Sal’s store is a treasure as is Sal himself. My son has developed an interest in fossils and we were tipped off to Sal’s little museum/store. We have been making regular visits now for a couple years and each time, my son (now 11) is amazed by the collection Sal has accumulated as well as the fossils that are for sale. Sal’s ever gracious time discussing the fossils with my son has been invaluable in driving my son’s interest and fledgling collection.

WOW!!!
In planning your trip here, be sure to give yourself plenty time to browse, shop, and be astonished by RI’s only mineral store. I agree with the other reviewer that the store is really a museum you can buy a little slice of! Impressive selection, love that everything was labeled with details and prices. We were greeted by the owner Sal who is friendly and a wealth of knowledge — he is a real «gem» and so is Apple Valley Minerals.

Looking for a hard to find mineral, fossil or gemstone? It’s probably here. Not your go-to place for traditional gems, Sal has the unique ones for the true mineral collector. Most of his stuff probably belongs in a museum.
