Very expensive for what they offer in return! The owner is in love with building an empire with cash piles! As far as the training equipment goes, their punching bags were mostly broken and often short on numbers for people. Not a school you could trust on making payments. Let’s just say they took $ 396 from my account while I told them I won’t be attending anymore a month prior to my leaving. At first you might think it’s an okay school to learn some skills but after a few months you’ll realize it’s just about a bunch of demo(rarely useful in real life scenario) moves. Not a competative environment for those who could actually get somewhere; mostly because your partners may not be challenging to those of you who have an advantage in such things like flexability, strength, energy, pace, and etc. Their equipments are at least four times more expensive and they want you to buy only from them. A full package of sparring gears which is available for about $ 80 online is sold at this school for about $ 320!(SAMEBRAND/SAME ITEMS)…or $ 7.99 nunchucks sold for $ 38

What a great karate school, I have been going to this school, since the early 80’s. This school has great program’s, for children with low self esteem, challenges and special needs. Empire State Karate has been open for over 50 years. Teaching, Adults and children. The Sensei are great teachers and people. It’s just like one big family. Over years, I’ve seen great things out of my fellow students, especially the young students, the ones that put the time and effort into it.

School is in dire straits. I would have previously recommended it, but no more. Prices are through the roof, ownership will nickel and dime you, and equipment is falling apart. Students are leaving in droves, parents are frustrated, instructors are frustrated. No one pays the same price. New«rules and regulations» are created daily to milk more money out of the enrolled families that are left.
