Dr. Whyte is a fantastic pediatrician. He’s very attentive, very caring and listens well to ALL of a mother/father’s concerns. He’s been our family pediatrician for the last 18 years and we’ve formed a solid dr/patient relationship. He knows the kids when they walk in, which makes them feel comfortable… that’s a huge deal! The only downside to his practice is the staff. He is now based out of Regal and they are unprofessional, their billing system/people have no clue what they are doing. I found that I spent more time dealing with them and their errors than I did trying to get the kids squared away. You have to be an aggressor when dealing with them which is unfortunate. They are the doctor’s first line of customer service. They are the face of them and they are failing the good doctors there.

I was recommended to Dr. Whyte seven years ago when my kids were toddlers. We’ve been with him ever since, and I couldn’t imagine being with another pediatrician. As a mother I appreciate how thorough he is and how willing he is to discuss my concerns — without making me feel silly for asking. As kids, my children always reference him as the doctor who puts chickens in their ears. He doesn’t really put chickens in their ears — just the noises.

Dr. Whyte and his staff were nice and I don’t doubt their level of expertise. However, this practice is not the one for me. I brought my infant son here for a regular check up. Unlike other pediatrician offices, it’s not kid-themed. Maybe they share the practice with non-pediatric doctors? Anyway, bright colors and toys go a long way to distracting toddlers. Another bad sign for me — while I was waiting, a man came in to speak to his Dr. He’d tried to return her call three times. Each time he was put on hold for over thirty minutes by their call service. The Dr. admitted that does sometimes happen when they’re very busy. That seems crazy to me! I didn’t have to wait long in the waiting room, but overall, getting shots for my baby took over an hour and 45 minutes! When the nurse was weighing my baby, the Dr. barged in and told her she needed to complete some paperwork for people waiting in the lobby right now. He didn’t apologize for the intrusion and the obviously overworked nurse walked out and left me in there without a word. Ten minutes later, the Dr. popped his head in to say he’d be there shortly. Ten minutes after that, he came in. After he left, I waited fifteen minutes for the nurse to bring in the shots. Who knows how long I would’ve waited if I hadn’t poked my head out and mentioned my wait to the nurse(who was filing papers). After she gave the shots, she walked out of the room again without saying a word. I didn’t know if that was it or what. Eventually, I just left. This is my second kid, so I’m not a super paranoid first-time mom or anything. I just would like a pediatric office that values my time and is geared a bit more towards kids.
