This store is unprofessional, unhelpful and down right rude! I Bought ADOBEBROWN rock, 2 scoopfulls shown in first pic. I brought the first scoopfull home, unloaded it all and it looked great. went back for second scoopfull, again unloaded it from my truck and it looked good like a BROWN should look. The next morning after rinsing it down with the hose, it dried and looks mostly pink and purplish and gray, as the 2nd pic clearly shows. No where near a BROWNCOLOR and clashes terribly with the color of the front of my home and existing landscaping. I now had 2 huge scoopfulls of a purple, pink and gray colored rocks in my front yard that clearly does not go with the rest of my color scheme, so I went back to True Value, hoping that due to being a long time resident and customer they would have some sort of compassion for me at this point. I brought a box of some of the«rinsed» off rock, which is now purplish/pink. The returns girl(apparently the owners daughter) told me «I don’t know what to tell you! It looks like you picked the wrong rock» with a smirk on their faces. I asked for scoop of the real BROWN color rock to try and fix it, for no charge or a discount at least and their response was«Nope! I don’t know what to tell you, you picked the wrong rock!» So I dug out all rock next morning, major back breaking work and unloaded it on side of my house, went to Home Depot and found a brownish rock, spent another $ 100 plus, unloaded it and rinsed it off and it looked just like rock I picked out even after rinsing it off with water. I’m out $ 150 for True Values purple rock that they call adobe BROWN and basically laughed at by True Value owner and daughter when I asked to help me fix this nightmare. Consumers, you can make the call. Would you want to do business with a company that doesn’t stand by what they say when they say«customer satisfaction»? Would you want to do business with a company that, after being a loyal long time customer and referral service for them, won’t even credit you the 1 scoopfull worth $ 70 to appease their patrons to ensure they come back?! I do not like giving my business to a big box warehouse, but if this is the kinda mom and pop shop that True Value wants to be, I’ll happily take my business elsewhere! And I suggest you do the same before you get treated as poorly as I did by this mother/daughter duo. I wouldn’t deal with this company again if u paid me!

Terrible customer service! The girl at the return center is rude and aggressive. No customer satisfaction cares, whatsoever!

Hands down, the very best place to buy fasteners. They have all the odd stuff you’ll never find at Home Depot or other chain. That includes a full range of stainless, grade 8 and metric fasteners, as well as chrome and even left-hand thread fasteners. Their selection of landscaping rock and materials is great too, and very affordable. The staff here are extremely friendly. There is one girl, who is the self-ascribed hardware guru who gets a little snippy sometimes, but otherwise the staff are great! I only ding them one star because of their crappy hours. It’s 9 – 5 every day. Hey, guess what? That’s when 90% of your customers are at work. That means True Value is never open for you in the morning or in the evening after you get off work. Well — That sucks! Hardware stores, auto parts and places like this need to open at 7:00AM or 8:00AM and close at around 8:00PM or 9:00PM. Be there for your customers and we’ll be there for you…

Most the time they have what we need. Way better then other hardware places. Never had any issues with the people here. Always helpful and if they don’t have it they can get it in a day or two. That’s what I call service with a smile.

AWESOME selection of fasteners! I don’t need greeters that know Jack Schitt about anything they sell. It took me 20 minutes at Home Depot to get a simple answer on a toilet color. Everyone at this True Value location are helpful and KNOWledgeable.

Simi Valley True Value has a hardware selection that is unexpectedly amazing for a smaller store, but the thing I appreciate most about this store is the personnel; they are helpful, kind, and knowledgeable.

I’m a man and don’t need the Walmart greeter when I go to the hardware store. What I need is a great selection of hardware and intelligent help and this true value has both thanks

I really try to support small businesses here in Simi. I have never liked True Value, but went there this morning for a plumbing part because it was conveniently located. I’m never greeted when I walk into the store and today was no exception. Not only was I not greeted, but the girl behind the counter couldn’t be bothered to stop texting to greet me. Nobody acknowledged me so after a few moments, I went back to the counter and interrupted the girl’s texting. I asked her if I could get some help in plumbing. The guy that came over to help reeked of alcohol so bad, I was almost bowled over. I bought the part and left. I was never told Thank you or anything. As I was shopping in Vons, it was bothering me that this guy thought it was ok to show up for work reeking of alcohol so I went back in. I asked the guy himself«are you the manager» and he said«yeah, I am». So in front of the texting girl I said, «so you think it’s ok to come to work reeking of alcohol?» He said, «well that was from last night». I said, «so does that make it ok?» His reply was, «well I don’t drink at work». This is so unacceptable on so many levels. I asked some questions and as it turns out, texting girl is the owner’s daughter so I guess she has a «shoe in» of a job. She obviously could care less. I told both of them I’d be calling back to speak to the owner and alcohol boy says the owner isn’t there very much. What the heck is wrong with people??? That was my last trip to True Value. I’ll travel the extra minutes and go to Lowe’s, Home Depot or Do It Yourself. That’s ridiculous. That small business deserves to go down.

If you need hardware DONOT go anywhere else in the valley. True Value not only has everything you need in both metric and standard they keep it organized and their staff knows where everything is. I’ve already learned my lesson, drive past Depot, Lowes, DIY etc and just go to True Value.

It’s really important to me to support neighborhood businesses, so I was in a great mood visiting True Value in Simi to pick up some rocks to finish a yard project. I assume True Value’s been hanging on due to their rock/gravel/hardscape business and has otherwise taken a beating from Lowe’s and Home Depot. I also assumed that they would be sure to pay attention to details such as store appearance and customer service to help themselves to stay in business. When I arrived, the store was nearly deserted and the two female employees neither smiled nor welcomed me. They did answer my questions as to where I could find some items, but they didn’t return my smile or respond to a joking remark. I purchased two large bags of rock(which were kindly loaded into my car by a friendly young man) and an expensive pair of garden pruners. I began to walk away without signing my credit card slip and was called back to do so, which I did. I then walked out to the parking lot to open the car for the rock loading. Suddenly I realized that I didn’t have the pruners. The young woman who’d waited on me was leaving, so I called to her, asking about the pruners. She said, rather dismissively, that they were probably on the counter. I went in, and there they were. IF she had bagged the pruners and handed them to me and thanked me, I probably WOULDN’T have walked out without them! This is a small thing, I know, but customer service is huge for return business, and even more so for a little business competing with big box hardware stores. You’d think the owners would make sure the employees would work on their friendliness and service, wouldn’t you? Then again, this is a problem with many businesses, and when I’m treated shabbily, I tend to avoid those stores. A reminder to businesses that«Have a nice day» is not a substitute for«Thank you.»
