I’ve been there a half dozen times since they opened and it’s been a gradual decline with each visit. The last time was a week before Christmas when three co-workers and their wives came to town and were staying at the hard rock hotel. They asked me to meet them for dinner somewhere and after I made a few other suggestions, they decided on the buffet at hard rock because the wives didn’t want to go out in the cold. We got there about 5:30 on a Thursday and there was probably only 15 or 20 people in the restaurant and most of those were employees. The salad bar was probably the best part of the meal, Some of the other items looked as though they had been there a while and were dried out or overcooked. The prime rib was the smallest I’ve ever seen and very chewy with little or no flavor. The Chinese food was pasty & bland, the green beans were raw and the only thing I found that was good were the ribs. The biggest thing I noticed was the lack of employees behind the buffet itself, we had to flag someone down to find a person to carve meat for us. We were never offered refills on any of our beverages and after asking a employee walking by for another napkin, I ended up going up by the cashier and grabbed another set of silverware because the employee never came back. If the management, chef’s and employee’s goal is to drive customers away to eat somewhere else, all I can say is mission accomplished!

Nothing special. Went there for Thanksgiving and wished I had cooked myself immediately. Hostess stand is so unorganized it’s just plain weird. The only bathrooms are out in the casino and are one person occupancy, men and women’s. Ask for a piece of carved meat and you get a toddler size portion. The pecan pie was delicious, though. You pay for what you get but if you have ever eaten at a fancy hotel buffet, I mean a really fancy one, you will totally be disappointed. The wait staff was very friendly I must note.

The worst thing that can happen to a restaurant is when the chef recognizes he has a problem but does not move to fix it. The van driver that took me to the Hard Rock warned me that the buffet was not very good and had problems. Numerous Unilocal reviews also documented nagging problems. Despite this warning, I was somehow drawn in because it steak night. The front of house staff was quick and efficient. Overall the buffet line seen clean and the food was well presented. The biggest problem was that all of the food was lukewarm to cold. I even ordered the sirloin with blue cheese crumbles on top that was heated. Amazingly, this was even served cold. Fried shrimp and crab cakes? Cold. Green beans, cold. Baked potato? Lukewarm. Hello Chef! You’re warming trays are not working properly. Fix it please!

This pretty much average casino buffet food. I’ve only been there for lunch, so I can’t say if dinner is any different. Nothing really stands out, but nothing is really bad either. I’m not sure why people say this is cheap, because I’ve always spent about $ 16 for lunch. The prime rib is probably the best of everything on the buffet. I would also expect more variety or choices, but it’s pretty much the basics. I love the décor, but if you need to use the restroom, you better go before you enter, since there are none in the restaurant. You have to walk through the smokey casino to use the bathroom. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here, but it is just off the interstate, so it is convenient, if you are driving through town.

I will begin this review by saying I’m not a picky eater but when it comes to quality… I’m incredibly picky. After having spoken with the head Chef, a couple weeks ago and being offered 2 free buffets I tried this place out. I tried many different things… went up 3 times plus 1 time for dessert. But I ate very little. First of all… NOTHING on hot buffets were hot… It was all lukewarm at best. The only hot food item was a brownie and that was about the best tasting item I had. I tried the macaroni salad… a good old comfort food from my childhood. It wasn’t bad but nothing shouted at me to have more… very tasteless but the noodles were cooked prefect. Moving on to the Chinese area… Fried rice and green beans were my favorite from the entire buffet. Rice had a nice taste and so did the green beans… although when I went back to get more green beans they had just refilled and the sauce was all lumpy and they have a spoon… A spoon and green beans don’t go well. One look at the eggrolls told me to back away… they appeared to have been barely fried… didn’t look fresh either. Tried the general pao chicken. Tried the pork steamed dumpling and that first bite told me to not take another… it had such an awful tast. The chicken was slimy and the taste just wasn’t there. Off to the Italian… no thanks!!! I’m married to one and over cooked pasta and other very non authentic foods… Just thought I’d try the chicken parmesan before judging… but as I went to lift a piece… the smell was horrific! Seriously I am not making this up! Off to the Mexican corner… Carne asada was so dried up I wasn’t going to attempt. I took a couple taquitos and a small beef enchilada and side of green sauce. Those taquitos are not freshly made and not even made in the kitchen on location. It tasted like what you’d buy in a box at Walmart. The beef enchilada was full of some creamy mixture and last time I checked… beef wasn’t creamy!!! The green sauce??? Not even sure what that was! Next I tried the sliced beef and peppers… no thanks! Beef tasted aged… as in old! Off to the carving board area. The ham looked delicious and smelled good too! One bite and it was mushy… Didn’t go for a 2nd bite! Prime rib appeared to be juicy and cooked to perfection and I thought it’d melt In my mouth… Nope… tough and chewy! Tried a crispy herbed potato… cold…and greasy! I was quite excited when I seen crab cakes… until I was back at the table and cut it and that overwhelming fishy smell reached my senses… I decided to take a bite… Don’t do it! It’s so fishy and just not good! At this point I said forget it and decided I’d just have dessert! I had a couple bites of cherry pie… nothing special. Not even the cherry pie filling was of quality! Cheesecake… one bite and I knew it was out of a box… yuk! Now for the hot brownie, you can top it with hot chocolate sauce or a caramel one… I choose neither as the brownie seemed to have a light frosting. The brownie was good and the only hot item we had. My beverage was dark like a good ice tea should be but it only tasted like water!!! How does that happen? The service by the waitresses was fine… drinks filled and plates cleared! I wouldn’t go back and I would not recommend this place. It’s just nothing special. After talking to the head Chef I had big expectations and they were not all fulfilled! The only good thing about it is we didn’t have to pay for it!

I loved this buffet… They had several things I loved, including these incredible pot stickers… but the true excellence was both the brisket and the prime rib… never at a buffet have i had meat that was this tender… damn near melted in my mouth… the price was average for a casino buffet, but considering the quality of both the service and the food, I was happy to pay it… It’s a shame I live as far from here as I do cause I’d love to come back

the world tour buffet was a hoping place when we chose to fine there. We were quite hungry and tired from all day driving. I was surprised the beverage did not come with the meal and was ordered at the register as buffets are often pre paid. There was a bike race in town and so maybe this is not the way the buffet is usually kept but I was disappointed to see how poorly the upkeep was when I first toured around to determine what I might feast on. There were warm rolls and butter(the pretzel knots were my choice and quite tasty) The salad bar was in shambles so I decided to by pass that area. The next area was Asian inspired entrees, with some fried items like egg rolls and wontons. Some looked a little scary but the items I tried were tasty. Next was Mexican which was basic and needed restocked. The home style items like fried chicken. My husband enjoyed the carving station and thought the sausage on there was amazing. He would probably give a higher review as he loves meat and they served many options in that area. I think the food was good and maybe they just didn’t have enough staff to ensure the proper cleanliness and restocking of the line. If in the area I would go back but on a less busy day.

I don’t really like buffets so I gave it a higher rating than I would otherwise. Lots of food choices. Friendly staff. Not super clean and the kitchen people spent a lot of time talking to each other with a bit of swearing. I always prefer eateries where they take their food seriously. I didn’t get that impression here. But the price was right. Parking was good and easy access from the frwy and there is a casino attached for some video games after lunch.

The Hard Rock World Tour Lunch was a little to be desired. Food: there are a lot of choices that can be enjoyed. However, the taste of some items not so good and others good. The fajita meat was cold, we were the first to dine so no reason for food to be cold already. The pork chops tasted great. The brightest spot was the deserts, very tasty. Service: horrible service, we saw our waitress one time and it took forever for her to show up to our table. Again we were the first to be seated. Overall the food could have been better and the service was lacking.

As far as dining in Sioux City, this may be as close to Vegas as you’ll get. The buffet looks and feels like a less expensive cousin of the Wicked Spoon and other famous Vegas buffets: 1) beautiful, spacious and clean interior with rock music playing and a contemporary, urban aesthetic. 2) a variety of foods. You’ll have the following to choose from: 1) salad station(don’t waste your space!), 2) Asian(in this case, Chinese food) station 3) Italian station, 4) Mexican station, 5) carving station(meat and american comfort food), and of course 6) a desert station.(See attached pics) 3) competitive prices. Dinner on a weekday is only $ 15.00, with $ 1.00 extra for a pop. Overall, the food is good enough(not earth-shattering) and service is very good for a buffet. I recommend!
