I’m so glad that I read the Unilocal reviews for this store to prepare myself for the S*%T show visit that I had at this location today. The previous reviews certainly didn’t let me down and I’m happy to add to them. I went in to this location this afternoon to exchange a dress that I had purchased at another location in DC. As soon as I walked in, I felt the judgement and was not greeted by one of the 2 employees that I saw working this evening(to be fair… one of them was too busy talking on her cellphone and texting). Keep in mind, there were also maybe 1 or 2 people shopping in the store at the time. I had the Rainbow bag, dress to return, and receipt all ready to go and walked up the to register to ask if I could exchange for a smaller size. The woman behind the counter looked at me like I had a third eye when I asked«Do you have this dress in the store? I’d like to exchange for a smaller size.» and she simply replied«I don’t know.» I looked at her with a blank stare for a moment before I said«Ok, I’ll try to go look for it» and I left the bag with her. She didn’t bat an eyelash and didn’t move from her spot to try to help me look for it in the store. After searching the unorganized racks, they didn’t have it in the store, so I returned to the register and told her they didn’t have it and that I would just keep what I had. She handed me back the bag and I decided to look around the store for some other things. Apparently that was a HUGE mistake on my part. As I’m walking around browsing I hear someone shouting across the store what sounded like«Mom» for a good minute or so and since I have no children, I didn’t think anything of it. Finally the cashier walks up to me and I realize she had been shouting«m’aam» across the store(she had an accent). Yes, you heard me… instead of walking over to me to speak directly to me, she was SHOUTING at me from across the store to get my attention. Regardless, she told me that I could not have my bag with me and that she needed to keep it up at the register with her. EXCUSEME!!! It’s a bag from YOURSTORE with an item and RECEIPT inside. I brushed it off and handed her the bag and then watched her make snide comments about me to other customers in the store. After browsing a bit more(and being judged a bit more) I found a pair of $ 5.00 sunglasses that I decided to get and went up the register to pay. I asked her if there was a credit card minimum(because at some of the DC locations there is a $ 10.00 minimum). She said she had no idea and that she would have to ask the manager. SERIOUSLY? Did they just pick someone off the street and throw them behind the counter to «work»? This entire visit was a disaster. I got my $ 5.00 sunglasses and my bag of un-returned merchandise back and left the store feeling like I had just been treated like a criminal. If you want to be treated like crap, I invite you to visit this terrible Rainbow location. Not all of them are like this one. This one is in a special class of its own.

Stores exist for the customers to spend their money. I certainly didn’t spend any when I took this trip to hell. Beginning with an over zealous employee that called me «stupid» because that’s probably the only word she knows in English. The situation only escalated when she pulled the race card. Not only am I judging her but the whole store for hiring such a racist employee! This is 2015 yet someone must inform this lady who lives in the past! A manager intervened yet did nothing and took no action. Therefore I feel it’s my duty to alert anyone walking into the store that these employees will judge you on appearances even if you are trying to spend your money. Not only did they lose me as a customer; but others as well!

Meh, the clientele was definitely more friendly than the staff which moved slower than molasses. Actually had a grand time chatting with a couple of ladies also waiting in the miserable line at the register. Something caught my Mom’s eye as we were walking past which was the only reason we came in. This is definitely not my type of store or merchandise. Best just to leave it at that. Low grade however is because the store was generally dirty and the changing rooms absolutely flithy. I felt like I needed a shower when we finally left.

So I walked by Rainbow on my way out of Marshalls… Since there’s no Macy’s, Forever21, Old Navy(etc) or anything like that in Downtown Silver Spring I thought this was as close as I was gonna get; looked like they had some cute clothes and some cute shoes in the window too. However, I never got to look at anything… On my way into the store, I was told I had to «check» my bags with the employee! I said,“Excuse me?” She says«I need to take your bags and Check them while you shop.» Are you KIDDINGME?! I looked at the lady working like she was dumb for even asking and told her«Yeah, no thank you. I’m good!» and walked out of store laughing. First of all, I’m not 15 and ghetto and Im not going to shoplift from your cheap-ass store! If you’re worried about shoplifters spend a little money on some beeping ink tags and security cameras, get better insurance or go to a differnt location and perhaps even cater to a different demographic. But, please, PLEASEDON’T assume I’m going to trust YOUR minimum wadge workers with MY belongings. Would never think of giving them any business… I wonder how much money they’ve lost for that exact reason. Dumb. Would give them 0 stars if I could.

Cool new store with lots of cute women’s clothes including a wide selection of plus sizes(16+), some shoes & boots, a rack of inexpensive lingerie and costume jewelry. It turned out to be a great option for accessories for a Halloween costume, but would be equally worthwhile for fun daily wear. The only downside is that they have so much stock out on the floor that in some areas the racks are packed too tightly to move through.
