Excellent place to have dinner. They have a dining room area, bar area, and outside patio. There is a lot of room for parking. The beer selection is awesome, especially if you like craft beer! The prices are great as well! My fiancé and I ordered a Scotch egg and hot wings to start. The Scotch egg was amazing! The wings were full of flavor and big. We both ordered the French dip which is always good and full of flavor. Our server was nice and very knowledgable of the menu. We definitely will be back!

My sister and her fiancé had been constantly telling me they wanted to bring me here for the draft selection. Unfortunately we ended up here on a day where they were short on staff. I don’t want to knock too many stars because that obviously isn’t their fault if waitstaff decides to call off for the day, this is more a 2.5 than a 3 but still. I also didn’t get any food, I just wanted me some brews. I ordered a flight, and when one of the beers tapped out literally on my pour the waitress informed me someone would bring me out another… That replacement took quite awhile though. But again, not totally their fault. My biggest gripe is she didn’t tell me which beer was which. And considering I ordered multiple stouts I was a little begrudged, but eh. This happened on the second flight as well… K now that’s a little annoying, short on staff or not a waitress should know to tell me what I’m drinking. Overall, I would happily return in hopes that their staff is stocked, and the fact that they had an awesome draft selection. My company enjoyed their food as well, so maybe next time I’ll have a few bites along with my beer.

This is an excellent pub with great beer, food and service. It is locoed in a beautiful neighborhood just north of Reading. It is open on Sunday and Mondays, among other nights, which is a real bonus for the area.

Stopped here a few weekends ago because of the beer list with my uncle. He got the reuben and really enjoyed it. I got the Shepherd’s pie which was overcooked and a bit dried out. I have a feeling as long as you stick to burgers and sandwiches you should generally enjoy what you get. Certainly better than most of the restaurants or bars with foods you find up this way in Berks County but the selling point is definitely the rotating beers on tap.

Again, a wonderful place… good conversation and friendly people. A singer with guitar, sang nice songs, not too loud to stop what you were doing but was the perfect entertainer… he interacted just enough to make the evening more fun(I know, poor grammar). The food was really good! I had Shepard’s pie that was simple, tasty, comfort food, that grandmom used to make on a cold night, my wife had a delicious salad and a big crock of French onion soup! That too was perfect fit for this cold night out… Great selection of beers, English ales to American lagers, to Belgium and back, quite a few on tap too. …but the only thing I didn’t care for was they had a limited amount of spirits. I’m a whiskey drinker and they didn’t offer much variety. That’s it, but go for the food and the beer. Great place to have fun!

I give this place 2 simply because of the craft beer atmosphere that they have tried turned themselves into yet fall short when it comes to knowledge on beers. First I’ll tell u that appearance wise the bar has been extended and looks great. The food quality had improved, they have gone from so-so to some quality dishes. I ordered the french onion soup and salmon toasts, i saw my salmon toasts done b4 my soup yet the bartender waited until i finished my soup to bring it out… The craft beer selection has expanded and improved greatly, there is even«certificates» hanging that the servers have passed a couese yet except for the bar manager none of the bartenders have been able to describe any beer I’ve asked about or given me a quality follow-up to my 2nd beer.

Stopped in late night for a beer and a 6pk. Ended up getting awesome service from the manager who was incredibly knowledgeable of the craft beers. I also come here for lunch during the week and have always had awesome service. Stop in for a beer, it’s great!

Food is good, service is good, But turn down the music. It is very annoying to hold a conversation and to have to compete with their background music. Will not be back.

Astonished to find a place like this in the middle of rural PA. Really good beers on tap. Can’t comment on the food. Came after the kitchen was closed, so just had a beer. Since I was staying at the Jesuit Retreat Center, had to try the Spencer Abbey Ale — really excellent.

Very nice Irish pub and restaurant. We had the French Dip. Everything about it was delicious and the hand-cut chips were tasty. The staff was very knowledgable about all the beers they carry. Very accommodating. Would come here again.

A stone’s throw away from Blue Marsh Lake and at the intersection of Brownsville and State Hill road, you’ll find Ganly’s, an inviting, small-town bar/pub with Irish flair. What it lacks in whimsy is more than made up by its charming architecture and comfort food laden menu. Pub fare is the main attraction here, which includes a familiar offering of wings, nachos, quesadillas, fries, shrimp, and dips. It’s comfort food at its finest, with a comforting atmosphere to boot. Beyond the finger food, I wouldn’t recommend any of the entrees. Steaks and seafood are oft-overcooked and dry/tough. Stick with the sandwiches and apps, and you’ll be in good hands. EERYLOCALTIDBIT: Grocery store mogul Gary Redner of Redner’s Market’s was murdered shortly after exiting Ganly’s Pub back in 2008. This is currently an unsolved murder. If you know anything that can help police catch Gary Redner’s killer, you can call Crime Alert with your anonymous tip at 877−373−9913. A cash reward of up to $ 120,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.

Another hometown spot that has vastly improved since I ate here as a child. I have to admit, I was a little turned off when my parents suggested going to Ganly’s when I came home to visit them but they assured me that it was different and the beer list was the selling point. The place looks exactly the same as it always has but it seemed cleaner. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the bar and outdoor seating area as opposed to the dining room area. It was practically empty on that side o the restaurant. The bar staff were busy and the TVs were loud but it is supposed to be a casual atmosphere. The service was average as it was mostly kids home from college working the room. The beer list was definitely the selling point. They had a number of unique standard and rotating selections and they were relatively cheap. I don’t think there were any choices above $ 8 which is always nice. The food was also good. The burgers seemed to be the highlight at my table. I went with the BBQ burger and it was exceptionally good. The beef was quality, the peppered cheese gave it some spice, and the BBQ sauce was made with bourbon. Overall, I would come here for the beer. The food was good for bar food but I can’t say I would go back just to eat.

Neat place! Food was good but not great but overall this was a good evening for me. The bartender was nice and the menu had plenty of options. Great beer selection! This is in the middle of nowhere though. Some people may like that but I am on the fence. The clientele they attract, at least when I was there was age appropriate for me. I will return when i have a chance to go out again.

I wanted to write up something short about Ganly’s Pub and Restaurant, since I visit from time to time on a whim. Recently they have undergone a transformation; inside renovation and a complete overhaul of menu and beer selection. It now offers one of the best beer selections in the area, and a menu of «Authentic» Irish food. I’ve tried many things on the menu and I’ve been pretty satisfied with it as a whole. The Meatloaf was a bit dry, but the Reuben was spot-on. I will say that for all of the good things Ganly’s has going for it, there was one glaring, personally insulting negative; no mashed potatoes before 4. I shouldn’t have to rant on about how crazy that is as a policy, especially for an establishment that touts Irish food and serves lunch so I digress. A simple fix, and one I’d highly recommend. Give Ganly’s a change for lunch sometime. Ask for a good pairing beer to go with your meal.

I am a little surprised by the raves of good food here. It is a neat little place away from everything(love that) but the food is only ok. Not worth really going to if you are looking for a really good meal. But, if you just want some bar type irish food and a drink near the lake… this is the place for you.

After 20 plus years this Pub saw its first changes and they’re great changes. New bar, new menu, new management, very knowledgeable bartender and new owner. Huge new copper bar with a great selection of craft beer. The roasted pear salad is bangin!
