Puerto El Triunfo

Simple… Just don’t go. Seriously! I was over charged for drinks, the portions were less than any other local TexMex/​Sal restaurants, the manager appeared angry when i approached her with bill questions… i could go on and on.

The food was ok, however, I would not recommend this place because of the service we received.
First, the margarita that my husband ordered had absolutely no tequila in it. We’ve been to plenty of places that are light on the tequila, but I am so sensitive to it that I can still detect it. This drink — nothing. Basically it was a glass of mixer for $ 8. You would think an authentic Salvadoran & Tex Mex restaurant would know how to make a margarita.
More concerning was our check at the end of the meal. I don’t know if this is standard practice at this restaurant, but they automatically included the tip — even though there was only 2 of us. That would have been ok, except that they then took a pen and wrote the check total in big type right over the line where it showed the tip was included — so that it was nearly impossible to read that line. There was no reason to do this because the check total was already printed on the bill in larger font. Obviously, we’ll never know for sure, but it sure looked like they were trying to cover up the fact that they already added a 15% tip onto the bill in hopes that we would unknowingly add an additional tip — which my husband almost did until I did some quick adding in my head and realized there was no way what we ordered could have added up to that total.
Also, it should be noted that while we were there, they had the jukebox going VERY loud — even though there were only 2 other people eating in the whole place and we were as far from the speakers as possible. It made it almost impossible to talk, except quickly between songs.
Overall, I would strongly discourage people from this restaurant. There are plenty of Salvadoran restaurants that are as good, if not better, than this one and don’t have shady practices.
