Soooooo disappointed! I use to come to this place more often when I was younger(about 6 years ago). This place has gone downhill dramatically! We went in for Sunday lunch with my father — we were the only people there. Even so, the server was not that attentive. She told us at the end of our meal that we needed to pay in cash. She added our meals by hand and messed up with math so she had to re-add(by hand). It felt very unprofessional. I will never go back. I will never go back again. I give this restaurant max 2 years before it goes broke. I do not recommend at all!

I came to eat here last night and left mid-meal because I saw a rat run across the room. My boyfriend told the waitress and he still had to pay the bill. Never coming back.

I don’t know what is happening to this place. The first few times I went it was great, I loved the Peruvian chicken and the service was excellent! I went again a couple of weeks ago and it was a real disappointment. Food was very bad, and the service was terrible. The two ladies there were playing with the smartphones the whole time as I waited for my order to be ready. The food didn’t have the same quality as it did the first couple of times I ate there. The restroom lights were not working either… it was kind of scary back there. I would think they would be generating more business after Crisp and Juicy in Wheaton closed down due to fire incident. I guess I was wrong. If they would have treated me better and at least offered me water while I waited for my to-go order, I would have given them a higher rating. Sorry.

Oh my lord! What happen with this place? I gave them one last chance last week, and it was a real disappointment. Food was very bad, and the service was terrible. Beware! Tip will be included in your check no matter the size of your party, so maybe that’s one of the reasons why our server was so lazy. But not just her, the cooks also just let themselves go, they don’t care anymore. Yucas Fritas were refried and refried again, and again, I mean, really? The ceviche was a sacrilege to our Peruvian tradition and the level of acidity was alarming since there’s a shortage of lime I wonder what they’re using instead of the real thing. The Causa with all those cheap frozen vegetables, and that frozen shrimp didn’t pass the test, and easy on the mayo fellows, please! The Tallarines Verdes were overcooked and the sauce was bland. Friends, as a Peruvian, I would like to recommend«Las Canteras» or «La Limena» I will not go anywhere else, ok maybe to «La Canela». Anyway, please let the owner(s) know about this, and hopefully they will change; there is not a single decent Peruvian joint around Wheaton, they’re all bad, and The Chicken Place used to be ok, now it’s just as terrible as the others.

The service keeps me coming back. The servers are friendly and the food is delishhh. I had the Lomo Saltado on 10⁄17 for dinner. The meat was succulent and the fries were crispy. It was complemented by the Chicha Morada, a Peruvian drink made out of purple corn. On previous occasions, I have had the fried calamari for appetizer and it’s always fresh and crunchy!

The best chicken I have ever had. Excellent flavor, juicy, low prices, fast service and wonderfully friendly people.

My husband and I were so excited about finding a Peruvian dining option nearby. Like Roy S. reviewed at the beginning of the year, we found the menu options bland and lacking of the distinctive Peruvian flavor we longed for. My chicken entrée was juicy; my husbands’ was dry, the fries were soggy, the plantains were fibrous(tasty?). I don’t think we’ll return. Too many other options to try.

This place was weak. The chicken was juicy but lacked any real Peruvian flavor. The fries were soggy, but the plantains were solid. There are better places then this but few are much cheaper… Also, the green sauce had a little kick to it, but was mostly vinegar and had a really flat flavor. I will go anywhere else…

Being called«The Chicken Place» and having Peruvian roots, I expected that the rotisserie Peruvian chicken would have been amazing. I was sadly disappointed. The chicken was dry and in parts, as tough as shoe leather. The seasoning was ok, but not as flavorful as other Peruvian chicken places in the area. The Yucca was pretty good but badly in need of salt. The spicy salsa verde was the big highlight of the meal and because of the dryness in the chicken we ended up drowning it in green sauce. I will say that the service was very friendly and nice and it was a very comfortable place to have dinner. We went here because the reviews were so good, but now that I’m reading them again, everyone who was happy ordered things other than the chicken. Since I live so close, I will probably give this place another shot but will not be ordering the chicken again.

My boyfriend and I ate lunch here by accident last Saturday. We were planning to visit the Island Hut, but for some inexplicable reason they were closed for lunch on a Saturday at 2 pm. We realized that Island Hut looked dead as we drove past it looking for parking, so as we walked back around the block to look more closely, we had already decided there were several restaurants within the block and we would eat somewhere on this strip. The Chicken Place is right next door, and we love Peruvian food, so we were happy to dine here instead. I ordered the ¼ white meat chicken with a side of salad. The boyfriend ordered the lomo saltado. We’ve both had our respective dishes at other restaurants and so had a point of comparison for each. The chicken was tender and the flavor was good. The skin was crisp and delicious, and I could not resist it, even though I rarely eat the skin. The boyfriend liked his entrée as well. The beef was well seasoned, and his entrée came with a side of rice and fries. He was pleased overall with the dish. The service was friendly, but uneven. Our waiter was not the most attentive fellow, but when he did come to our table he was very friendly and eager to please. This place has a warm and welcoming vibe. I definitely had the feeling we could sit there for hours and just drink a few beers, which was tempting. We would definitely visit again. I should also note that our lunch, as noted above, with three beers came to $ 32 which was AMAZING. The value here cannot be beat.

I’ve been going to the Chicken Place for years and they consistently provide excellent service and have great food. They also are very reasonably priced(especially the lunch menu). I’ve tried a number of items on the menu and you really can’t go wrong with anything but make sure you try the Chicken Tamales. If you like spicy food, ask for their special green hot sauce. It’s very hot but also flavorful. Unfortunately I’ve moved pretty far away from the restaurant so I hadn’t been for a couple of years. However I was recently in the area and visited and the food and service was just as awesome as I remembered. I think the only downside to the Chicken Place is that parking can be a big issue during busy times.

This place was just ok at best. I was expecting it to be the same as The Chicken Place in Virginia, but apparently its not. The chicken was pretty good, but definitely not as good as the other Chicken Place. The staff was nice, and the place was clean, however I’m not sure if I desire to come back here again.

In addition to my previous review, I have also tried the seafood picante, lomo saltado and the beef stew. I enjoyed the beef stew a lot. I would definitely recommend the one of the saltados or the Aji de Gallina before the seafood picante. Also, we ordered the ceviche mixtos and Chorros A La Chalaca. Both very worthly items to get. Friendly service but parking sucks.

It is a solid, good meal. Worth it. I found the food tasty, the resturant very clean & the service very good. While I did find the food quite good & flavorful, it wasn’t the best food I’d ever tasted, but it is worth trying. You will not be disappointed! The restaurant is roomy & there is plenty of room for a wheelchair or walker. There are mostly tables & chairs, but there are a few booths and no steps. The only hing that sucks is parking, but it is very easy to drop most of your party off at the front door. There is a full bar. The bar drinks seem fair in price for amount. Not this great price, but certainly no rip off. The soda came in a can with a cup of ice so it wasn’t super cold. Lomo(beef) saltado has great flavor. The beef, while extremly good & quite tender, was very fatty & chewy. Pollo is probably better. Fries are served under this– FYI. Picante de Maircos(seafood) was very good. The seafood seemed fresh. There’s alot of squid. It is extremely flavoeful with very spicy kick. If you don’t like spicy food, don’t get it! Piccarones for dessert are pretty much deep fried donuts. They came with 5 on a plate and are the size of mini donuts. I swore plantains were in the mix, but the waitress said they were made with«sweet potatos». All in all, it’s very solid & a good«date» restaurant.

I used Unilocal to search locally in a stretch of highway filled with Chinese and Thai spots, but was yearning for Latin food. Unilocalers were spot on! The food, ambiance, and hospitality were all top notch. I was really close to ordering a chicken, as the name led me to believe that chicken would be their best dish, but the server actually recommended lomo saltado(beef in a tangy Peruvian soy sauce), which happens to be my favorite Peruvian dish. It was excellent. The meat was tender and flavorful. The french fries, which are often soggy when mixed with the sauce, were actually cripsy and held up well to the sauce. The veggies were fresh: onions actually had a great sweet taste for once and the tomato was not soft and mushy. I did not have a drink or dessert, but their offerings did look great. I will definitely be back if I am nearby. I may even take a trek here if I can’t find good Peruvian near me.

Excellent restaurant. The wait staff is very attentive & always pleasant. If you like steak, rice, fries and great flavor, you can get it all with the Lomo saltado — my Fave! I’ve been coming here for years now. Also, if you like glazed donuts, definitely try the Peruvian version called Picarones… delish!!! To drink, the Inca Cola — awesome alternative to your regular pepsi products. The only downside for me… parking. It sucks. You have to park on Elkin Street where the parking meters are. if you want to take a chance, you can park in the strip mall across the street. So far so good for me parking across the street. You cannot park next door at the salon or in the Subway parking lot — YOUWILLGETTOWED.

If you like Peruvian food, this place is excellent. Another one of the hidden gems of Wheaton that the residents of West MoCo may never discover. I came for lunch and split the Bistec Encebollado(this steak joint with Onions and Tomatoes) and the Aji de Gallina(A shredded chicken dish cooked in some sauce with potatoes and parmesan cheese) with a friend and both were Real Good. Very Tasty. We also split some flan for dessert, and while it was a bit thicker than the flan i have had at some other restaurants, it was still very rich and full of flavor. The Jugo de Maracuya(Passion fruit juice) was fresh squeezed and enjoyable. It was a tiny bit bitter but still good, i could have probably just asked for a tiny packet of sugar if it had really bothered me that much. I recommend a visit to this place, dishes between 10&15 dollars for the most part.
