HuHot Mongolian Grill

Kind of a hodgepodge, not exactly Asian type of place. A place that does seem to work well with young families (so not great if you are in a rush — kids take time in the buffet line)
They do seem to be pretty good about taking a few minutes to help people if they have special needs — but they are stretched pretty thin in the service side of things, in part due to the choice to do a very small soft drink glass and cleaning after the kids
Why did I say «not exactly Asian» — 2 styles of sausage (think more of brat rather then Chinese sausage), and Mexican black beans (I mistook them for the Asian black bean, which is fermented soybeans)
Not a bad place, good fit for young families, or younger couples out for an evening — but its a place to eat rather then going out for a meal

fabulous food hot grilled you make your own bowl and they cook it right in front of you… great service… you wont be disappointed!

As I visit huhot over the years I am starting to notice that the service and the quality of the meat and vegetables are going downhill rapidly… I still enjoy the food but I would like to say that they could do better.

Loved it! Great variety and the service was very good. Seems to be a popular place in spite of it’s slightly hard to spot location. Ate there twice while in town, and spent around $ 25 each time, leaving happy and full.

One of the average mongolian bbq places I’ve been to. Maybe it was the way I made my dish but I’m going to believe it will turn out better if you pick the right meats and sauces.

I have been to many Mongolian grills all over the US and this really is a cut above. Most other places do not offer the large selection of meats, vegetables and most of all, the sauces. You could have Thai (yellow curry), Korean (chilli and garlic) and Chinese (sweet an sour) all within the same visit. It’s amazing! And if you lessen the amount of sauce you use, it actually can be quite healthy. It can be noisy, but I’m usually too busy chowing down on yummy food to notice. Don’t forget to add the coconut topper at the end of the line. Delish!

Where to start… hmm. ok! For starters I wouldn’t recommend going during the evenings on the weekend. The noise level is horrible and a struggle to hold a conversation. Customer service is average. Servers can be slow at times, however the grill workers are pretty good. They maintain a positive attitude, haven’t had a problem and doesn’t take too long. Price really depends on when you go, personally recommend sticking to weekday lunches. Overall food is good, but slow service and walking out with a headache attribute to the lowered rating.

My first time at a HuHot. I have been to similar places like BD’s Mongolian Grill — so I was consistently comparing it to BD’s…
Overall the experience was passable but the food was below average. I ordered the pot stickers and they came with a duck sauce you might put on egg rolls. They were not good and I only finished two of four. The hot and sour soup was well below average — no tofu in the whole bowl and so so flavor.
The food I placed in the bowl and had grilled wasn’t too bad. The Kahn’s Revenge sauce was good and had a «sneak up» heat that built over time.
I won’t go back.

What is the deal with this place? The food is good — basically an uncooked buffet where you determine exactly how you want the food flavored. They’re sensitive to food allergies. It’s moderately interesting to watch them cook up the food (not exactly Beni-Hana’s). But frnakly, it would be better to choose what you want, then have them bring the stuff to you once it’s cooked so you aren’t standing there like a dweeb watching them cook while making small talk.
And I have no idea what the issue is, but that restaurant is LOUD! When the building housed a rib joint — Naps — it was loud. It’s still loud. Something with the acoustics there, but I always leave with a headache.
There are better places… after eating here a dozen times over a couple of years it’s off my list.

Hey! This place is ALLERGY FRIENDLY! (I’m Celiac, gluten free) And not just by having an allergy-​alert menu, they’re actually friendly to people with allergies — as in they don’t make you feel like you CHOSE your allergy just to be a pain in their butts! I love that they clean half the grill, JUST for you. They’ll also bring you your sauces/​noodles from the back so that you are certain it hasn’t been slopped with nasty, non-​friendly sauces. And boy, it’s so much fun to watch them cook the food in front of you!
I had a great experience: they were sure to explain everything to me (I’m a first timer, there’s no HuHot in Minneapolis where I live), they smiled, they made sure I had what I needed when I needed it, and they smiled some more.
Oh, and the food is super tasty. Get two bowls, or you’ll be making WAY too many trips to the grill!

My wife and I don’t eat here often, but we’re definitely fans. The place is a bit expensive per person, but the fact that we can go up as many times as we like adds value AND the fact that we know exactly what’s in our meal is GREAT! I love being able to put my own ingredients together and getting exactly what I want.
The novelty of watching them cook the food has worn off for me, but the great taste of my finished product is what keeps my rating high.

We went to Hu Hot with a couple of friends while visiting Sioux City, since they’re recommending and paying for it. Hu Hot is your typical franchise. The place is clean and looked quite new. It’s all-​you-​can-​eat buffet style, and some of the ingredients are not fresh and looked questionable. The price is not cheap either, even though I did not paying for our dinner.
I would not come back here if I am paying for it. If they’re opening one in Atlanta, I probably won’t go. I think they’re only located in the Midwest, which not much you can do there.

Mongolian grills are better than typical Asian buffets.
This place has most basic stir fry meats and veggies with a few twists like pineapple and tomato for the sweet-​n-​sour crowd.
It is a LOUD place, so be warned.
Anyway, the key is you can customize and experiment more.
You can go carnivore or vegetarian.
You can go spicy or sweet… or BOTH.
You may also use so much sodium in one meal you have to cut off your shoes later. So, for God sakes, be careful out there!

Love this place, it’s one of the few where I can get a decent vegetarian meal that suits my tastes. The previous review sums up the way this place works, however, you have to be a little daring and mix things up! Make your own sauce and don’t follow the recipes. I’m not in to wasting food, however, if you don’t like it, toss it and start over! Try the concoctions of the others at your tables! Learn what goes together well and what doesn’t with only a fraction of the effort it would take in your own home. Have an adventure.
