I’ve been going to QH for years and a huge fan of their awesome beer selection and have long contented they have the best cheeseburgers in the DMV. However, the last 2 times I’ve eaten their cheeseburgers, I’ve been very disappointed. Too salty and crumbly. The tots tonight were cold and soggy. Hope things turnaround soon.

This is me and my husbands spot. Came in here on a whim and have loved it ever since, I’m very partial to Monday night burgers!!! Also, they have the best selection of beers, quarry house is probably the best bar in silver spring.

How have I not been to Quarry House before? This is one of those great local places that’ll remind you of the burger-and-beer joints you hung out in at college, the kind of place where you’re instantly comfortable and want to come back to time after time. Our server was great, helping us pick out some new beers from the voluminous ‘beericulum vitae’ that’d go well with our first order of their piping-hot tater tots.(It was great to see local beers like the ones from Oliver Brewing Company on the ‘BV’, taking me back to many great nights at the Wharf Rat in Fells Point.) There’s lots of really inventive choices on the menu for burger lovers. For me, it was the quattro formaggi — yep, four different cheeses atop a well-prepared burger with a nice char(and yes, served with more tots). One of my buddies went for the Black and Bleu burger — think hot Buffalo wings, complete with bleu cheese. Whichever burger you choose, you can get either a five– or eight-ounce burger, so listen to your inner meat lover and get the big one. For those who are looking for something a little different, there are a variety of wraps and sandwiches. One of my buddies got the grilled chicken sandwich, which he said was quite good, very juicy, served on a burger roll along with a side of tots.(He liked the tots so much that a post-dinner order was on its way to our table as soon as we all finished our dinners.) The Wayne Street municipal garage is probably the easiest place to park, about two blocks away. BTW, Monday night is half-price burger night — it’ll be busy, but it’ll be worth it!

Great beer selection, always a treat. Came today for my favorite fried pickles. Had to wipe down the table myself as they were too busy. Hard to keep up on everyone I’m guessing. Do recommend.

I love this place. It’s currently across the street from it’s real location. The space is on the small side and it’s first come first serve seating. There is table service in the main dining room and at the bar, there are tables so you order at the bar. It can be very crowded on some nights so if you’re in a hurry, you may want to go during an off time like early evening during the week or later… like after 9. The food is fast and there’s a great selection of beer and cocktails. The largest bourbon and scotch menu I’ve seen around! The wings and burgers are a definite winner and they have the best ranch dressing I’ve ever had at a restaurant! Servers are friendly and the environment is casual.

I’m glad I stopped by here during a rare venture into Silver Spring. The burgers were great and the vibe was super casual. Although this is only a temporary location, I loved the vibe inside and hope the original location looks just as cool. 3 of us sat in the back bar area for beer and burgers. I ordered a mushroom burger, and it came perfectly cooked with a ton of included toppings like the standard lettuce, tomato, and onion as well as carmelized onions, pickles, and relish. I got a side of delicious cheesy tots for an additional charge. I’ll definitely try the chili on top next time. Streer parking is hard to find, but the Metro parking garage is 2 blocks away and free on weekends.

Best bar in SS. Great food, Great Bartenders, Great atmosphere. Local Heros frequent and out of towners delight at this electric atmosphered bar where the dive is only as deep as the pour.

After dinner in the area a friend of mine were in search of a place to grab an «after dinner drink» and this was one of the only places open. I get that they have had a recent fire and are in a temporary space but the space is so weird. It feels like one long hallway and the bar is at the back. There is a small cluster of tables in the front and a few in «hall» which makes it really awkward to walk when someone else is also trying to move. It looks like they have a nice back patio but it was cold the night I went so it was more annoying that every time someone opened the door a cold draft would over take the room. Drink wise it’s a bar so everything is there and it seems they have a pretty extensive beer list which could be fun to check out. The music was pretty random the night I was there so I don’t even want to comment on it. It mostly seemed like someone put on their iPod and hit shuffle. I do have to say I’ll give it a fair shot once they are back in their original space because this temporary space just isnt cutting it.

Qt gets a solid 4 stars and they earned it. I didn’t love you at first because you were a dark, crusty lover of bitter beers which took my little heart, minced it, and reformed it to what a true beer lover’s heart should look like. There’s nothing more to say about this place other than its a cool hang out with a at least 50:50 ratio of men to women. It’s a hang out with the boys, grab some burgers with your coworkers, drink some beer with someone who looks better in the dark. An outrageous selection of beers and even whiskeys. They’ve got a rotating draft list of about 4 good beers and they tell you what’s on deck. Sometimes they run out of the bottled selection but the bartender always makes fantastic alternate suggestions. The burgers are the best I’ve had in Moco. Perfectly cooked and flavorful, juicy patties topped with a your choice of aromatic and protein PLUS a plethora of toppings from LTO to yellow peppers & pickles. Damn. Service sucks when they get busy, it’s true, but hey they got giant water coolers so you can rehydrate between beers and before you can purse your pretty lips into a complaint you’ve got your next beer in front of you. summary: great beers & burgers, very dark inside, got outdoor seating which is awesome for nice days, below average service. Tips: lucky to get metered street parking or park in paid lot behind 7 eleven 2 blocks south(Meters are FREE after 6PM)

The portions are downright sinful. In a good way. One of the best burgers I’ve had in the DC area, I got the BBQ, Swiss, Bacon burger sans the lettuce, tomato & red onion. I added grilled onion to it and it really made the difference. Burger was so flavorful & delicious. We got there at around 5 on a Sunday and it was pretty empty but people started coming in soon after. The server was awesome and I’d highly recommend this place. My one thing was that tater tots were pretty salty with my meal and the guacamole in my guac & tortilla chips appetizer was pretty bland. Other than that, awesome burgers, awesome atmosphere once it gets goin & awesome service. Monday’s are half off burgers btw!

I have lived in the Silver Spring area for a couple of months now, and I had never had an opportunity to stop by this place. Quite frankly, I didn’t know it was there, until I happened to walk by looking for somewhere to grab a late lunch, and saw the small crowd forming outside of the establishment. I would later learn that this was because they do half-priced burgers on Monday nights. Upon entering the restaurant I was pleasantly surprised at the«diveyness» of it. It is clearly a spot that caters to the hipster crowd in Silver Spring(if that exists). The interior is dimly lit with an appropriate amount of grunge to provide an endearing charm. Since it was such a nice day, I was really wanting to sit outside. I was pleased to find out that they had an outdoor patio located in the rear of the building. The patio was spacious and well appointed. It was quickly filled with patrons, and I could quickly see that I was the only one who had missed the memo about the burgers at Quarry House. As a part-time vegetarian, I enjoy burgers, but don’t particularly care for beef. I was happy to see that this place had the option of getting all of their burgers with a vegetarian patty. My friend of course opted for the half pound cow. Both of us were very pleased with our burgers, and it helped that they were half-priced. My only critique would be that the veggie burgers seemed to be frozen Morning Star brand(I know my veggie burgers). I would have preferred a housemade patty. But the toppings were great, and it complimented the burger well. Also the tator tots… OMG! DELICIOUS! They also have a great beer selection. Their beer menu is called«Beericulum Vitae»… BRILLIANT!!! Overall, great place. I will definitely be back.

Cool spot dark with lots of wood. Servers look like lumber jacks and the jazz music is cool. Had the Buffalo chicken wrap and the chicken tenders. Both very good. Great food and good vibe. Will come back.

I have been to Quarry House several times in the past. The atmosphere in the back is fantastic for hanging out with friends. I’ve had the food on occasion(the tots were nice, but not otherworldly), and a general pleasant experience there. But for a supposed dive bar, the prices aren’t that low. Service in general is nothing special; when ordering from waiters drinks can take a little too long. I would have given Quarry House four stars, but-for the experience my friends and I had last night. We had a server last night who turned our night around from fun and relaxed to tense, angry, and pissed off. He took over 20 minutes to deliver two simple drinks. He double-charged us for several drinks and charged us for drinks we did not order, and even though he’d taken our names and orders separately to split the bill, we ended up with one giant, incorrect and confusing bill at the end of the night. The drink orders were put in wrong(tequila went in as vodka, kamikaze went in suaze, what on earth is suaze??). He accused us of under paying, which was ABSOLUTELY incorrect. Several of us have worked in the restaurant industry, and we never short staff on the bill or on tips. He got angry and temperamental when we were trying to sort it out, then left and told the bouncer(who despite all this I give 5 stars!) that we shorted him and Mike ran off. All in all, Mike was an absolutely terrible waiter! both in his timeliness and service during our stay, and his maturity and demeanor while we were trying to solve the bill issue. We left with a horrible taste in our mouths from him and his terrible service.

New(temp.) location, new patio, some new grub, but same ol’ Quarry House. Let me start by saying I cannot be happier to see them back in business. I’ve gone every week since they moved across the street, in fear of never being able to come back and also because I am addicted to their tots. So happy to see the familiar faces. If you have never been to QH, you have been missing out and please run, do not walk, there now. They’ve added some new signature burgers and chicken sandwiches on the menu and I have to say, I love it. Their tots and burgers still hit the spot every time. I know, I know, what’s so special about tater tots. Let me tell you, EVERYTHING. I’ve never had a soggy tot here and I’ll never expect to. Their tots are perfect golden little nuggets and their homemade ranch is a GODSEND. Their wings also do not disappoint and I love their hummus and veggies too. Something for everyone. Beer list is pages long and they’re in the process of re-building their whisk(e)y list. Wednesdays are my go-to nights since it’s Whiskey night and I will never turn down a discount on the fine liquid. Until then, I will be returning weekly to consistently great bar grub and always friendly service. To new comers: Please remember that you are attending a dive bar. Children are welcomed, but do not give me a side eye for ordering my 4th drink and complain that the music is too loud. Also, do not expect to come sit down and be out. QH is first and foremost a DIVEBAR. A place to sit back and enjoy a few drinks and frivolity. If it’s busy, cut your waiter a break. They’re doing their best to get you out, but they will not rush you. My friends and I have been here for 3+ hours watching the turn over, but were never once urged to wrap up or rushed out the door. There is a reason why QH patrons are so loyal.

This was the first time I’ve been strongly displeased with my service at a restaurant. My friends and I sat down at 6pm. The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy. Another server passes us our menus and let’s us know that our server will be right over. Ten minutes later, the server shows up. My friend orders a burger and a beer while my other friend and I tally up our brews with no ideas of what we wanted for entrees. Ten minutes later, the beers are still not at the table but the food runner has already dropped my friend’s burger. At 6:30, our server drops our beers off, saying he just has to ring up some food and he’ll be right back. 6:40 rolls around and still no food has been ordered. Shortly after, we catch a glimpse of our server and he makes his way to us. We place orders and they are cooked in a timely manner. We immediately asked for checks in fear we might have to wait another hour. I’m not sure what was going on with Quarry House this time around, but this service was unacceptable. I’ve never had to wait more than 15 minutes to get beers to the table and food ordered. The food, on the other hand, was delicious. The Reuben was tasty and the Old Bay Tots were perfectly seasoned. The menu has always been phenomenal. I’ll gladly go back, but I will avoid the server with the thick beard and tats(Sean might have been his name).

street parking or there’s a parking garage nearby. the store moved across the street. so i went expecting delicious burgers and tots. it was okay. everything was a little salty. i like that you can customize your burgers and tots. i decided to keep my tots without any extra sauce but the tots were salty. there were some that weren’t too salty and some that were extremely salty. the tots were crispy and good minus the salt factor. it was a little greasy but that’s okay cause it’s expected that tots are fried. the bottom bun of my burger was super soaked. maybe from the meat or the toppings. i’m not sure. i was a little disappointed, but it’s probably cause i had high expectations. the food was good for the price.

Long.Live.Quarry. I was gutted when I found out that the basement burned down a few months back. Despite the change of locations, the service, food, and deals are so damn solid. Mondays, like everyone else, is my favorite day to go. Half price burgers with tots is the best thing ever. The burgers are huge and fulling, you can really see the quality. The tots are seriously something else. I am pretty sure more than half of the times I go to QHT(T), it is because I am craving totchos(tots with nacho toppings, best bar food a person can ask for) The selections of beers are incredible. The rotating tap has really interesting beers I love tasting during happy hour. Staff is pretty solid with helping you out if you don’t know what you want. They suggested some of my new favorite beers. Shout out to QHT, keeping Silver Spring alive.

I went to the Piratz location the other night. Two things:(1) It was whisky Wednesday, which meant 20% off their more than solid whisky collection.(2) They were playing complete Beatles albums in reverse chronological order from Magical Mystery Tour to Revolver. Lend me your ears and I’ll tell you about my time at Quarry House. Picture yourself in a boat on a river, with tangerine trees and marmalade skies. Somebody called me and I answered quite slowly, «Yeah, I’d be up for some burgers, whisky and beer.» I had a peach sour ale, which was quite good. I ordered the burger with cream cheese and pickled jalapenos. I was pretty hungry when it came, so I devoured it in seconds flat. The whisky menu is pretty impressive. I started with the Talisker 10. I ended with a Rittenhouse, but if that’s the cheap whiskey to end the night, you’ve got to get this place into your life. Was this review a convoluted way to paraphrase Beatles references? I think I know I mean a «Yes» but it’s all wrong. That is I think I disagree. Or at least I had absolutely no complaints about my night. Good food, good beer, good whisky, and the bartender has a tattoo of a pterodactyl asking for a slice of pizza. All the Beatles music sealed the night for me.

this place is my favorite restaurant/bar in all of silver spring. the beers, as well as the whiskey and scotches, are kicking. they always have something new for me to try. plus, the waiters and bartenders are very knowledgeable, and can help guide you if you feel lost. their food is so good. i LOVE their burgers. it’s actually my favorite burger ever… in all the lands. it doesn’t matter the combo, they’re all good. i’ve literally had them all. they understand that it’s about the meat. all i ever get is the 1⁄3 because it’s the perfect portion amount, and ratio with the veggies. i get a perfect medium rare every time. plus, on mondays it’s half off! as if this place could this place get any better. but it does! now in their new location they have a patio! what??? yea, it’s that awesome. no matter the night of the week, this place is always packed and a fun place to be. definitely a spot i take all my visitors. as much as i didn’t want to write this review and share it with the world, they need the props. i love you guys!

Came here before a concert so I assume it was more packed than a normal Tuesday night. We came down the stairs to the basement bar and found a standing spot at the bar since all the tables were taken and there really isn’t room for bar stools. The staff seemed annoyed about the crowd that preceded my friend and I. The bartender was curt and blunt and I heard another server complain that everyone is going to ask for their check at the same time. I wasn’t turned off by the staff as I A) Don’t care and B) I’ve worked in a restaurant so I can relate. The draft beer selection is solid. They have about 8 rotating beers on the draft menu and there was a whole fridge full of bottles on display. I ordered a 1⁄3 lb bacon swiss burger with tots based on the reviews here and was very underwhelmed. The burger was very generic and reminded me more of a burger from Checkers. Nothing unique or gourmet about it. I also don’t understand what is so special about the tater tots? Just your standard tots that are seasoned with salt. Big deal. Would I come here again? Yes, but I wouldn’t go out of my way.

The burgers are BOMB! And on Mondays they are ½ off if you have them there. Also heard their Tacos on Tuesday are really amazing but have not tried them yet. The dill dip they make is really tasty too with their home made chips … but the TOTS, Yummy! The drinks are good, what you expect — and the service is decent. Don’t expect much and you’ll be good.

I wonder how often the Indian place that shares this address get people walking in trying to find Quarry House. This place is located on the side of the building, down the stairs into the dungeon. Once you make your way down the steps, the lights are low, the place looks sketchy, it’s not though as kids are allowed and a few were there surprisingly during my visit. Apparently the tots are world famous, well maybe not world famous but apparently they are the go to item on the food menu and I admit they are quite tasty but then again when aren’t tots amazing. Also had the burger, it was decent, nothing to write home to about but it nice compliment to the tots. Place is cool overall, nice place to kick back and relax with a group of friends, grab a beer and a order of tots and have fun.
