The Fox Hole Oyster Bar and Grill

The food was really good especially for the price. Royal red oversized shrimp was so meaty and very delicious. Also recommend the Bbq shrimp which was very flavorful! Happy hour drinks were an awesome deal! For dessert 4 of us shared the elephant ear which was a deep friend chocolate filled pastry topped with icing. Yummy but super sweet good to share. Overall good tasting food for a great nice.

Out of meatballs, bacon, coke, Dr pepper, cheddar steak sandwich, etc. Roast beef was not hot. fried seafood was pretty good, chargrilled oysters ok. Table not really clean, high chair really dirty, they have a kids play area. yet no kids menu! Our second… and last try.

Enjoyed the atmosphere. Our server, Josh J was good. The BBQ shrimp is yummy. Crawfish is ok, boudin balls were just nasty. Nice well drinks.

The food is really good, expecially crawfish, po boys and oysters. The service is fast and the weiters are really caaring. Overall It was a really nice experience!

I’m leaving this review solely based on the raw oysters:
We found this place on Unilocal,after searching for raw oysters. My boyfriend and I eat oysters once a week. We have our favorite places and we occasionally try to check out new spots w oyster bars. One review said «the oysters were fresh» so we decided to try the Fox Hole out…
We were seated in a restaurant that was pretty much empty. No oyster bar in sight. No music. Wasn’t too cold (a rare find, for me!) so that was nice. That should have been the first sign. The waiter was good. Friendly, fast, etc. We ordered our usual; half a dozen char-​broiled and a dozen and a half raw.
Literally, 4 minutes later, our raw oysters were brought out to us from the back. Being in the service industry, we were both a little skeptical. If you eat oysters regularly, you could look at these and immediately know that they were pre-​shucked and doctored up to look «fresh». We looked at each other and decided to try one each. … Yuck. Neither of us have ever sent back food in our lives, but we knew if we ate those then it would ruin our experience with oysters forever. Or for a while, anyway. We told the waiter and he handled it like a professional. He also seemed like he had heard that a couple times before. Poor guy. We told him don’t worry about the char’d. He took the raw away and we left him $ 10.
While we were walking out, a voice from the kitchen mocked us, super loudly. So damn unprofessional. Wow. Won’t be going back and I’m sure this place won’t be around long.

Meh, didn’t really love or hate this place. Very average restaurant in my opinion. The fish and chips were decent. Fish was flaky and breading was crisp. The hush puppies were tasty and had chunks of corn in them. Others raved about the charbroiled oysters so we had to try them. They were swimming in grease and had too much seasoning to really taste the oyster at all.
The space itself is very dark and a little too large and spread out for the number of diners. We came on a Friday night and there wasn’t too much activity. The service, however, was excellent. Very friendly and attentive and worth an extra half star (food = 2.5 stars).
Overall, if you’re looking for a bar that serves decent food or happen to be in the area, this place will likely do. Wouldn’t make it a destination. You can get far better and fresher seafood in New Orleans.

First time here, service was amazing, food was glorious! The .75 cent charbroiled oysters were the best I have ever had! Will definitely be coming back the next time we are in Slidell.

It’s okay for the price. The service is okay., the seafood is not that great. You have to pay extra for fries with the seafood.

Charbroiled oysters are very good. Nice draft selection and friendly staff. Monday they have oyster specials which are really good and at 75c each for the charbroiled and 50c raw.

Yummy, had raw oyster, gator, fried shrimp, grilled shrimp, boudan, crawfish pie, and frog legs !!

This is a new restaurant… and SO glad they are here. We stopped in on a whim for lunch. First off the restaurant is extremely clean… points already. Oysters were large and fresh, service was great. Happy hour for oysters was from 11 am to 6pm. Great experience.
If you’re in the mood for some great oysters, decently priced beer, and a laid back atmosphere, hit this spot!

I’ve had the opportunity to eat at the Fox Hole several times since they opened. I’ve even ordered food for a catered business event, and all I can say is that they have impressed me every time. Because I love variety & new things, I’m the type of person who usually won’t order the same thing twice on a menu. Surprisingly, I’ve found myself ordering the same things a couple of times, because the food at the Fox Hole is that GOOD. My current favorite appetizer is their Fried Buffalo Shrimp coated in their Parmesan Garlic wing sauce. It’s like a light and crispy fried Shrimp Scampi without the pasta. SO AMAZING! I’ve also tried their pizza, burgers, hoagies, Buffalo wings, Danish Crème Elephant Ear dessert & boiled seafood (shrimp & crawfish). Everything has been amazing and well worth a follow-​up visit. This place is becoming one of my new favorite LOCAL eating spots. (PRO TIP: If you order a shrimp poboy ask for a side container of the Parmesan Garlic wing sauce, then drizzle it all over the fried shrimp on the sandwich. Trust me, you’ll think you died and went to Shrimp Poboy Heaven!)

Amazing food and fantastic service !
Priced well (2.99/lb for boiled crawfish) and seasoned perfectly. Wonderful atmosphere. Definitely a great place to goto!
