This was my go-to for Chinese and Japanese take out for several years. Their pork dumplings were amazing. I don’t know if the restaurant changed management or just decided to switch to cheaper ingredients, but the dumplings are no longer special. The Chinese food is quite adequate and the sushi is reasonably good.

Great food except the booth chairs or really dirty they need to really clean the chairs. While you eating your just seeing those nasty stains on the seat.

We have gotten food from the Spring Garden quite a few times over past couple years. Some of their food is good but nothing is exceptional. Things we have liked a bit more are the crispy beef and the Singapore noodles. Even these are inconsistent so we never know if we will get really-good or just-ok. We decided to try some new items last night and were very disappointed. So much so that next time we will try another place for Chinese food. One thing we tried was the pupu platter. Everything on it was not very good. The spring rolls in this platter were mushy– although, when we have had the spring rolls ordered separately they are better– although like everything else they are inconsistent. One new item we tried was the curry shrimp. Everything in this dish was mushy– except the shrimp which was overcooked. The curry sauce was not very flavorful. Altogether a dish we will never order again and did not like at all. Not sure why the quality is so inconsistent– perhaps different cooks. Bottom line: this restaurant needs to work on its quality control. Maybe have fewer things on the menu and concentrate on doing them right.

Food is mediocre and delivery is terrible. Not necessarily the driver’s fault – but both times we’ve ordered from spring garden there’s been problems. First time(back in November) the driver couldn’t find our building. Second time, the restaurant gave the driver the wrong address. And we ordered brown rice and veggie dumplings and they gave us white rice and pork dumplings. Not worth the hassle!

We have ordered here for years. Often delivery takes a while but we liked the food, so we ignored it. On our last and final order they forgot half our of food. Instead of offering a refund on that half, they said they’d only offer to bring the rest of the order. We continued to complain and they said they would do a full refund only if we returned the half of the food they actually brought. After a lot of back and forth they finally offered a partial refund, but it took 30 mins on the phone with the delivery guy looking on. Basically the food is good but the service is a nightmare. Go to Red Maple instead.

I eat out maybe 7 times a week. The food here is ok if you can’t get to Asia Nine. They use fresh ingredients that I like. I enjoy the stir fried rice, soups and the convenience. Girls who take order are sweet who take your order and they get it ready quickly when you want to eat. It’s a family owned place so I think they go the extra mile to accommodate vegetarians and all sorts of palates. Just wolfed down some soup and it was tasty and very hot. Love the location and how it’s priced well too.

Ordered the garlic chicken and there’s not a hint of garlic in it. On top of that, food is sweet. A few tiny pieces of chicken with a ton of vegetables. Not enough meat by any means. Worst decision I made all day.

Moved to downtown silver spring and have been testing & trying all the chinese delivery places to see which could win my loyalty(i was spoiled for years as I was smack in the middle between MEIWAH& City Lights when I lived in DC). Maybe because its the asian in me but I’m kind of a chinese food snoot but I’ll eat good & bad for the sake of giving everyone a fair chance. Suffice to say Silver Spring does not have that ONE place to rule them all… each that I have tried has strengths & weaknesses. The trick is which ones are worth your time, what they each do best & which ones to avoid like the plague. I do initial tests with delivery places by ordering the basics: Egg Rolls, Spring Rolls, Dumplings, Soups, Fried RIce, Lo Mein. I may throw in an entrée like or something that stands out as unique for the restaurant but usually stick to the basics 1st& expand later. If a restaurant cannot get the basics right… you know to worry. Spring Garden fits into one of the old reliable category… while they have an actual large restaurant on 16th st. their Delivery/Carryout is lightning fast, the food is hot and the staff is friendly. As for my order: Eggrolls — not super fat but they are larger than a spring roll… They use a different type of wrapper kind of like those for pizza logs. Good flavored filling. Spring rolls — Good and had generous shrimp inside. Egg Drop soup — Nice & velvety(a key thing for me… you don’t want chicken & egg water), good flavor but could use a little salt. Their crunchy noodles to add to soup are of the prepackaged variety so that was a bit disappointing. Lo mein was very good and tasted better the next day(a good thing). it wasn’t the best I’ve had but ok for delivery. Pork fried rice has strips of pork not bbq pork cubes. Kung pao chicken wasn’t that spicy(prob dumbed down for american palettes) and the size of the ingredients varied with waaay too much sauce.(Mark of good kung pao is consistent ingredient size & just enough sauce but not drenched or greasy) As for their dumplings… they are homemade and lean toward the thick skin variety but they have good flavor. They are a medium size. All in All… a 3.5 stars. I’ve sampled other dishes and they need to work on their consistency but they have improved versus the 1st couple times I ordered.

I ordered take out as i was visiting the area for work, I was too tired to go anywhere, So i found this on Unilocal and decided to order. the food was very good. I can’t give it 5 stars because it was take out! but when i am back, i would order again. I had the crunchy roll, egg rolls, chicken on a stick and seafood salad. GREAT/FRESH and very tasty…

The eel avocado sushi was poor! Big piece of avocado and a flake of eel. The salmon, tuna rolls where bite size. For $ 30 I was expecting a bit more protein!

Did the business change owners or cooking staff? The food I had last night with my boyfriend was almost unrecognizable from the past 8 plus years. He used to live near by and ate there frequently and so we go when we are in the area for 8 years now. His ginger chicken was similar to past meals. My walnut shrimp was not. Instead of a delicate sauce lightly spices and a bit sweet with lightly toasted walnuts, it was sticky sweet and overly spiced with burnt nuts. WTF? Our soups we good but that was about it. Spring rolls were greasy. Dumplings tasted like they were from a super market. And no delicious wedges of fresh oranges at the end. We were last there in April, so changes could have happened to ownership, cook staff, or, even management. Spring Garden, what happened to you!!!

I live in upper NW and this place has been my go to for years. I don’t mind paying a little extra for delivery if it means avoiding greasy carry-out«food». My orders are consistently tasty, whether I order Chinese or sushi, and delivery is prompt. I’ll keep ordering as long as they keep delivering :)

Okay, I am really sad right now. I left a 4 star review for this place just a week or two ago. I got the Singapore noodles and hot and sour soup delivered. Just like last time, the delivery was super fast(approx 20 min). He gave me 2 free egg rolls, which was nice. The food was BAD. Like I am staring at a huge plate of noodles and a bowl of soup that I will have to throw out because they are so TASTELESS. Okay, I take that back: the noodles taste like cheap oil, a little red chili powder and loads of turmeric. In fact, I feel like they sprinkled some turmeric on top after cooking, just for fun. The meat was okay, but again without spices. I had even asked for«spicy» when ordering. There were some random pockets where I could suddenly taste a pinch of chili powder, which was gross because it just accentuated how bad the rest of the food tasted. The hot and sour soup was the worst. It’s incredibly bland. There is nothing hot or sour about it. I had the wonton plus egg drop soup last time and it was good considering it cost around $ 1.50. You will regret getting the hot and sour soup: dont do it! I was hungry so I ate the free egg rolls, had a few sips of soup and tried to eat a helping of noodles. All I feel like I ate was a vat of oil. And I’m still hungry. I don’t know what happened but this is so irritating. I paid $ 16 for the worst Chinese food I have ever had. I wish I could go back in time and take back my decision to spend $ 16 here. I feel like calling and asking for my money back. Yes. It was that bad. I would have given 1 star except I had decent food last time, the delivery was fast and they gave me some free tasty egg rolls.

This place seems pretty solid for food choices. I’ve ordered twice but both experiences were good. I had a sushi roll the last time with various appetizers. And this time around I Ordered egg rolls, drunken noodles w/shrimp, and sesame shrimp. The deliver took 20 minutes from confirmation email to delivery. The egg rolls were good but a little greasy(not always a bad thing), the drunken noodles tasted great but wasn’t at all spicy(I chose medium spicy next time I will up at least one category of spicy), the sesame shrimp were delicious but the broccoli was fully raw. Overall, I like this place. Finally I’ve found a Chinese delivery that isn’t a complete hole in the wall and doesn’t make me question the ingredients.

3.5 stars Less than two miles from work. My go-to place for when I forget my lunch at home and/or when I don’t feel liking waiting in line at other dining places. I order online(usually through Unilocal Eat24) and pick it up within 10 mins. My favorite dish are the steam chicken dumplings. YUM! That dish alone would have granted this place 4 stars. But I had to take into account other dishes I’ve tried. So far: Shrimp Lo Mein, Pad Thai(Chicken and Shrimp), Spring Rolls, Egg Rolls, and Crab Rangoon. Honestly, all were okay. Nothing to write home about. So if you want to take anything away from this review, then take this — get you some of that steam chicken dumplings!

I actually eat here once a week. Typically on take out so I forget to check in. This is one of the best resturant in the Silver Spring corridor. When I sit in, I typically am there for a little over an hour. The servers are very nice and attentive. Food is delish, always! My faves are General Tso Chicken or Tso Shrimp(try them). I also enjoy the fresh made Sushi, tempura and Shrimp spring rolls. I am a regular here and when I walk in for take out, they shout my order at me. LOL this is my spot :)

Pretty decent late night Americanized Chinese fare. Lately the quality has gone down a tad. But what threw me overboard was the rudeness of their delivery guy. He insisted I wait in the hallway for his arrival while I said would wait at my door with it open, which I felt was already unnecessary for me to do. He then lectured me when he arrived because he had to walk all of 3 seconds. Delivery = Convenience. Upon delivery of the food, a person would go answer their door in ~5−7 seconds. I don’t know what this«wait for me here…» crap is. Sadly, not ordering delivery from them ever again.

Let’s start with the variety — it looks good, but what I’m used to is a dinner special, where you can mix and match. No option like that here. So instead, I got a Pu Pu Platter and pineapple chicken. The latter was amazing and the Pu Pu Platter was… not good. The ribs were over-done, but what was I expecting? Shrimp tenders? What WAS that — with the tail still in? All of it was cold too. Secondly, service. I gave the cashier exact change and she hands me back some random denomination in coins… I told her I gave her exact change and she starts arguing with me rolling her eyes. I won’t be coming back here. I have experienced better.

Surprisingly… really good! Very affordable price for HUGE portions! We dined in here the other night; the place is size-able enough. The food was super fresh and original. My son devoured the hand-made chicken dumplings. We enjoyed all the dishes we got: Mongolian lamb, Singapore noodles, beef lo mein, eggplant and chicken, and wonton soup. We brought home enough leftovers for another 2 meals! My only complaint about the food is that we asked for the dishes ‘spicy’ and they definitely were not(good flavor and fresh ingredients, but not ‘spicy’). My only real complaint, is that the place(especially the bathroom) is a little bit dirty – could do with a better cleaning. Service was nice; speed was moderate, though we were there right at dinner time, so the kitchen may have been a little backed up. If you happen to dine in, don’t expect too much atmosphere-wise… this place is in a strip mall; but it is passable(if a little grungy feeling).
