6÷2016− A really great traditional thin style pizzeria with friendly service and clean dining room. Also, a great family value in an area were tourism rates prevail. Well done!

Tasty thin crust«mushroom, black olive pizza», baked to perfection! This is a great place to stop and relax after a long day of hiking. The owners were gracious and attentive. We noticed they knew a lot of people by name. The gelato looked great and people were walking in or taking out gelato as they finished their meals. We will certainly stop by next time we are in Door County. Beautiful grounds and flowers, by the way.

I’ve been here many times with my mom, and the food is consistently excellent. I did get scolded, however, for having my feet(sporting slipper-like ballet flats) on the vinyl booth seat… apparently they were just reupholstered. Sorry, mom.

Yesterday, we made the 10-hour trek to Door County for the annual Polar Bear swim. We had 10 teenagers with us(in two cars). They were of course«STARVING» when we hit Door County so we decided to go to Joe Jos even before going to our hotel. We called ahead of time to let them know that they would be invaded by a large group and also placed our order. When we arrived, they had our table all ready and within minutes of sitting down, the pizzas arrived at our table. We ordered a variety of different toppings on our pizzas(cheese, sausage, pepperoni, etc.) and all were hot and delicious. A few of us got their special salad as well and it was really good too. Oh, and the rootbeer comes in frosted mugs and it’s really good. Afterwards, all of the kids got gelato and loved it. Our waitress, Lynn and the owner, Dick were SUPER friendly and the service for our large group was nothing less than OUTSTANDING. Thank you Joe Jo’s for a great meal and service! We’ll be back!

The atmosphere was minimal and the service curt. The pizza had an almost undetectable amount of sauce on it and was very disappointing. The ONLY reason to stop here is the house made gelato, otherwise skip it.

While visiting the area for the first time, we decided to visit Joe Jo’s. After any experience with a business, the question is always«would I do that again?» Without question-yes. The food was superb, but Kathy and Dick made us feel like we were part of their family. Being from Southern California, we’d brave a Wisconsin winter to visit Joe Jo’s.

I can’t speak to the pizza, but the«gelato» at this place is horrific. First off, it’s NOT gelato. It’s ice cream, and terrible ice cream at that. My dad and I were driving by on a lovely fall afternoon and decided to stop in for some gelato. He wanted to get some to bring home and have with pie. He asked for vanilla, and the lady behind the counter pointed to the stracciatella. OK, so, stracciatella? It’s vanilla gelato with FLAKESOFCHOCOLATEINIT. This didn’t have any chocolate in it. It was just white. «That’s your vanilla?» my dad asked uncertainly. «Well,» said the lady, «it doesn’t have any vanilla in it. It’s our version of vanilla. It’s just a base flavor.» And that’s when I fled screaming, your honor. No, but okay, so he decided to get it anyway, despite it not having actual vanilla in it. Against my better judgment, I got a junior size of the cookie dough, because, all right, I wasn’t going to get actual gelato, but how do you f*** up cookie dough ice cream? Seemed like a safe bet. I couldn’t have been more wrong. I’m not sure whether it had any actual cookie dough in it, because my first mouthful was a goopy, wrong-textured bunch of – well, you know how really cheap«cookie”-scented candles smell? That weird, chemical-y, plastic-y, sickly sweet cloying scent. Yeah, they flavored this stuff with THAT, apparently. I wasn’t enough of a masochist to take a second spoonful. Great gellato — we tried coconut(like Almond Joy) and strawberry lemonade. Pizza was made right by us w/hand-tossed crust. Yummy.

Family run pizza place. Good pizza. Hot roast beef sandwich with peppers was good. It could have been a little bigger. Best dessert is their gelato. Plenty of flavor choices.

The pizza was good based on our expectations. We wanted something that was good for the family and a price. We were not looking for Wild Tomato which is premium. The prices and menu is limited and I would recommend that they offer specialty pizzas. We wanted veggie but was to expensive to add all the veggies.

3 out of 4 people in my party really enjoyed their pizza. I totally disliked their pizza due to the fact that there was very little sauce on our pizzas. When the place gets busy, the level of service drops too much. With Ephraim being a «dry town» all you get is a non-alcoholic beer to wash down a less than average pizza. I wasn’t overly thrilled with the atmosphere and it seems a lot like another pizza business that occupied the same building a few years back.

If you like thin crust pizza then you have to check Joe Jo’s out. I live in the Chicago-land area and this is some of the best pizza I have ever had. If you want your crust crispy, ask for your pizza to be well done. The gelato is delicious! I usually go with the Black Forest which is chocolate with cherries. The gelato can be a bit pricey but definitely worth it.

Best thin crust pizza I have ever had. Ask for extra crispy. Coming from Chicago, I have had my fair share of different types and styles of pizza. I only come up to Door County once a year and have to stop here at least twice. They also offer a good variety of homemade gelato. I had the German Chocolate gelato and thought it was delicious. If your looking for pizza defiantly do not pas this place up.

We stayed across the street at Somerset Inn, Angie told us to try Wild Tomato because it’s one of her favorites. It was too busy so we called for take away as a second option. We should have stuck out the 1 hot wait at Wild Tomato, I’ve had frozen pizzas better than this. We ordered pepperoni and got cheese. Not even worth the picture… a gooey and greasy mess.

My favorite pizza. Crispy, hand tossed, thin crust. Order the extra large, because it’s that good. As far as the negative reviews go, I’ve never had a bad experience here. Service is always friendly and the owners are super nice. I’ve been eating here for years, and have never been disappointed.

Me and my mom and aunt all had our own pizzas. I had pepperoni & pineapple, aunt had Canadian bacon & pineapple and mom had black olives. All of them were amazingly fantastic! I love the thin crust and it was baked perfectly. This place has a typical pizza joint feel to it. You get to watch the cook toss the dough which was awesome. Then we had to have the homemade gelato. OMG. They make it here with only Italian ingredients. So amazing. So next time your in Door County, stop in Ephraim and eat at Joe Joe’s!

Pizza was okay — thin crust not crispy, slight trace of sauce. Service pretty awful. We were sat in back corner and forgot about. We probably won’t be returning.

We were on vacation in Door County and my daughter wanted Italian, we passed by and decided to go for an early supper. Menu — I was surprised to find that the menu was very limited. We got pizza, it was about the only option. No specialty options just an everyday pizza with thin crust. Staff — I was not impressed by the staff. They had a good size dining room but sat guests in the booths, back to back(there were only 3 tables of guests). It was very awkward. To add to the awkwardness, three girls stood behind the counter just staring at us and the other 2 tables. At first they only left the counter to go get drinks or refills. None of them stopped to pick up my empty glass as they got their drinks. I almost just got up and refilled my own drink. When the first table left the 3 were efficient and cleaned up their table before the guests were even out the door. It would have been nice if they could have helped wait on guests instead of stare at them. Décor — The booths were dated and uncomfortable. You could feel and see the springs under the vinyl. On the walls they had several 8×10 amateur photos hanging with hand written $ 60 price tags. Food — We ordered the bread sticks and they were average. We ordered a pizza that again was just average, but not worth the inflated price. This was not a great experience.

I ate here with my family last weekend, and we all really enjoyed the pizza and the gelato. The pizza has a very thin crust. It’s thin enough that you may want a larger pizza than you expect. The toppings are good quality and the sauce is flavorful. The gelato is lovely. It’s possible to get it in very small cups, which I appreciated. The Kahlua Mint Chocolate didn’t taste much of Kahlua(thankfully) but instead was a great mint chocolate.

Thin crust doesn’t really describe this pizza accurately. It’s super thin, almost crackery, and super tasty! My parents say it reminds them of the pizza they used to get as teens in the 60s. Good cheese, fresh toppings, clean restaurant, friendly service. I’ve always found Joe Jo’s to be very accommodating, even seating our large group only minutes before their posted closing time. And then there is the gelato. Come for the pizza, stay for the gelato. Or just come for the gelato. It’s the best around! Great flavors, and some are different than the typical flavors you see at other places. It’s dense and very flavorful – a little goes a long way! Another great feature about Joe Jo’s is that they are open year-round, a rarity in Door County, so I appreciate being able to get their pizza and gelato even in the«off season.»
