This place is nice if you want to try new beers and spend a lot of money. It can be a fun night if you aren’t scared to wake up with a lighter wallet. You can play darts with your friends or perhaps go to one of the trivia nights. Everyone cheats at trivia night which makes it no fun. Most times, the questions are ridiculous which leads you unable to even guess. Fifth best selling beer in Japan? No one knows that. I’ve been to five or so trivia nights and was disappointed all five. I actually stopped attending trivia, because once we actually managed to win third place… And they gave us paper coasters. Yes, the coasters that are literally garbage. The owner obviously couldn’t afford to give out a free beer. One time, the register crashed so the bartender told us that it was fine and it was on him. We asked if he was sure, but he insisted. Oh yeah, but then since we are regulars, the bartender CHARGED us for the beer when we came in two days later. We has questioned it because he absolutely insisted that it was on the house(yes, ONE beer), but nope. Our entire group of friends has phased out from being regulars at this bar because the service has just been aggravating.

Great selection of beers. I enjoy coming here for trivia night or just to have a few beers with friends. I like it especially because it is further removed from the University campus and has less students attending the bar. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.

I pretty much live here on the weekends, despite the fact that its a 30 minute drive from me. That’s how good it is. It has the most relaxed and friendly atmosphere, coupled with a minimum of 30 – 40 beers on tap at any given time. If beer is not your thing, the mixed drinks are great as well — I recommend the chocolate stout martini, its phenomenal. Drinks are moderately priced. There is also the best bagel store on Long Island two doors down(and Baskin Robbins right next door), so there are late night food options as well… bonus points!

Bartenders will scam you! Pay attention to what they’re charging you for drinks verses what is says on their menu!!! I went there with friends for the first time the other night and paid cash for the first round which the bartender said was $ 15. Second round she said was $ 16 and we handed her a card, then the credit card receipt said only $ 14! After taking a look at the menu our drinks from the first round should have only been $ 13! The beer selection is great but not worth dealing with sketchy practices.

I love this place!!! If you like craft beers this is the place to go. They have dart boards and old school video games to keep you entertained and some jazz music if you’re into that. Sunday’s have been the day I go here most. They’ve got several tvs to watch football games. They also have a FREE waffle station!!! What more can you ask for? If waffles aren’t your thing, they allow you to bring in pizza or bagels from the places within the shopping center. This place has great prices and is an awesome hangout on the weekends and is an underrated place to watch football. Corey the bartender is amazing!

If you love beer, this is your place to be. I am a big craft beer fan, and this place definitely one of the best bars I been to. They have an extensive selections of draft craft beers. I usually don’t know which one to choose, or I just want to drink everything. So, I order the flight of 8. Flight of 8 is a great choice especially if you want to try multiple beers, they also have flight of 4 if 8 is too much. Downside to this place is that this place always very crowded. But overall, it is a great place to take your friends or have your dates there. Highly recommended!

Nice selection of beer in a warm atmosphere. Tonight for the MET playoff game. … $ 4 local beers with free pizza. Scott the bartender was a lot of fun and on top of his game, even though he is a cubbies fan. Vane in on a Groupon, great time!

Nothing bad to say about our favorite craft beer bar. Probably come every other Sunday for football season because they have a lot of the games on plus great craft beer. Always rotating their taps so you will never be bored. Flights are always a great start and now they are serving free waffles every Sunday! The bar tending is great here and the beer is even better.

Amazing selection and new beers are usually added to the menu weekly. 55 beers and ciders on tap, you can’t ask for better, this is by far my go to place for beer except for breweries, but then again that’s a whole different animal. I would definitely continue going to this place, if you’re a beer drinker and want to try a bunch of different beers this is the place to go! As a craft beer lover I promise this to you.

This place is a hidden gem and I don’t believe there is anything like it around the area. 56 beers on tap! All local. 4 stars because there was no food besides corndogs that come out of the freezer and get warmed up. But there is a pizza place right there and they don’t mind if you bring it in which is great! The place also had a musty smell as soon as you walked in, but we got over it quickly.

This place is quite amazing, the bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. Im not even a beer drinker but they have a huge variety of beer so there’s something for everyone. Only downside is they have no food, but they don’t mind if you bring pizza from the next door pizzeria. Sometimes they have live music or trivia nights. Pretty cool place.

Tap and Barrel is an awesome, laid-back joint great for beer. I went with a friend on a Friday after work and it was pretty quiet. The bartender was very welcoming and the ambience felt home-y. As the delicious beers kept flowing, we began to feel more relaxed and more people were entering the bar. They have very few food items and the bar tender advised against them. The best part is that they allow you to bring food from the outside. More beers came, and a lovely regular brought in a slice of pizza and urged me to take a bite. I couldn’t say no. She became my new best friend of that night. More flights of beer and now we are playing darts with some very good looking and friendly strangers. The crowd is very cool, needless to say. And they play The Big Lebowski on a loop at all times. The bartender said that they have an official Big Lebowski night where they play it in surround sound and on a massive screen. I will be there that day!

Does what it says on the tin. Lots of beers to chose from and this makes for a really fun tasting experience. You can chose between a flight of 4, 8 or literally every beer that they have on tap. It was really quiet on a Saturday night when we went(which was great). They have a few neat arcade machines. A buddy and I played TMNT. There are also a few dart boards.

Tap and Barrel is a go-to bar for my group of friends. Although the outside display looks a little strange(doesn’t look like a bar), the inside is great. The copper drafts are a fantastic centerpiece in an overall dark and cozy space. The vintage arcade games and dart boards are almost always occupied. Who doesn’t love arcade games?! If you’re a fan of local craft beer, Tap and Barrel is definitely a must. Although some of their beers aren’t from the area, they have a fantastic range of IPA’s, stouts, and lagers. The bartenders are very friendly and knowledgeable about the beers on tap. Since they tend to get smaller kegs, they’re popular beers run out fairly quickly. The reason why I can’t give Tap and Barrel 5 stars(and most of the reviews note this) is because they DON’T SERVEFOOD! Yes, I know there’s a pizza place and a bagel shop in the shopping center, but why would I want to leave the bar to get food? Personally, they should set up a mobile delivery with the pizza place to not only keep their customers in the bar, but also help a local business(I cant take credit for this idea… I saw it on Bar Rescue!).

Excellent selection of beers! Love this place. This was the first time we went there and our bartender was so nice and seemed like she really knew what she was doing– super friendly and helpful. We actually didn’t come here a couple times because we thought it looked weird from the outside, but I’m really sorry we passed it up so many times… It’s cool inside, dark loft-like, black exposed beam ceiling and a cool copper coated looking bar. They have an amazing selection of taps! I came for dogfish 75 min(looked it up on beermenus) but they were out :(either way, the bartender was very nice and she offered us some excellent suggestions when we asked. Wish they had some good food though, I feel like they could sell some unique and interesting gastropub-esque food because this is totally the place for it if not too expensive. They had corndogs and hot soft pretzels which we tried both and they were delicious. The soft pretzel had a bit too much salt on it for my tastes so maybe I’d ask them to go very lightly on the salt next time. Definitely good munchie food though… ;) Really cool atmosphere… And great beers and great service. Reminded me vaguely of The Cortland for some reason but less hipster haha… No reason not to go tbh! They also have 3 dart setups and what looked like turtles in time… We didn’t play but some other people seemed to be having a good time. This is a neat place and I’m glad I(finally) discovered it. I’d come back here just for their top notch beer selection.

I’m not a huge fan of Long Island bars — I’m not a bro, not looking to sleep with a bro, and under 40, so my bar options are few and far between. I visited Tap & Barrel for the first time tonight and I’m happy to say I’ve finally found a relaxed, douchebag-free environment in which to drink. Hipsters, bearded men, people who wear hoodies and plaid: there is a bar where you are welcome. Women, fear not: nobody is wearing a gallon of perfume or clubwear designed for someone two sizes smaller, and you can actually have a conversation with the dudes here. We got there around 8:30 on a Saturday night. The bar is in a small strip mall that has, weirdly, another bar in it too. A small group out front was smoking pot, and waved as we entered. The place was mostly empty when we got there, but got pretty busy closer to 10. The crowd was mid-30s, racially diverse, and friendly. People smiled at each other and said things I’m not used to hearing in LI bars, things like«excuse me» and«you go ahead; you were here first». Guys talked to women without resorting to cheap pickup lines or arm flexing. It had the sort of casual bar feel I associate with Austin or the Bay Area. I was impressed not only by their extensive beer menu, but also the prices — most beers were under $ 8. They also have very reasonably priced flights(4 beers for $ 9, for example), which I’ll try next time I’m there. There are about 50 beers on tap, and given that the menu is printed daily, I’m guessing there are a lot that rotate in and out. Tonight I saw a really nice mix of local brews and imports, well beyond any other bar I’ve been to in the area. They only have a few ciders, but there are so many beers that you should be able to find something you like. Ambience was relaxed and casual. Beastie Boys were playing as we entered, and early 90s rap was in fairly heavy rotation through the evening. It was quiet enough to hear my friend across the table for most of the evening, but the music got progressively louder as the crowd got bigger. In the end it reached a tipping point and was almost uncomfortably loud. I’m not sure why they kept turning it up; there isn’t really space to dance, so not much need to keep it so loud. Apparently you can vape inside too. The space is not huge, but everything is clean, simply designed, and chill. There are about 8 or 10 tables, with space up front to sit on old kegs and a cable spool table. In the back are a few old school video games and 3 or 4 dartboards. A lot of people were there to play darts — most of the people there when we arrived were throwing darts. There are also a few tables out front. The ladies room is clean and well stocked. I think we were there on a really busy night, based on the other reviews I read. I heard several people ask«why are there so many people here tonight?» so I look forward to a smaller, quieter crowd when I return. And I most certainly will be back!

This is definitely my favorite bar on Long Island by far, there’s so many different elements going for jt. First off, unlike most bars I pretty much always feel comfortable and not tense– the crowd is rarely ever rowdy or douchey, somehow it always manages to be laid back even when it does get crowded(though I wouldn’t say I’ve seen it ever jam packed) on weekends. Personally though I like weekdays here the best. They have 52 beers on tap, which is great because you can always try something new– they even list and describe what each beer tastes like, what known brands it’s similar to, and the ABV etc– and they are generous with samples. They’re not bad priced usually either. $ 7 for a 10% ABV local beer is definitely a good deal when comparing $ 5 for a budweiser at another bar. The setup is cool too, they have random novelties that actually work– old arcade games in the back, darts, and by the bar The Big Lebowski is constantly playing. Every night they have a different theme too– monday is karaōke, another day is speed dating, other nights they have live music, etc. Never encountered a rude staff member either, always a very friendly atmosphere. I also recommend checking out the 24 hour bagel place in the same shopping center when you’re finished, it is a great after treat as far as convenience.

We’ve been here multiple times and love the great selection of beer they have on tap.(52 different ones I believe!) The bartenders are knowledgeable about the beers, quick to offer samples and are overall top notch. Now what stops this from being 5 stars? There is absolutely no food here. Not even complimentary pretzels or crackers at the bar. Nothing! I can only drink so much beer without needing something to munch on in between. Will whole heartedly recommend to neighbors, friends and any other beer lover who will listen to me.

I wish this place were closer to me! Ugh! Honestly, this is a gem stuck in the middle of a plain Long Island shopping center. As most reviewers have stated, this is a beer mecca! There is something for everyone here — even the poor souls who think Budweiser and Shock Top are quality beer brands. There are trivia nights, darts, and classic arcade games, so don’t forget your quarters! If you love craft beer(and the Islanders, especially) this is a spot worth checking out.
