Armand’s Chicago Pizzeria

I was so surprised how amazing the food was here!!! Our waitress was awesome and the owner is such a live spirit! He was friendly, energetic and all around a great person to sit and chat with. Once I left I thought about that pizza for a week and had to make a special trip to experience it again and it was just as amazing the second time!

Armand’s Chicago Pizza, Silver Spring is amazing! I have not had this caliber deep dish pizza since the 80’s. Cal, the owner stood and talked with me for a while, in conversation found out that this was the same business I had the last perfect Chicago in, in Chevy Chase area years ago. He sets the atmosphere, if you are looking for the best meal, right price and enjoyable staff, stop in and see Cal and judge for yourself!- I will ALWAYS make a point to come here when traveling through DC area!

The food has always been great (I’ve been ordering from here about 2 years), and the service has definitely increased in the past few months. Servers are definitely more attentive and the delivery drivers are solid. One driver used to refuse to leave his car and would make us come out to get pizza from him, which can be a bit of a hike if you’re in a high-​rise, but a discussion with the manager when placing an order seems to have fixed that.
Cal was nice when he handled my complaint, which is why I decided to write this review. It seems that others have had a different experience, so I wanted to share mine.

I went on May 18, I was the only one there at 12 noon, so why 4 stars now? One word CAL. You were there and gave excellent service, very upbeat and personable. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Please continue training your staff and I and others will take note and continue to update the Unilocal reviews. THANKS

MOLDED PARMASAN Cheese and FUNKY tasting Marinade sauce…
I’m not an English Teacher or Pizza Baker… But even 10 years from now I will remember this bad experience. Readers can take from it what they want, that’s why I didn’t leave out the fact that it happened last year.
It was indeed the marinara sauce… and there was nothing wrong with the mozzarella, but multiple shakers of Parmasan cheese had turned blue cheese in the bottom, this included the shakers on the tables and the shakers on a tray.
You mentioned that you resolved the issue thru a different format, but not with us, so were there others that complaint? If you would have contacted us back when it happened, I would have had the details for you who the manager was and the staff…

Meh, I’ve experienced better is right. I’ve had Armand’s before and the Greek Pizza was amazing. I was craving it, so I ordered it for delivery… what I received was red bell peppers on a cheese pizza. While ordering, the lady recommended red sauce instead of white, so I said «okay», but nowhere did that mean that I was getting a whole different pizza! So disappointing.

We can’t say enough about Armand’s! The pizza, service and Monday BOGO ½ deal are awesome!
Deep dish is heavenly and Armand’s is amazing!
Our server Nora was as wonderful as can be and Will (shift manager) was very kind and attentive! We look forward to another trip to Armand’s!!! DELISH! Highly recommend!

This place has delicious pizza if you’re looking for good Chicago style pizza! Staff and owners are very nice and welcoming! I love the cheeses take subs. Def gotta have those! Chicken wings and Chicago Combo pizza are winners. Great family place!

I recent saw a WETA special on pizza in DC and couldn’t believe there was a Chicago-​style pizza place just around the corner from where I live! Since I’m moving out of the area soon I had to try it. I got the Chicago combo and margarita thin crust for takeout. When I went to pick up my pizza I noticed that the interior of the restaurant is super cute and family-​friendly, and they even have a kids movie night. It would probably have enhanced my pizza-​eating experience to have eaten in … Regardless, the pizza was good. Not amazing, not Chicago, but good. The crust was tasty, though I thought the Chicago-​style one was too thin and the thin crust wasn’t thin enough. Price was reasonable — $ 17 – 19 for a large.

I have noticed that every review that offers critique to Armands sets their manager Cal off.
Cal, relax. You should take the reviews and learn from them. Not get mad at people for being honest. The pizza is fine there. Nothing spectacular. As many others have complained, the service is terrible. We can sit there for 10 minutes with empty glasses while your servers are behind the counter goofing off. They are nice but inattentive.
Also, you have a sign on the wall, Best Steak and Cheese within 100 miles. Really? maybe within a mile, but certainly not 100.
Again, Cal, don’t be so angry with your customers who write reviews. Learn from them and make improvements.

We’ve been customers for over a decade. After new ownership a lot has changed and not for the better. Salad bar is gone, large portion of beer & wine selection has been removed. It seems cutting cost is more of a priority than keeping and gaining new customers. The quality of the food has also dwindled.

Ok so I’ve never had Chicago Deep Dish Pizza nor been to Chicago, but I’ve been hearing so much about this pizza that I thought I would take a shout.
I came here on a Wednesday night! Wednesday night happens to be Kid’s movie night. This did not deter me though haha. I was able to get a seat in a cozy booth perfect for 1. I ordered a margherita pizza (fresh mozzarella and bazil) — I didn’t want to be too risky given it was my first time. There were at least 15 kids there will parents, but I was still able to read my book while I waited.
When my pizza arrived I was so excited! It really is deep! Oh and the movie of the night — SANDLOT! You can’t ask for a better movie! The pizza was delicious! I ordered a medium pizza and ate 4 slices out of the 6 (took the 2 to go)! The service was great! There is a real family atmosphere here! Even the owner walked around and spoke to everyone.
I enjoyed myself so much, I even wrote a nice message on the back of the receipt. There are not may places that make you feel at home. Armand’s is home.

Awesome sauce and great thick Chicago style Pizza!

Before I begin the review I have to say we love your pizza place. We have been a customer for 10 years. However, something has changed with your deep dish pizza. Your crusts originally were large and thick. However, this is the second time we ordered pizza and we received not fully risen deep dish pizza with less sauce. Please bring back your original quality pizza. We are noticing the difference and were very bummed. Please fix it. We want our tried and true friend back.

Stopped in for a deep dish pizza with my family. Service is pretty slow, but the food is pretty good. I recommend the Chicago style deep dish pizza.

Well dig it!!! Service is slow as hell place is extremely out dated. The beer selection is small and the restrooms have herpes. The Cesar chicken salad was slammin, the deep dish pizza was Fiya

Average food, average service.
The lunch buffet is what I particularly frequent Armand’s for, but this place lacks fresh pizza.
They only serve the thick crust pizza first off, that looks like it’s been sitting under lights for several hours and while I know it’s Chicago deep dish, the Rockville location serves thick and thin slices which are delectable and frequent. This location also doesn’t serve any chicken pasta or soup or anything else with their buffet, just salad.
The staff… Eh. Nothing memorable.
Go here if your in a hurry or a pinch but that’s about it.

I hadn’t had a deep dish pizza in probably 8 years but I’d been craving one. I knew about Armand’s and had even read some Unilocal reviews but I never went because my girlfriend is Italian and usually very picky about what’s good pizza. After a movie it was my turn to pick the place for dinner, so I decided it was time to finally make the visit to Armand’s.
We thought about getting carry out, but I didn’t want my girlfriend to see my messy apartment so we dined in. The place is pretty small, a little dungy, and the décor is outdated. But so what, we were there for the famous Chicago style pizza. There were a few other patrons eating in, and others rolling in and out to pick up their orders. There was only one waiter on duty, a dopey young guy, and he seemed a little overwhelmed. We sat ourselves and I walked up to counter to grab a menu. When the waiter finally got to us and awkwardly took our order, it was clear this was a stoner who took the job for a little extra weed money and some good munchies food.
The food took a little longer than I thought it should have, but it was good when it came. Our Greek salad was big, but nothing to write home about. Pretty standard fare, and the dressing wasn’t anything special. Our pizza, a medium Original Chicago Combo, on the other hand, was everything I was expecting and more. This pizza was about an inch thick, packed with sausages pepperoni onions peppers mushroom and tons and tons of cheese. This thing was so good, a perfect way to pig out and have fun doing so. The crust was crispy and tasty too, but I didn’t eat too much crust to save room for the beautiful combination of everything else. I had barely eaten all day, but I still was full after two slices (- the crust) and some salad. We took the rest home, and I’m excited to eat the leftovers for lunch tomorrow.
All in all, it was a really good meal for a good price. The service wasn’t great, and in fact was pretty crappy, and the restaurant itself doesn’t look too nice, but the pizza is everything that you want it to be. Call in and take your pizza home to eat. That’s what I’m going to do the next time I go here, which will be pretty soon.

This is some KILLER deep dish. It’s DEEEEEEEEEP, maaaaaaaaaan. The only thing keeping this from getting five stars is the horrible parking lot. We’ve not eaten there a few times because we couldn’t park.
You are not going here for anything other than the pizza and the awesomeness of being in a historical Silver Spring institution that’s run by members of a band. I’ve been going here since the early 90’s. It hasn’t changed at all. It’s dark, it’s ugly, and it’s amazing pizza.
