This is one of the ONLY Checkers I know that still exist in NC. I’m sure there are others but its the only one I can think of. I love Checkers as a franchise. This location is always quite sketchy as the employees are never friendly. I never get a hello, how are you, thank you… those terms don’t exist at this location. As far as the food goes, its not bad. I will grade them with 3 Stars as the service is a damper.

Checker’s/Rally’s is one of those places with bad food that tastes really great for no apparent reason. Maybe it’s just the good memories of hitting it after going to clubs in Atlanta during college and the scarcity of them here in NC. So when I saw the sign for this place coming down 95S near Smithfield, I had to stop thru since Mr Freeze has become my burger place of choice in Conway, SC so I wind up bypassing the Rally’s there. They are just a small double drive-thru type place similar to the way Cook-Out is made. It’s typical frozen junky fast food for the most part, but for whatever the reason I love the flavor of their burgers and I really love their fries. The wings are pretty decent for a drive-thru place, the hot dogs with chili are decent, while the onion rings are about the only real miss for me. I had the Bacon Roadhouse burger which was 2 beef patties, bacon, cheddar cheese sauce, fried onion strings, mayo and bbq sauce. It was delicious in the worst way, probably 800 calories in just the burger. The onions were hot and crispy, the burgers were tender and juicy and the bacon was nice and thick. Fries are a real standout here, they are like mashed potatoes in the middle but battered and really crisp on the outside, with seasoning in the batter. The serving size for a large was pretty chinzty, but tasty. Gourmet it’s not. Healthy it’s not. Guilty pleasure on cheat day it most definitely is.

Took my husband here for the first time today. We just happened to see it as we were driving by. I thought they were all closed down to be honest. We ordered their 2/$ 5 Double bacon burgers, a loaded fry, a cheeseburger kids meal for my 2 year old, and a chicken sandwich combo for me. It came to a total of $ 18.86. We tried to order 2 of their cinnamon apple pies but they only had one so we were unable to get them. The fries in my meal were pretty warm and tasted decently good. They had a nice crunch and a soft interior. My chicken sandwich was good as well. No mayo on it like requested and it was tender and moist. Tea I got to drink with it was kinda meh. My husband’s loaded cheese fries were good and get a thumbs up. They were not shy about loading it up with cheese and bacon. His burgers were also good but overall not anything terribly special. My son’s kids meal was pretty large for a 2 year old. Food was warm but not hot and he devoured the fries. Overall, not a bad place and the wait wasn’t that long to get food. Maybe just a few minutes at most. The overall parking lot and what I could see of the interior was clean but a little old looking. The employees were friendly enough for a fast food place. Would probably go to more if it wasn’t all the way into Smithfield(I live out near Clayton).

Long wait for a cold burger with no beef. Very expensive. Wings are microwaved and dipped in hot sauce.

30 minute wait at 1:30 on a Friday. Food was okay but what a wait for fast food. Surprising since no one is ever there usually.
