I always like eating here when in Smithfield. This is a nice place to come especially when the weather is warm and you can sit out on the deck and watch the boats come in. The seafood is excellent and the service has always been superb. They also have a few novelty shops next to the restaurant that are very nice to stroll to after dinner.

I don’t even know where to begin. We made a reservation then the next morning tried to cancel and were told they would not refund the room because we were cancelling less than 48 hours. The reservation was made less than 48 hours. So we ended up driving from Richmond since they weren’t going to refund anything. As I sit here the next morning I am almost comatose from lack of sleep. Had a room right in front by the bridge and cars ran over the expansion joint non stop all night. The heat has a fan that sounds like a jet taking off every 3 minutes. But don’t let me forget to mention dinner last night! Got the salmon with crabmeat. As I was eating it I realized with each bite that it was not even remotely hot. I finally asked the waitress if she could just zap it 30 seconds in the microwave. She said it wasn’t hot because I let it get cold. But she took the plate. After 15 minutes I asked where it was and she said the chef didn’t want to microwave it. 5 minutes later she came back with my original plate microwaved. We finished and left for our room and I am not sure if I will recover from the lack of sleep today but if you are at all interested in sleeping don’t stay here. Just don’t. And if you are hungry go someplace else.

My favorite restaurant when visiting Smithfield on business or with my family. Excellent customer service, a full bar, amazing views, and excellent food. They have something for everyone. A real treat when visiting the waterfront in Smithfield VA.

Well, I think I knew better than to come here the same night that the town of Smithfield holds their Christmas Festival. Made reservations two weeks in advance. Still had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. Not the best of locations for seating either… strike one. Took awhile to get service, yeah, busy. So what, ball one then. Server showed up, took our drink order & food order also. Nope, kitchen can’t do my dinner scallops wrapped in bacon. Even though they are on the appetizer menu… strike two. Dinner comes, cold. Wife’s flounder was cold as well as my scallops. Definitely strike three… you’re out! Better yet, their out. Sent her meal back. No, nothing else, just the check. Bad idea to come here on a busy night. This is normally a good place for seafood. Just not when it’s busy, like tonight. Four out of seven times, this is a good Resturant. I must admit, the Bar area is better along with the menu. You cannot get the regular menu in the bar nor Bar menu in the main dinning room. Okay, but scallops are scallops except here. Same kitchen too. I’ll try this again, maybe in two or three months. Maybe longer…

Didn’t realize that a holiday dinner could ever compare with my own. This Thanksgiving meal was the best I’ve ever had! And that little slice of Smithfield ham convinced me that Smithfield is the only ham I ever want to eat. Add to that the best pecan pie I ever ate! Heavenly!

A very lovely place, very! We stopped and spent at least an hour or so in the restaurant and shoppes at the station. I had a drink and reviewed the menu, but since it was about 3:30, no one seemed interested if we were going to et or not… so…we didn’t …so why am I reviewing reviewing the place… it’s not always about food… I had to ask for a menu. Interestingly, it so happened there was a wedding that night and as we were walking about on the porch we spoke w/the mother of the groom and she invited is into the wedding area to visit/view the absolutely beautiful setup for the evening wedding dinner. It was lovely. Very nice setup! I was told it was being catered from Richmond!?! I spoke w/the caterer, also. Interesting. We visited a number of the other shoppes and one thing that struck me, ta-da…one of the shoppes had my very favorite wine featured. A 2010 French Rhone River red wine. I wish they would have seemed interested in us dining but I think they seemed much more concerned w/getting ready for the evening dinner guests. There are too many places on the other side of the river, to feel as tho I was imposing. We will visit again, we didn’t spend enough time in Smithfield viewing the beautiful Victorian homes. Nice day. Beautiful area… drove up to Surrey and took the ferry to Jamestown. The ferry deserves a review all by itself.

This is a nice solid, small town restuarant. The food is good, simple and unprententious. I chose a pretty simple dish, fried seafood(got scallops but no fish as I thought the menu described) with fies and cole slaw. It was well executed. I at first thought the portion was a little small(I did order a half) — but for some reason I was pleasantly filled without feeling uncomfortable. Everyone’s dishes looked well prepared and laid out. We had a big table but our server got everything right, served it hot and was fun and very interactive. I would come to this place agin if I were in the area. I don’t think I would make a special trip(more than 1 hour); but it is a nice area and a good time.

The customer service is great! Really friendly staff, and took great care in their service. However, the food isn’t for me. I’ve tried several things and the Caesar salad is the only thing that I like!

We were seated fairly promptly for our lunch reservation, then were completely ignored by all service staff for over 10 minutes. They seemed more interested in socializing with one another than in taking care of their customers. When our waitress finally stopped by, she was unapologetic and claimed that she«didn’t see us» despite having made eye contact as we entered the restaurant, and then at least three times after that while she was attending to the table adjacent to ours. We left after such a terrible beginning too our dining experience, and don’t plan on returning.

Stayed here last weekend on the 2nd floor above the restaurant. Our room was very nice and super quiet. The bed linens were good quality and the room was very clean. We had dinner in house and we shared the seafood pasta dish which was delicious. My salad was very fresh and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Before dinner we had the happy hour oysters Rockefeller and though the oysters were small, they were prepared perfectly. Definitely coming back to stay at Smithfield Station. Thinking of a visit this fall to get to know the area better and explore more of the historic sites. If you do stay at the Station, take advantage of the Windsor Castle park across the street to get in your exercise. It offers great walking trails and beautiful views!

The dinner menu is ok. The breakfast buffet several times it’s ok but would like to see different options. Haven’t order any cocktails during dinner.

This is a nice, local restaurant. The owners are always on duty and the place is usually very busy. The food is very good and the service is dedicated. Highly recommend.

Last night, my wife and I dined at the station with some friends. From the outside, the Smithfield Station looks like it would be a fine place to eat… based on our experience, it was anything but. Upon walking into the Smithfield Station, we were immediately hit with a heat wave. It was very hot and muggy out, and the waiting area of the restaurant was no different. While waiting for our table to be prepared, my wife and myself made quick visits to the restroom and both of us found them to be extremely hot and not overly well maintained.(Keep in mind that a chicken entrée costs $ 25 here). Luckily, once we were taken into the dining area, you could actually feel the AC and it was somewhat tolerable. Once we sat down, the views were so-so considering the amazing location of the restaurant(waterfront). I must point out that our waitress was very sweet and attentive. The service was nothing to complain about whatsoever. My wife ordered the Top Sirloin with Shrimp Scampi and I ordered the Jambalaya. When the food arrived, the shrimp in both of our dishes were extremely undercooked. The shrimp were clear and gray. My wife did enjoy her steak, but was underwhelmed with her spoonful of mashed potatoes and unflavored/waxy green beans. My Jambalaya was not particularly flavorful and at one point, I bit into quite a large chicken bone. We did not try dessert, but our friends did and they really looked good. Personally, we will never venture out that far to dine there again.

My husband and I ate here as we were staying at the hotel. The She Crab soup was excellent. My husband had the Delmonico steak which was cooked perfectly. I had the Sweet Potato Encrusted Rockfish. It was very good but the breading and sauce took a little away from the fish. My husband had the cheesecake that was very good and the coffee was excellent. I did notice a quirk. The wait staff did not give the specials unless you ask.

I really like Smithfield Station. My boyfriend and I stay at the hotel and eat dinner(and then breakfast the next morning) at the restaurant once a year. When they’re not so busy — obviously the service is best. Don’t get me wrong, the food is good, but it’s nothing special… More of an atmospheric/scenic experience. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. In the mornings for breakfast they do a hot-buffet which is fun and always yummy. We’ll likely return.

Perfectly ok. We ate in the restaurant. We had a party of 6. Had appetizers, entrees & dessert along with a bottle of wine. Service was very mediocre. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgable but left us waiting on drinks & refills and with finished plates in front of us despite walking by & checking in. When I’m paying $ 20+ a plate I expect more than what I’d consider poor service at an Applebee’s. Food also, just ok for me. Appetizers were really what saved this from being a bad review. Both the Oysters Rockefeller and the crab dip were tasty. I’d come back for appetizers and drinks. I had a $ 22 Prime rib special. Not a bad price(not great but good enough) and my prime rib came out a nice medium rare as ordered with an Au jus. It was all fine. The portion was great and seemed larger than 10 oz. There was not much seasoning to the«crust» & I like horseradish dip as well… I would have asked for some but our server was not to be found. My wife had a seafood platter which was simply prepared but very good. It was priced at $ 28. Dessert was unremarkable. I think that was my problem with the place altogether… It was not inexpensive yet delivered a completely unremarkable experience. I’ll have to try it again sometime, so many people really like it.

Quaint little place on the water. The staff is very friendly, there appears to be several regulars at the bar. It’s quite and peaceful.

How I heard of this place: Our friends were getting married locally, and this was their spot of choice for a comfort-infused, southern style rehearsal dinner. Type of cuisine: «We are renowned for an extensive menu of fresh seafood, Smithfield ham, and ever popular Sunday Breakfast Buffet. Nightly, our talented chefs prepare mouth-watering specials from some of the areas freshest offerings of pork, fish or Smithfield Ham… The Restaurant at Smithfield Station is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner and offers a variety of cuisine. The restaurant places an emphasis on fresh local seafood while combining the flair of legendary Smithfield Ham into many of their dishes.» Ambiance: «Enjoy a quiet romantic dinner by candlelight overlooking the marina and marshes beyond, have dinner on the deck, or reserve our Private Dining Room for a special occasion or business dinner.» What I ordered: After sharing nearly every item on the appetizer menu family-style, we selected our main entrees. Appetizers, a prelude to the fried, southern goodness that is Smithfield Station, included: Station Puppies($ 6.95): hushpuppies stuffed with cheddar, shrimp and chopped jalapeños, served with honey butter, Darden’s Store Pimento Cheese($ 9.95): fresh local pimento cheese from Darden Farm, pimento, cream, a hint of jalapeño, cheddar and jack cheeses served with bread crisps, grapes and celery, Fried Green Beans($ 6.95): spicy breaded green beans served with a chipotle aioli ranch, Boom Boom Shrimp($ 10.95) — a table favorite! — lightly breaded shrimp tossed in a house-signature sweet and spicy sauce, Fried Pickles($ 6.95): slice dill pickles lightly breaded in cornmeal and deep fried, served with ranch dressing for dipping, Pork Puffs($ 5.95): light and fluffy, and coated with seasonings, «pork rinds are known to help with sleep and join pain! So eat away.» Thai Curry Samosa($ 7.95): vegetables with curry spices wrapped in a triangle shaped pastry and fried until golden. Served with soy sauce for dipping. Most everyone at our table elected to dine on the juicy Station Burger($ 12.95 each), eight ounces of juicy Angus beef over genuine Smithfield ham topped with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, genuine Smithfield bacon and jumbo lump crab meat served atop a toasted, home-baked roll. Two of us enjoyed the Five Cheese Mac and Cheese($ 10.95 each), macaroni blended with white cheddar, fontina, Swiss, Parmesan, bleu cheese and crispy bacon, one topped with chicken, the other with grilled shrimp. My husband, ever the can’t-get-what-anyone-else-is-getting orderer immensely enjoyed the bacon-and-mushroom-wrapped-drizzled-in-bleu-cheese-and-cheddar-and-baked sirloin steak with a side of fries. What I loved: The steak was amazing. The mac and cheese creamy and bleu. The appetizers filling enough to have taken the rest of our entrée home for breakfast! Why I loved it: Heavy, weigh-you-down southern-style comfort food for the friends and family of the bride and bride! Cost: Low to average($ 10-$ 16 per late-afternoon entrée)
