Love the Diner! Great place for a hot beef or burger and definitely a milkshake! Love the atmosphere too. Been there many times and never disappointed!

I love getting a burger and fries here. The fries with ranch dipping sauce are my weakness. I rarely have to wait long for a table, and I always get fast, friendly service. The milkshakes are also exactly what you would want, thick and delicious. I’ve never had a bad meal here. I’ve always been treated kindly and would recommend eating here for a summer meal and then walking the Sculpture Walk afterward. :)

I’ve been here twice now — 18 months apart because I live 1000 miles away — and both times it was excellent. I would give it 5 stars if it were a little less expensive, but we spent over $ 20 for 2 people when we shared a burger, so 4 stars it is. I recommend the Spicy G burger and the sweet potato fries, with a Purple Cow to wash it down. I also recommend you check out their daily specials and plan your trip accordingly.

Just read in the news that this is the #1 place in South Dakota for shakes. So we got off the plane from California and headed straight to Phillip’s for a Smore shake and the Emmanomnom shake. I couldn’t even say which one is better but if I had to choose, I would say the Smore because of the freshly charred mini marshmallows on top. We really wanted to have the Poutine but they were fresh out of gravy. And what’s Poutine without the gravy. Settled for the SD style pork Jambalaya and it was DELICIOUS. Also had the chicken and waffles and a regular burger. Service was superb and all the food was very tasty. We’ll be back earlier for the Poutine.

We stopped here on a whim and were thoroughly impressed! We had a yummy burger melt(a diner that lets you sub in a black bean burger, yay!). I can’t reccommend the smores shake enough, it was blow your socks off good!

Really nice for what it is. There’s nothing unique about retro diner schtick, but it can be done in very halfhearted ways. Phillips Ave Diner doesn’t make that mistake. It’s in a very quaint, walkable part of downtown with a lot of charm. The diner is well-kept & updated without losing the retro appeal. There’s a very nice outdoor area, where we sat to enjoy the evening. They have lots of classic diner comfort food, but all of it is done with a twist. I went for two starters because I couldn’t decide on one thing. I had poutine and loaded chili. The poutine was excellent. The chili was bland but chunky. The kids really liked their burgers and Mac and cheese, but I think the real winner was the shakes. I had a coffee, which had no flavor, but the kids and wife loved their shakes. Very good service too.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. I will miss you, Phillips Avenue Diner! I stayed in Sioux Falls for a week and ate here with my family every day. The staff were the friendliest people we’d met our whole visit. The food is amazing, don’t let the word diner fool you. YOU’VEGOTTOEATTHECHEESECURDS. The sticky noodle salad is also reeeeally awesome. I like their burger and fries, jambalaya and chili. Even their fruit cup is fresh! Eat here, you won’t regret it! I only wish I’d had a chance to try their pies

Nice casual dining/diner environment in the downtown area. Good, friendly service. Had a great cup of hot tea, and the breakfast scrambler, without the hollandaise sauce. It was very good, filled with red and sweet potatoes, red peppers and fed spinach… Some cheddar cheese. My BF had the Southwest chicken wrap and said it was tasty. Recommend for a local dining experience. Nice outdoor seating is available.

Downtown Sioux Falls is loaded with great restaurant options and this is one of them. I was here for breakfast on a Friday morning. They seem to excel at breakfast as the«Diner» moniker might suggest. Service was prompt and attentive. I was treated to coffee and ice water 90 seconds after being seated. I ordered the«2×2×2» which is two eggs, two strips of bacon, and two pieces of French toast(upon recommendation from my server). I also had to add some hashbrowns. All of my items delivered. The French toast was fresh and hot. There was some nutmeg in them that I know turns my kids off, but I like. The eggs were a spot on over easy. The bacon, while a bit smallish, was the right mix of crispy and meaty. Hashbrowns were the right call to soak up my egg yolks. Glad I got them. Nice and crispy. Great experience. Great start to my day. Hell, it was a Friday, so they made a great start to my whole weekend.

This is what you want. Stop now. Drop everything. Get the farmers scramble, the pancakes, or the Vanilla Malt. Better yet, get all three!

After many hours of travel, it was around 6PM on a Wednesday, metered street parking available right out front(is free after a certain time), and seated immediately on their lovely outdoor patio. Everything sounded good. We atarted with hearty Poutine as an appetizer. $ 8.00 for a hefty portion, it has pulled pork on it and the gravy was great. Outstanding dish. Next, Diner Corndogs which for $ 9.50, getting 4, hand dipped and perfectly fried all beef short dogs and fries, delicious and fresh! We finished with a turtle sundae for $ 4.50 and it too was FABULOUS. What a marvelous find!!!

Stopped in quite hungry and so glad I did. Friendly, excellent service from the moment I walked in. I love diners and was thinking about a traditional breakfast, but decided to give the breakfast poutine a try. Let’s just say that was a GOOD decision! All the ingredients were delicious and fresh. It was absolutely perfect. I also had a delicious cup of English breakfast tea. Everything was wow and yum!!! Now I am anticipating the cinnamon roll i got for later!

Phillips Avenue Diner is cute. We came for a weekday lunch and wow this place gets super busy! My husband had the Reuben and we both really liked it. The Russian dressing on the sandwich was phenomenal. This is a must have sandwich. The mashed potatoes were fine, albeit soupy from too much brown gravy. I had the crispy chicken salad. It was average, although the ranch was a total showstopper. It was the watery, delicious ranch that is the best, and the dressing did not disappoint. The salad itself fell a little flat. Some of the lettuce was a little wilted and the chicken was good, but not super fresh. The service was on point. I felt like the waiter was running totally ragged with a full restaurant, so I wish they would staff more appropriately. Regardless, he was friendly and efficient. All in all, good for a lunch, but not the stand out experience you can have at other places in Sioux Falls.

This was a good breakfast spot. Clean diner. Good portions. We had the Breakfast poutine –tried curds for the first time-not a huge fan but I loved the bacon and sweet potatoes and gravy. Farmers scrambler was a delicious dish. Would like to go back for lunch menu too.

Perfect place to stop in for dinner on a long road trip. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. I had the chicken strip sandwich with sweet potato fries and it was SO good. I cleaned my plate. If i wasn’t so full afterwards, I would have ended the meal with one of their milkshakes; they just sounded so good! It was a great experience for us, and I would highly recommend it.

No-nonsense diner food done well. Fresh and flavorful ingredients. The hubs and I each had an omelet. Aldente vegetables, and a nice crisp on the hash browns, without being greasy. Pleasant atmosphere. Excellent service — props to Margie.

This was a solid diner in Sioux Falls. I went here for a late brunch around 12:30. The wait was about 25 minutes so my party and I strolled down Phillips street to check out local shops. This place is definitely busy but highly accurate on the wait time. All four of us got different things. Together we had the hot turkey sandwich, breakfast burrito and two kitchen sink burgers. The burgers had fried mac and cheese, meat patties and pork on them. Both my boo and our friend loved it. You get your choice of fries, fruit mix, salad or sweet potato fries. The hot turkey sandwich was pretty standard with turkey gravy and white bread. They also had a beef one that looked pretty good. The breakfast burrito was huge! It came with salsa on top and was stuffed with potatoes, meat, eggs, cheese and other veggies. Everything was really good but being SD not very spicy. We did get two complimentary sundaes for the birthday boys, and I had a special of the month shake. It was a pumpkin pie shake and it was delicious! Pieces of pie/cookie crust and yummy ice cream with whip cream and a cherry. This diner is super cute with a solid menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you’re in Sioux Falls, stop by and eat here.

Warning: High chance of quite literally bursting at the seams and falling into a food coma after consuming their breakfast poutine. With that said, don’t deprive your body — you know you want it. I was surprised to find poutine on the menu here — being in the Midwest and for breakfast, no less. Needless to say, I decided against my usual eggs benny. Crispy potatoes, cheese curds, meat gravy, bacon, diced tomatoes topped with a glistening sunny side-up. The high caloric content is not for the faint of heart but if you come hungry, it will be the most amazing first bite. It is incredibly rich in flavor and texture. Any other option on the menu will be healthier in comparison and, from what I’ve heard, does not disappoint. But trust me, the breakfast poutine is worth a try — even if it means you’ll still be working it off months later. This place seems to be a local favorite and one of the best in Sioux Falls. Plenty of outdoor seating and view is gorgeous on a sunny day. The only negative was pace as we waited 25 mins+ for our food(Saturday ~9:00am). That and the potential weight gain. But no gain no gain, right?
