Workers are very friendly and the tacos are great. Only downside is that some workers can’t speak English fluently, which slows down the line a little.

Shrimp fajitas are delicious. Chicken burrito was great. They cook their food when you order, so that’s a plus. Also, they give you a lot of food! I am satisfied, and would recommend to anyone to get a taste of Wheaton restaurant area…

4-stars for fast and friendly service – zero stars for the food. This is NOT Mexican food — having lived in Mexico and basically having had it be my staple throughout my adult life — this is nowhere in the vicinity of authentic Mexican fare! Had the camarones Entamados and what a colossal disappointment it was — over cooked shrimp w/basically flavorless raw tomatoes served with a salad(basically cheap iceberg lettuce). Perhaps the most egregious part of this meal was the 2-inch«tortillas» that came with the meal:) Doughy and awful:(One bright spot was the Chips and Salsa were on point ! It’s a shame because the staff is lovely and I really wanted to like the food — if you’re craving authentic Mexican fare then stay away from this place – it’s basically an El-Salvadorian imitation of Mexican street food !

Tortas and some sides are the only things I’ve tried here. Being in the industry I’m very skeptical about places like this one where you usually assume the standards are sub-par. Boy was I wrong. The owner is always there and I have witnessed good food handling practices. The chicken Milanese torta is by far the best torta I have ever tried period.

My son is now addicted to plantains. What a great meal at El Taco Loco. We loved the pollo tacos which are cooked to perfection like the meat fell off the bone. And that green salsa(salsa verde?) was perfect. The Res tacos are good too. The beef fajitas weren’t the star today, but the rice held its own. Looking forward to our next lunch.

Omg. I never knew this place existed even though I live in this area for the past 5 years! I ordered the cheese pupusas here and let me tell you, it’s delicious! I haven’t have good cheese pupusas in a longggg time lol. I also ordered their carne asada tacos but in my opinion, they are only okay okay. Nonetheless, I highly recommend!

The lady behind the counter grabbed torta toppings with her bare hands while on the phone. I left without ordering. Are there negative stars for sanitation violations?

Never even got a chance to try them. The«customer service» on the phone was hilarious though. I called to ask if they served chicken Pupusas but was schooled on how that is not Salvadorian. Thanks por nada!

I would have rated the restaurant 4 or 5 stars but the service of the attending cashier came off rude. Wouldn’t reply to a «thank you» and the overall tone of voice was snappy. Food was excellent but torta was a bit too toasty.

I love love love their food! I’ve tried every taco on the menu and you defiantly can NOT! Go wrong with any of them. The PUPUSAS! are awesome! The quesadilla’s are my son’s favorite and no meal is complete without plantains, beans and sour cream. It’s the best in this area and I’ve tried others. I will and have gone out my way just to stop by and get lunch or dinner! The food is freshly made when you order there is no half stepping there. The restaurant is clean I have no complaints!

Tried this place for the first time, I heard great reviews and I was in the area. I loooove Mexican food so I tried a few of the items, enchiladas and tamales. The tamales were watery and falling apart and had one small piece of chicken in them. The enchiladas were served on a hard flat tortillas, the meat was good, hence the star but the veggies tasted a bit stakes. They may be a great taco establishment but they’re not good for tamales and enchiladas.

I’ve been here about five times to eat tacos and am finally decided about writing a review. From my experience, one issue here is that the service really depends on who is taking your order. I’ve dealt with several different women working at the counter and a couple of them were super sweet. A couple of other ones were not particularly friendly. Regarding the food, I’ve had the tacos and pupusas. Great pupusa, but the tacos have been less consistent. The pork tacos have been really greasy while the beef tacos have been better. I supposed this is probably partially because pork is pork, but I’m not a huge fan of their carnitas or al pastor. I’ve wanted to like them, but probably wouldn’t order them again. I really would like to have this place be a go-to, but am not sure I am convinced.

Everything you could want out of a taco shop. We tried four different types of taco, and all of them were excellent. The chicken and beef in particular were delicious, but the two different types of pork were both quite tasty as well. Plus, despite the quality, the food comes out quick and the prices are quite fair. All in all, I’d highly recommend giving it a try.

I am so happy we found El taco loco! This place has absolutely delicious food for such a great price. The place is clean and looks pretty new, which is probably why I had never been here before. It was my first visit here, but it most certainly won’t be my last! Came in to use the WiFi and try this place out. Unfortunately, when we came in the WiFi wasn’t working however Gordo, the owner’s son, immediately called Verizon to fix the situation and got me connected shortly after. I really appreciated his effort because we all know what a hassle calling customer service can be. The torta is DELICIOUS. We got the chicken milanesa(sp?) which is a breaded chicken sandwich and it was great. It had avocado on it which was amazing on its own. The steak and chicken tacos are also amazing. Super authentic with just cilantro and onion on top. We ended getting another order because it was that good. The meat is delicious, my boyfriend loved the steak and I absolutely loved the perfectly marinated chunks of white meat. The wait can be a little long but it’s because everything is made right then and there and it’s a family owned shop so there aren’t dozens of workers to cook your stuff right away. Trust me though, it is worth the wait. Plus, support your local businesses! Did I mention how affordable it is? We got chips and guacamole, two tacos, a torta and a water for 16 bucks. That’s a great price for the quality of their food! Definitely give this place a try!!!

The GOOD: they open early(10am) if you’re up for a late breakfast or early lunch. The food is fresh and made to order, and the servings are HUGE for the price. The burrito we ordered was the size of our Chihuahua pup. The atmosphere was well-lit, airy, and very clean. The sopa de res was not well-spiced, but it was fresh, and the broth had a nice, complex body that i can only achieve at home in an overnight crockpot recipe. The NOT-so-GOOD: service was not friendly or especially helpful, despite my fluent Spanish. Don’t come here if you are starving or otherwise on the verge of a hypoglycemic crash as it takes quite a while to get your food. It feels a little odd being the only patrons in a large-ish dining area. Their business would be improved if they acquired a beer/wine license.

Update: Tried the bean and cheese pupusas. They are delicious, and come with a spicy, almost kimchi-like slaw. === I recently moved to Wheaton, and needed a quick lunch before I went to buy some household goods. Enter: El Taco Loco. My wife and I parked in back, entered the restaurant, wandered down the stairs, and found ourselves in the simply furnished but relatively clean eating area. Being neither Spanish speakers nor Mexican food experts, my wife and I were mystified about a lot of the menu’s items. We settled on burritos: mine pollo(chicken – I know that much español) for $ 7, hers vegetarian for $ 6. I’m no burrito officianado, but this is my favorite burrito ever. Large wheat tortilla, a huge scoop of perfect rice, crisp lettuce, flavorful crispy chicken, black beans, avocado, and a delicious spicy green salsa on the side. I was very hungry when I got to El Taco Loco, and I was very full 2⁄3 of the way through my burrito. The leftover 1⁄3 of my burrito, eaten on the deck of my new home, was just as satisfying.

Finally went to eat here and was not as good as I was told. The tacos are what you expect in this area with little favor to it. But I did like that they fry the torilla in oil. I got an order of carne asada and I was disappointed. The horata was good tho. Pricing was okay.

Recommend the tacos and pupusas. They were flavorful and delicious. However, I do not recommend tamales, chips and guac, or plantains. Not worth the money and no outstanding flavors. Wouldn’t purchase again. Tacos and pupusas are a different story, though. They get my vote.

I’ve been back a few times since my last review and I think I’m slowly but surely getting hooked. My only complaint is that the last time I went the al pastor tacos weren’t available. It’s a good thing the carnitas tacos are equally as delicious!

2.5 stars that I round up to 3. I’ve had some okay things from El Taco Loco, mostly the carne asada and the taco lengua. However, the other tacos I’ve had(like the al pastor and carnitas) were pretty dry and tasteless. I got tacos to go, and they didn’t include any hot sauce. Service was disinterested — I asked for recommendations — and the guy shook his head and said no, he couldn’t recommend anything. The menu has empanadas and tamales on the menu, and when I ordered, I was told they were not available.
