Ellsworth-Roeder-Town Square Garage

As I was leaving today, an attendant handed me a slip of paper which stated New Parking Hours with big lettering stating THIS GARAGE.
Now there will be an attendant until 9pm starting July 20, 2015. Payment of $ 1.00/hr is still until 7pm, but now you’ll have to pay the piper if you exit before 9 pm.
I still like this garage. It’s better than paying with coins. It’s better than far gouging Bethesda. Best part: You are near everything in Downtown Silver Spring.

Its funny the things that make other things just that much better. And yes, that is my reason for giving a humble parking garage 4-​stars.
I come up to the AFI Cinema often. Before I started parking here — there was always the somewhat chaotic decision of where to park: the surface lot on the interior of the block of buildings opposite, the rare street space, the garage down the street, etc… but now, there’s no question. I just round the corner, take a little jag into the upper entrance and without a doubt — no matter what time of day I’ve come — I’m settled into a space with no trouble at all. If I can’t find one on the level I enter — I’ve only ever needed to look up one level.
Parking is free on weekends, but on weekdays/​evenings you’ll need to use the pay terminals near the elevator entrance or the drive out exit to park. I’ve only had to pay for parking once, but it didn’t strike me as being highway robbery. Don’t worry if you forget to cash out your stub by the elevator — there’s some parking near the exit set aside just for you to use to pay the ticket prior to leaving. Wide ramps (though they are 2-​way) make navigating between levels easy.
This garage is incredibly convenient to Town Square, AFI, City Place mall, movie theater and the host of eateries and shops you’ll find in the area. Us the pedestrian skybridge to get to the mall and the elevators & stairs on the side and end to get to the ground level.

This garage is large and modern, with over 1,200 spaces. There are electronic signs saying how many spaces are available on each level (unfortunately, these signs are often out-​of-​order). Special ramps allow you to move quickly between levels. There’s also a convenient pedestrian bridge to City Place. This is my preferred parking spot in Silver Spring!
