This rating is more of a 3.5 star than a 3 star. I came here for dinner at Insignia through a corporate invite. Place was very fancy like a mix of Italian nightclub and high end steakhouse. Valet parking unless you manage to sneak your own car spot. The people have spoken and everyone agrees, this place is very expensive. If you have a money tree then this is the place for you. If you are an average Joe, wait for an invite or that 1 meal each year where you don’t mind dropping a load of cash. Great idea to be a steak and sushi restaurant but for my own personal choice, I either feel for a great piece of steak or loads of sushi. No way in hell would I come here for sushi paying $ 20 plus per specialty roll. Steak on the other hand was very good. Dry aged goodness and meat so tender it makes your tastebuds have an orgasm. Sides were just ok and nothing special. On the way out it looks like the bar was popping with Cougars. Would I come back here you ask? Sure, if someone else is picking up the tab…

Not what we expected! We have been to Insignia a number of times over the last year. Tonight it seems that everything was a beat off. We were seated immediately but then waited an inordinate amount of time for menu’s. After ordering a bottle of wine we had to wait 15 minutes before being served. We never experienced anything like this before. This was a harbinger of what was to come the rest of the evening. All in all food and service truly lacking. We even had to return the doughnut dessert because it was so greasy and unlike what we have had in the past. Considering the price for 4 people with wine $ 488 before tip, this was just inferior. Service was inattentive at best. Not sure we will return.

Went here for Valentine’s Day and what an amazing fine dining restaurant experience! The whole ambience is amazing and really gives you the five star feel. Everyone is friendly and efficient, from the hostesses to the servers. And the food, albeit pricey, is top tier. The lobster bisque is probably the best bisque I’ve ever had and that’s saying a lot. There were huge chunks of lobster inside. The marinated skirt steak came in a huge, curled up portion and was the most deliciously tender skirt steak I’ve had in a while. The black truffle mac and cheese and garlic mashed potatoes had great texture and taste. Also, there were unexpected perks that really was the icing on top of the cake. Me and the guy I was with decided to split a few items, such as the lobster bisque and the chocolate ice cream, and without us even asking they split up the portions at no extra charge. And one split order of lobster bisque is definitely enough! Also, there is a heated cigar bar which looked pleasant and a cigar menu which I definitely want to check out next time. Overall a great experience and I will definitely be coming back again!

Wow. Words can’t describe the time we had. From the moment we got there they made us feel like we were the center of attention. Our server Joey went above and beyond our expectations. Giuseppe was on point with his wine selection. Rubens also made us feel at home. If you have a special occasion or just want a special place for dinner. This is the place. I highly recommend this place. You won’t be sorry.

My family and I celebrated my grandmothers birthday at Insignia. I must say that the food and service were absolutely fantastic! The waiter was so attentive and made sure our wine glasses were always filled! I also go to have a drink with my sister or a friend from time to time and from the valet Parking to the hostess to the bartenders I have always had such a positive experience! I love this place and can’t wait to get there again!

Ambiance is like a club. Half of the Clientele are dressed like their going out dancing or to a wedding. One hostess looked like she had her prom dress on. Definitely not your fathers steakhouse or the feel of it. Sushi was good. A bit over priced. Kotobucki down the road is better, cheaper and higher Zagat rating. They had one sushi roll for 49 dollars. That’s insane. Wine selection was good. It better be for the library of wines above you. Lobster Bisque was overrated. Have had better in Boston area. Don’t’ believe the hype for $ 18 dollars. Steak was asked to be medium rare. Came out dry and medium. Complained with no real answer. Had to use steak sauce. A steak goer knows if you have to use steak sauce on a steak it means it’s not juicy or tasty enough. Mushroom side was terrible. Wasn’t even edible. Hash browns and artichokes were forgettable. Service was good. Friendly and not too over bearing. Food actually came out too quickly. Steakhouses are usually a 2+ hour experience. Let people digest their appetizers before you get there steak. It also makes sense on why the steak sucked. Not enough time and attention to each order. Will not go back again. Do not recommend to steak lovers. Stick to NYC steak houses. Do not venture out east.

Always top notch food, service, and ambiance. Come here on a date, with clients, or friends and stay at the bar. I like the old school feel after work there. People in suits and dressed nice. I like being in a restaurant like that. Been a repeat customer at all their restaurants for years. Oh and sign up for the reward card. Those points add up quick.

Went for Christmas Eve dinner. Arrived on time for reservation and was promptly seated. Staff was courteous and attentive. This restaurant is pretty expensive as noted on other reviews but portions are large walked away full and with lunch bagged up for the next day. 2 salads and a sushi roll appetizers were very filing. Ribeye specials for 3 all ordered medium and a side of Mac and cheese. One Ribeye came out medium rare. Food was very tasty. Sushi was fresh and all food presentations were good. 3 coffees and a shared desert. Total bill was $ 287 plus tip. Not an every day place but good for special occasions.

I’ve been here several times and have never had a bad meal. All different types of people here: families, young hipster types, Long Island types, fancy people types. Different ages. I think that’s part of why the atmosphere is exciting. Not too old or too young. The steaks are spot on and every side that I’ve tried from the lobster Mac and cheese to the Brussels sprouts are excellent! Last weekend our server, Robin, was so professional and he provided our table of 6 top notch service. The sommelier also recommended wines and saved the bottle as a momento for our guest of honor by searing the glass with a special heated glass cutting tool. It was a nice touch.

After buying a gift certificate for a friend, who went and had a bad experience, it was near impossible to contact a manager to complain. No calls back and an aloof attitude from the staff. In addition when rolling the dice to send an email to the GM, and copying multiple GM’s from sister restaurants, the response I received back, was that the GM thought my friend and I were merely seeking attention with our complaints, and that he would not spend any of his valuable time aggravating himself or his staff with our complaints. Totally worst customer service ever. I regret spending $ 300 on a gift certificate there, and am embarassed to have given it as a gift. I caution you, to think twice before supporting a place where the GM thinks that his time is more valuable then dealing with customer complaints.

I’ve been to Insignia many times over the years and I’ve yet to be disappointed. We started off with the Short Rib flight. Not what I was expecting but very good. Was thinking it would be braised short rib or similar style. But was basically ground into mini burgers. Would probably order those again. For dinner my brother in law went with the large rib eye and I ventured down sushi lane. The steak was amazing. Cooked perfectly and my brother downed the entire steak like a champ. As for the sushi. their specialty rolls are very high priced. One the waiter had mentioned sounded great(stone crab/lobster). I think they need to reconsider their pricing. It was filling. It was delicious. But I think it should be priced $ 25 – 35 which is still high for sushi. $ 50 for one roll is really insane. So while it was good, I most likely will be eating steak on my next visit. This is really my only complaint here.

My experience at Insignia was beyond what my expectations were. I haven’t had an experience like this since I moved to long island 2 years ago. I was impressed with how classy and professional everyone was from valet to our waiter. The service was supreme. As for the food… It was SUPERB!!! My boyfriend and I ordered the short rib mini flights, which were a little taste of heaven. I ordered the porterhouse veal chop and my boyfriend ordered the bone-in NY strip steak that were just amazing. Of course we saved a little room for desserts. We indulged with Dark Chocolate Carmel WOW and Insignia cheesecake in a jar… Both were delicious there was no comparison to each other. Overall I had an wonderful experience. Our waiter Rob was wonderful and also the sommelier and waiters assistant.

First impression was not great as my wife and I waited 14 min to get a menus and water. When you pay NYC prices I expect to have water right away and a menu. Ok but after this issue everything was much better. We had to waiters mike and joe. Mike was amazing. Very vibrant and full of information. He made up for the long wait. Dinner — We had the flank stake cooked medium and the new your strip cooked medium. My wife being a chef requested they don’t cut the flank to allow time to rest. Mike brought the food out and offered to cut it. He actually split our steaks up equally so wife and I could share half of each dish. This was extremely thoughtful as we mentioned this. What a great waiter. Steak quality was excellent. Strip you could cut with a butter knife. Flank I usually have an issue with as many places overcook. They also added some crispy onions what a great combo. Well the chef cooked it perfectly. Both pieces were perfect and worth the money. Sides Black truffle Mac and cheese. First of the Mac and cheese well balanced. Not over powered by cheese or truffle shavings/oil. Very nice and a definite must get. Artichokes– great taste and another must have. Mashed potatoes– I have had better but I would say they are on par. The grand finale Chief special plum cake with ice cream All gone that is all I have to say. Perfect balance. Coffee. I am a coffee snob. This was great coffee. They put it in a French press. That tells you something right away. Very bold with hints of cocoa. Conclusion — you want a NYC steak house experience go here. Very good quality steaks and great food. Lived up to they hype.

They say life is 20% what happens to you and 80% how you react. Insignia has the last part covered for sure! We’re big fans of Blackstone and Rare650, so we had to try the third Scotto restaurant. We came here last night for an exotics car show. It was an absolute madhouse. So incredibly busy and all the servers were overwhelmed. We had an 8:00 reservation and got seated right away by the bar, which is WAY too loud when it’s crowded, more like a club. We waited about 10 minutes and never saw a waiter. Being hangry, I went to the front to complain. I was absolutely livid and ready to just leave, but they immediately whisked us away to another table with an apology. From there, our dinner was absolutely amazing. I can’t remember the names of our servers, but they were so attentive and nice. We watched as a table next to us ordered a bottle of wine and had it poured into a really cool squiggly decanter. The waiter did an entire tableside presentation during which he heated up some type of iron and opened the bottle by breaking the glass cleanly instead of taking the cork out. Very cool. They have a lovely setup with the wine«cellar» above the seating area. Beautiful space and fun presentation/experience overall. Onto the food: STARTERS We had the kobe beef sliders which were awesome. They came with some type of cheese sauce and carmelized onions. I was so hungry when I ate these that I honestly can’t comment too much more on them. I pretty much inhaled them! ENTREES We had the kobe sirloin on special, served with some type of sweet soy sauce on the side along with wasabi and ginger. I HIGHLY recommend ordering the steaks on special when you go to any of the Scotto restaurants. They do not disappoint and are always phenomenal(although pricey! These were $ 130/pp). SIDES We had the hash browns and the black truffle mac and cheese. The sides were really delicious as well. I love the black truffle mac and cheese at Rare and I would venture to say that this was even better, with enough to bring home and munch on for lunch today! DESSERT After our entrée, a manager came over to check on us. I guess he had observed the mishap at the beginning of our service and addressed it by saying he would send by a complimentary dessert platter. WHOA! I expected maybe some berries and whipped cream. Instead, we were presented with a dessert smörgåsbord! Cheesecake, chocolate mousse cake with chocolate ice cream and homemade donuts. I feel like donuts have been a recent addition to many menus and I’m usually disappointed by them. These however were absolutely delicious. The chocolate mousse was my second favorite followed by the cheesecake. In summary, we had a wonderful evening at Insignia that could have turned bad had it not been for their quick attention to service. If we are ever this far East again, we will be back!
