that the membership was canceled in person by my wife in 2013. This is similar to the already reported scam with a young person’s membership with ufc. My son was 17 at the time. When I called to try and straighten this out I was getting the runaround. I have been in touch with the Better Business Bureau to no avail since the establishment is not owning up to the money that is owed me. According to the business I need to produce a copy of an email with the cancellation verification from over 2 years ago for them to try and help me. When I spoke to the manager he explained that it is not Ufc’s problem but LA kickboxing since they were the business that we started with. It did not matter that the last 8 payments on a quarterly basis were made out to UFC of Shrewsbury, via CLUB READY billing. The quarterly payment slipped through the cracks on my wifes AMEX card. I am in touch with the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs and the Federal Trade Commission, since I am out $ 665 due to this scam of a contract, which by the way was never even signed or authorized by my wife, because she never agreed to it. It was still submitted. What a rip off!!! I still have a copy of the unsigned contract. I tried to work it out with the regional manager who copped an attitude after I insisted on being explained the process for which I will get my money back. All call backs have ceased. I guess small claims court is the next step. This is not over!
Unfortunately I have to give it a one star rating just to post it. If it was possible I wouldn’t even give it a one star due to the underhanded methods

If you are looking for a great workout and/​or get rid of some of the daily frustrations, then this is the place for you. I have heard the negatives about the old owners and I can say the new ones are doing a great job. I learned about the UFC GYM from people at work and decided I want to check it out.
It wasn’t what I expected at all. Everyone is very friendly; owners, coaches and even members. It isn’t about how hard you can hit, kick or grunt. The coaches there do a great job in keeping you moving and motivated with positive reinforcement. They never make you feel like you are horrible but make you want to work harder and push yourself. As Coach Josh says often, «it isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon.»
I am a big guy and usually feel self-​conscious going to some local $ 20 gyms but I don’t feel like that here at all. Not even a little bit and I am the biggest guy there. (hopefully not for long).
Yes the price might seem high but for me it is worth it for what you are getting. It is like having a personal trainer every time you go in. If you are questioning or thinking about joining this gym I highly recommend their free intro class. You will leave exhausted but wanting more.

I am updating my review based on a gracious note I received from the gym’s new owner in February 2015.
I don’t have any actual basis for rating the place ( Unilocal reviews must carry a star rating, so I went for the middle three-​stars).
I reckon the place’s level of customer service can only go up from the previous owners, so that’s a start.
I wish the new owners good luck.
