Unleashed by Petco

I WISH I CAN GIVE 9 282 827 272 ‘s!!! I absolutely LOVE LOVE this store!!! Their customer service is amazing!!! They’re all about customer service & are always willing to help. They always greet you & always give my little pooch treats in which I love! I would definitely recommend anyone to come here with their furry babies. They also have a self wash for your furry babies for $ 10. The store is organized & clean as well. This is my to go to store! The regular Petco, I absolutely hate it! Their customer service is always horrid doesn’t matter where. Idk what it is with unleashed although they’re by the same company. But unleashed is more caring & love to make customers happy!

Sometimes the experience in this big new pet store in the wonderful old post office building is very good with helpful enthusiastic staff, and sometimes, like tonight, you wonder if anybody there knows how to work in retail. I was trying to buy a $ 4.99 pack of dog treats. One of the sales staff was in a never-​ending conversation with a couple of other customers, and the woman at the register was struggling in frustration with something and never looked up even to say, «Be with you in a minute» or something like that. I waited for a little over five minutes and put the package down on the counter and left. Otherwise, I might still be there. 5 pm Saturday ⁹⁄₁₉

My only regret is of not snapping a photo of my pooch in the Do-​it-​yourself bath bar in the back of the store. This is a great benefit to those of us with dogs that hate bath time and those of us that hate wrenching our backs kneeling over the bathtub.
Today was the official ribbon cutting opening, but I believe they opened two weeks ago. Anyhow, I received an announcement card in the mail with a 25% off coupon for this weekend only. I can never have enough Nature’s Miracle on hand. (If you don’t have a coupon, the guy at the counter will give you one.)
I brought my pooch, and much to her chagrin, I led her back to the bathing area. There are three large tub. Until the end of August, the price is just $ 5.00! This weekend, 100% of the money collected for this service will be donated to two charities. One, I think, is the Shar Pei rescue that was here this morning. The regular rate starting in September is only $ 10.00. That is a bargain.
The only drawback this new place will face is parking. I score a spot directly in front on Georgia Ave. If you can’t find nearby parking there is a county garage around the corner on Bonifant. I think it still runs on coin meters. Just be cautious walking to your car at night.

I am SO excited that Unleashed is here. Until now, my husband and I have been forced to choose between driving way upcounty for inexpensive food + kitty litter, and buying locally at crazy boutique prices. Petco’s reasonable prices coupled with a location 4 blocks from my house is a dream come true.
Unleashed is Petco’s smaller, more high-​end store concept. I was worried that would mean no litter or other staples, but I visited today and so far as I can tell they have everything you could ever need for a cat (or a dog.) I asked an employee what they DIDN’T have (that a regular Petco would), and she said mostly a more limited selection of items for smaller animals. Also no live animals, but that’s ok, because I don’t need any more opportunities to acquire additional pets!
What they do have: an awesome selection of pet food, including all the hippie all-​natural brands our vet has talked us into serving to our kitties; cat toys, basic supplies, and that awesome inexpensive Petco kitty litter we love.
Note to new visitors: there is PARKING in a lot directly behind the Unleashed building. You can access it from Wayne (turn right into the alley just before Georgia) or from Bonifant (turn right into the alley just after turning off Georgia). It isn’t well marked (yet), but it is there, and way more convenient than parking in the metro parking lot or anywhere else.
