Slidell Rocks Climbing Gym

I’ve been here a few times, and each time has always been fun! The staff is amazing; they’re incredibly helpful and friendly. If you’re looking for a good way to get a little workout and have fun without the humidity and heat, I highly recommend Slidell Rocks!

I love this place! Walked in to check it out and Charlie approached me to see how he could help. He gave me a tour of the place with a brief intro to climbing and bouldering and explanation of how everything works. I asked if I could watch the climbers for awhile and was met with welcoming open arms. I ended up trying it out myself and I’m hooked! It’s SO much fun and there are walls and routes for all levels — you can be a beginner and still get to feel accomplished, and there are many ways to keep challenging yourself and meet your skills as you advance. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, and one of the instructors Justin answered my exhaustive list of questions about climbing. I felt very safe here, in good hands with knowledgeable employees whose passion was inspiring and infectious. This place is awesome!

This was a lot of fun! I had a good time and the guy on the floor was very watchful of everyone spotting — made sure we all understood the ropes and explained it and assisted as many times as were necessary. Super patient with us all.
There is a small bouldering cave and multiple walls with colorful tape trails that very in difficulty.
Wednesday night is Student night — free equipment rental! Also, there were signs that the 1^st and 3^rd Fridays of the month were kids nights — parents can drop off their children with staff to act as spotters and do not have to be present while their children climb. Date night where the kids come home exhausted from fun? Sounds like brilliant marketing!

this place was great from the moment we walked in! the staff treated us great I brought my 3 kids 15−11−8 and all 3 had a blast .we will be back sooner than later

My family of four went on a Saturday afternoon. There was one person working the counter. So after she took the money, she then had to get the harnesses and instruct everyone how to wear them and how to tighten. The lady in front of us in line wanted to reserve a bday party. She also wanted a tour of the facilities which the counter lady had to show was well. She was very patient and nice and it was finally our turn.
they had about 3 teenagers working in the rock climbing area instructing people how to spot and work the ropes. It was pretty crowded and we had to wait our turn before we could climb a particular wall.
The place was smaller than expected. Walls ranged from easy to hard depending on the angle.
We had a great time. Its a workout whether you are the one climbing or working the pulley system.
Words of advice… pay attention to how sensitive the lever is to lower the climber;)

It’s fun, it’s cheap, and the staff are all REALLY helpful. They have a number of different walls that are different levels, and a smaller section for bouldering (climbing lower heights without a rope). It’s only $ 1 to rent a chalk bag and like $ 2 to rent climbing shoes :)

No one has written a review of the only place in the greater Nola area to climb fake rock walls?
Well, I guess i’ll have to do it!
I came here with a group of friends because of a living social deal. I’ve rock wall climbed before, in Boston, but found it too expensive to be a regular hobby of mine. I was pleasantly surprised at Slidell Rocks at seeing that the prices are $ 11 for a day pass and only a few more for all of the equipment! $ 15 and you have an all day activity– they even sell hot food for your lunch.
When I went, the lady behind the desk was supposed to charge me to rent those funny shoes, but gave them to me for free. They took their time in explaining the safety of using the harnesses and even helped us each out with our first few runs. At one point later in the day the rope slipped too quickly through my hands and I let my fiancé freefall a few feet… right before he would’ve crashed to the ground surely breaking a few bones staff rushed over and secured the harnessy thingy. I really like that they have so many staff around helping you, giving instructions, and cheering you on. Plus, they might’ve saved my fiancé’s life.
Overall it’s a great little climbing gym. It’s cheap. It’s run by lovely people who make you feel at home. There’s enough staff to keep you safe. They offer food and children’s birthday parties. It’s clean. It’s super fun! So go check it out!
