Not local & not abundant! Plus, they have horrible customer service. I did get decent quality box’s for a long time living in Pine Mountain Club & then Pacific Palisades. I think the quality depends on where your delivery site is located as the ritzy Pacific Pali area was the very best. Then we moved again and picked up in Woodland Hills– it was horrible! Not only was the quality very poor– small, going bad with items left off entirely– but the couple handling the delivery site were terrible! VERYUNWELCOMING to new people! They treated myself & my husband like we were there to steal their stuff and I’m not exaggerating. They were actually more concerned about selling their own homemade wares then dolling out the abundant harvest produce. No one was ever available to put the box in my trunk when I chose not to block traffic and parked to the side. When the wife’s father helped one time he tried hitting on me– it was 8:30 am in the morning! not a family friendly location– very seedy! We complained but no one cared so we cancelled. Going to SavRaw now– it’s actually local to Los Angeles & family friendly with good values. Save your abundance and don’t get Abundant Harvest!

I signed up for Abundant Harvest Organics a little over a month ago and I have nothing but good things to say. I will say that weekly delivery of fresh produce is probably not for everybody, but if you’re someone who likes to make creative home cooked meals at least 2 or 3 times a week, and if you are someone looking to receive the freshest seasonal produce, and if you are conscious of the environment and if you are seeking to support small family family farms in California, then you best sign up for AHO right away! In addition to the fresh box of produce that you receive weekly, you can also go on their website and purchase add-ons such as pastured eggs, grass fed humane meat, bulk amounts of seasonal fruits and vegetables, etc. I love it. Finally, the hosts for our area are great people and run a tight and organized ship and get you in and out with your fresh box of produce in no time at all. I think the longest I have waited so far is 3 minutes! That’s ridiculous. I’m pretty sure I’ve never had an experience at a supermarket that took 3 minutes or less, and the quality of produce that you are getting pales in comparison to what is in the AHO Box. Try it out. They don’t lock you into any sort of longterm contract or anything, so if it’s really not for you, you can pretty much cancel anytime. Plus, they make it very easy for you to pause your box during vacations and what not. ok, the moral of this story is to sign up for a fresh box of fruits and vegetables right now!

A little over a year ago my GF and I checked out the documentary«Forks Over Knives»(currently on Netflix streaming), which completely changed our view of diet, specifically it’s direct effect on one’s health and well being. We immediately changed our eating habits, eliminated meat and dairy from our daily diet(my GF went all in and is 100% Vegan; I’m some sort of Vega/Carno hyrbid and eat Vegan during the week, but allow myself time off for good behavior on weekends). Shortly after seeing the film we started buying fresh locally grown organic produce from Abundant Harvest. Organics, a California farm-share delivery service. So here’s how it works: You order one of their weekly produce boxes online(they come in various sizes) and then pick them up each week from one of their local delivery sites(usually at a mall or city parking lot). The spots are listed on their website and are staffed by volunteers(known as community hosts) who live in your neighborhood. Where I live, the pickup spot is at the local library parking lot, between the hours 1pm and 1:30pm each Saturday. Their produce is 100% certified USDA organic, fresh from the fields of California family farmers, and makes the GMO junk sold at corporate groceries look and taste like the crap it is. Included in your weekly box are fresh fruits, vegetables, fresh herbs, and occasionally dry spices. You get whatever is in season at the time(right now we’re getting a ton of oranges, leeks, kale, etc) so the contents vary with time and are always extremely fresh. The small box we get each week runs $ 21.80 and is way more than enough for two people. In additional to their weekly boxes, you can also order organic dry goods(including black beans — a staple at my house) as well as juicing carrots and the like. We juice almost every night, so this comes in very handy(I drink carrot juice every day and their carrots are awesome). The end result of all this is that our monthly grocery bill has dropped dramatically while the quality of the produce we consume has noticeably increased. Now we only need to hit Vons or Whole Foods for things like dry nuts, bakery goods, almond milk, etc. This system is a great way to not only eat and feel healthier, but also support local farms and reduce your monthly expenses. A win-win all the way around. You truly are what you eat, so eat what’s good for you and buy the freshest highest quality food you can(which doesn’t always have to cost more). And if you haven’t seen it already, take a look at «Forks Over Knives»; You may be surprised by what you hear. Highly recommended.
