Stopped by last night around 5:10pm to pick up a video game for my nephew for Christmas that i had placed on hold. The location was decent, who i think was the manager even greeted me and asked if i needed help finding anything. I stood in line for literally 15 minutes, someone was trading a game system in at one register(obviously was gonna take a while) & the other cashier was ringing up the same person for the whole 15 minutes. When it was my turn to pay i walk up to the register & the cashier says«sorry» to me & gestures to a man that was still looking around the store the WHOLEENTIRE time that i was in line. He tells me that he needs to take him first, i ask«was i not in line?» he says«you were but he was waiting» uhm shouldnt you be waiting in line? isnt that where people wait to be rang up? Anyways he dismissed me and sent me back to my place in line instead of telling the man«Sorry, i have to take her because she was actually waiting in line».There was a nice girl in line also that said she worked there(but was off the clock) who agreed that the cashier was completely wrong & said that she wished she could help me(thanks girl! i appreciate you) I spent 20 minutes in that store just trying to pay. I wont be back to this location despite it being the closest to me. I dont go to video game stores to hang out, i want to get in, get treated fairly and get out!

This Gamestop on Colesville rd has great service and they extend the helping hand by trying to save you money. I exchanged my PS4 for the $ 250 dollar credit and I forgot to bring my hdmi and power cable to my controller and the manager Roddy I believe still gave me credit for it. I also purchased a new PS4 with that credit and he hooked me up with the Nathan Drake Edition with the 40% more Energy Efficient model… By the way my ps4 I exchanged was broke and they still gave me the credit. If you looking to be treated well go to this location!

Context: I been going to this particular Gamestop for about year because it close and I like to reserve worthwhile collector edition of games. Yes I seen the rant on Youtube(John Rambo and Silent Rob) from the former employee and aware of Gamestop questionable policies. I like getting certain games at the midnight launch because I’m a night owl and may play the game once I pick it up. The midnight launches actually allows me to meet the gamers in area. The Customer Service: After visiting the Gamestop for a while the employee got use to me and stop trying to up sale as much. If need be, I’m firm and just let them know I’m there for a certain reserve. Overall I had a good experience at this Gamestop. One employee even advise me not to get a certain Collector Edition and get regular edition because it wasn’t worth it. The same employee took the time to call another Gamestop to figure out if a game was available there. Keep in mind, the GS employee doesn’t get paid for recommending another GS store. Another example is when I reserve UMVC3 and the pre-order was for the wrong system, the store worked it out so that I could get the correct pre-order codes. The Current Management/Environment: The employees in this particular GS tend to be knowledgeable about games. I believe GS stop the terrible policy of not allowing the employees to not talk about games because I had numerous gaming related conversation. I believe the current store manager tries to setup an environment for gamers to feel comfortable. The store manager in fact had a «gaming» related conversation with me. From what I can tell outside looking in, the store manager is the one pulling the long hours and his employees seems to respect him. The Cons: I will acknowledge parking in the front of the store is terrible, so look for parking in the back. Also the Gamestop is close to Blair Highschool, so the store has to deal with a few crazy teenagers occasionally. Driving wise the location is kinda of hard to get to and may require a U-Turn to get to store depending on direction your coming from. As previously stated, there will be times waiting is required depending on when you visit the store. Bottom line: We should all know Gamestop ultimately a business and it out to make money. Now a days, we have different option like Amazon and Best Buy to see what pre-order items we prefer. But do we really believe Amazon or Best Buy cares more for gaming community and developers than Gamestop? So I recommend doing your research before you decide on where and how to purchase games. This location seems to try to follow the Gamestop’s Customer Lifecycle(See John Rambo rant on youtube) while setting up an environment where regulars are not being constantly hounded. It not the perfect location, but if you’re looking for reasonable Gamestop to get your games this is good location.

I went in late on a Sunday night, so the store was empty. I can see how parking would be a problem if anyone else had been there. There might be six-ish spots in front. I also got to the store from DC, so I could not turn left to get to it. It is hard to get to, but apparently if you turn right on University Blvd from Colesville, it comes back around directly next to the store. I drove around for maybe ten minutes to find a way in because you cannot U-Turn on that stretch of road. But, that frustration is of no fault to the store whatsoever. To the store! I had an AWESOME experience at this game store. I am generally pretty skeptical of the Game Stop franchise as a whole, so I was really surprised. I went in to buy a refurbed PS2 slim and a Kingdom Hearts game. Though the only PS2 games on the floor were all under $ 15, the associate as more than happy to get the game out for me as well as the system from the back. I had a coupon on my game stop Pro account online, but I did not have a printer at home, so intended to pull up the code in store to have them use it off my phone. But my phone wouldn’t bring the rewards website up, and when it did, I could only view the mobile site… which for some reason refused to allow me to redeem my points. The associate was SUPER patient, and actually pulled his phone from his pocket to let me use HIS phone instead. This worked, and I ended up, after my GS credit and coupon, paying only $ 20. Even though I was not a profitable sale for this store, they still treated me professionally and respectfully. For this treatment alone, I am willing to drive the half hour to a store where I felt valued as a customer and received such excellent assistance. I was in retail for seven years. I know how it goes, especially with an empty store on a Sunday night. I as thrilled with them. However, considering the store was empty, they probably could have spent some extra time organizing the shelves. While waiting for the associate to come in from the back, I perused the DS games. They were all out of alphabetical order, so I had a hard time kind of focusing on what I was looking at. Considering that was my only complaint about this store and trip, I think they did a great job.

What can I say? It’s a store where you buy video games. For the most part, the people who work there are pretty knowledgeable about any products and questions you might have. I’ve never had a problem here aside from a customer in front of me asking too many questions. I must warn you though, the line moves pretty slowly when they get busy. The people there will always try to upsale you, it’s there job. Don’t take it so personal. The one thing that really sucks there is the parking. Only a handful of parking spots and it’s an awkward set up.

If you have A LOT of time to kill, and for some reason have a «Waiting in line» Fetish, than this is the place to be! The gent behind the counter was friendly, courteous, polite. What he Really needs to be is a server in Fine dining, where he can take that time. Yet, there was a line that did not move, as he up selled as much as he could, every single customer. The transaction, simple as they were, took anywhere from 10−15m a person. Thats just insane. This was indeed a game stop. Completely halted, frozen in time, and not going anywhere. I get faster service ordering through online companies.
