I can’t say enough about Tomo. The staff is super friendly. The owner, Kevin, is there every day. Fresh fish is purchased on a daily basis. Clean and delicious sushi.

Decent sushi. Prices are very reasonable for the portions. Got food to go and used an app to order which was very nice. From CA so sushi freshness and quality can’t compare but not too many sushi places to pick around here so if you are craving it and not the million pizza spots here than its not a bad choice.

I really enjoy this place. It is very authentic and the sushi is both reasonably priced and tastes fantastic. It is a little bit on the small side and can get packed quickly so I would call ahead on a busy night.

Me and my family eat here at least once a week. Great customer service which is sometimes hard to fine at sushi spots. Sushi is always fresh and delicious. I don’t think we ever had to wait more than five minutes to get a table. There’s nothing crazy offered here or anything outside the realm of just your normal sushi. If you’re looking for wild exotic rolls you’re not gonna find them. That being said the sushi is priced just right and consistently delicious this place is a five-star delight! There’s a few other sushi spots in Smithtown my advice is save your money and go here.

We usually go to Aji across the street being they have a full bar and good apps. My son and his girlfriend stopped into Tomo one day to try something different and loved it. So the wife and give it a shot and boy was it good, the place was empty on a Sunday night but no biggie. We were seated quickly and greated quickly. We put our drink orders in and received a complimentary sushi app and ordered our appetizer of rock shrimp and it was so so. Now on to the sushi rolls I don’t remember the names but they were all great and presented beautifully(see pic). We had a great dinner and the wait staff and management checked on us all the time. I think we found our new go to sushi place!

Just had a small birthday party at Tomo in the quiet, authentic, secluded Tatami room. The staff and service was wonderful, courteous and helpful!!! They even suggested special appetizers, and made a dessert platter with an array of treats for all the girls. The Smithtown roll was very good. Everyone loved the miso soup, edamame and the sushi rolls. Thank you for a memorable evening.

The sushi was just meh. Nothing special. I ordered the spicy crab and dragon roll. Rice was fresh, but the flavor was lacking.

The food was ok, the service friendly, the restrooms clean. But both my dining partner and I had stomach issues for a few days after eating here. Can’t blame it on the food for sure, could be a coincidence… just saying.

This is by far one of the best sushi, sashimi I’ve had. The service is always performed with a cordial and warm smile. Most Importantly the quality and freshness of the fish is second to none. The owner Kevin, is the main sushi chef and is there 7 days a week. He was trained in Manhattan sushi restaurants and personally goes to NJ to get the best Sushi quality fish! A true jewel in Smithtown and proof that good things come in small packages.

The setting was really cool! There are two eating areas and the one we used was more private. You should definitely ask to sit in the cool Japanese-designed room. ‘Cucumber-fied’ is the best word to explain their rolls with cucumber. The sushi was mediocre – California roll wasn’t even that great(cucumber culprit again) All in all, not bad but could be better.

If you’re craving a quieter sushi experience, far from the EDM blasting trend in other joints — Tomo is the place to go! There is a small tatami style room in the front of the restaurant, with a traditional feel to it that creates an atmosphere of intimacy and serenity despite looking out onto the busy Main St of Smithtown. I took my sushi to-go today, but will have to return at another date to try some more of their rolls as well as cooked food. Tomo features a really user-friendly online ordering system for takeout or delivery — I’ll have to keep that in mind the next time we’re looking for somewhere to order from at work! Today, I got the: GODZILLAROLL which was pretty damn sweet(thank you eel sauce) and the deep fried exterior gave it a delicious crunch. The FIREISLAND roll was a «meh» mostly because while it was SMOTHERED in tobikos, they didn’t really give it any of that salty popping goodness I’ve come to expect from them. SPICYYELLOWTAIL was also pretty good, but somewhat forgettable, and mostly ordered just so I’d have a full stomach in the end. The nori on my rolls was somewhat chewier than I’ve experienced with other sushi — and it’s not because I drove 30 minutes after getting it; I’ve left other sushi uneaten for hours without the wrapping getting so chewy — maybe they let it get too moist, but I’ll be keeping an eye out for this the next time I order. Perhaps the rolls could have been wrapped a bit tighter I think too, since two of my pieces fell apart pretty quickly. I’m still very happy with the taste of everything I ordered — this is affordable sushi with fresh ingredients and friendly service. One of the best things about Tomo is that they don’t close in between lunch and dinner! Perhaps next time I’ll pick up a bento box or something to get some more material to fine-tune my review. Park around back(look for Napper Tandy’s) or at the bank parking lot.

I’ve been coming here for about 2 years now and never once a disappointment. I make it to tomo at least once a month. By far, the freshest tastiest sushi around. Nice quiet authentic small sushi place. Love them there! The owners are very nice as are the waiters Jimmy and Cindy!

A nice, casual sushi restaurant in Smithtown. Ordered the gyoza which was good. And a few special rolls: dynamite roll, Mexican roll, and the sunset roll. All fresh and very tasty. Would definitely go back when looking for a casual, relaxed sushi restaurant.

I avoided Sushi up until a year or two ago. I was always about seeing my fish in front of me and not wrapped up in seaweed. Luckily when you go YOLO status at a Chinese buffet you can do some trial and error with stuff you’re not accustomed to. I’m not big into presentation but the Smithtown Roll is banging, its about $ 13! The last couple of times I’ve ordered online. Between the time I ordered and when I got there was only 15 minutes and my food was ready. I think its a great place for a Sushi noob like myself. The décor inside is kind of depressing though.

Have been coming here for over 10 yrs. Can’t believe I am just writing about this place now. Try to go as often as I can. This place is great. Its a small place, but the sushi is always great whenever I go. Usually go with the rolls because the sashimi is just too much fish for me. Great selection and friendly staff always. The california crunch the philadelphia the veg. All good. Miso soup is always great. The Tomo cheesecake is amazing. Prices are good.

Sushi I popped into Tomo as I have been generally unsatisfied with the Sushi places of Suffolk County in general and hats off to Tomo for helping me keep the faith. Chinese owned, but unlike the rest of the sushi mills around the north shore, they put out a very Japanese-like sushi experience. Rolls were all top notch and the help was very attentive and, well helpful. They weren’t trying to upsell everything and seemed genuinely happy to see me. Prices are very good and as mentioned, the quality was fine — as was the taste and texture. Definitely worth hitting if in the area– I will go back. Parking on street.

Stop the presses. Hold your horses. This place isn’t much to look at from the outside but behold, the sushi gods work there magic inside. Oh, and prices are reasonable. Went here for the first time with a friend and we were in raw fish heaven. Everything was outstanding from the hot green tea to the better-than-homemade gyoza and softshell crab appetizers and then the pièce de résistance! The main event: Sushi! I ordered the Tuna Hana Roll, which was a spicy tuna roll topped with a thin layer of of tuna and slices of avocado. There is something crunchy inside, almost like finely ground panko perhaps. My friend ordered the Crazy Flying Dragon Roll, which was spicy tuna topped with sizzling eel. There was also that crunchy stuff inside — good textural experience. Both rolls were outstanding. The only thing we noted is that the eel wasn’t sizzling — which was fine because I’m not sure how hot eel would’ve been on top of cold sushi, but we just wanted to see it sizzle. Quiet atmosphere, great for conversations because you don’t have to shout over anyone. Oh – and there is a front area with funny tables. We weren’t sat here but I’d like to be some time. At first we thought it was floor seating then we noticed a recessed floor so your legs would actually dangle below the table. Bizarre yet intriguing. It seemed like you’d get the feeling of sitting on the floor like traditional Japanese style, except not really. We will definitely be regulars here!
