Great place for everyday casual dinner. This place was packed, but the food came up in a speedy manner. Huge plus on the peach tea!

Great place for lunch! We were seated right away and our food was just a few minutes after we ordered. There’s no other sit down restaurant that’s faster. The food was delicious. This is the place to go when you want good food but only have a short break for lunch.

Okay service, decent food. Their barbecue meats were a little bland for my liking. Would probably give it another try.

Good food. I used to eat here at least once or twice a month because it was close to my job and it was good. The brisket was juicy. The ribs were meaty. And I can eat 100 of those little cheesy cornbread muffins. Here’s the thing. I moved away from Atlanta two years ago and when I ventured back, I was a little taken aback by the menu prices. I don’t know when the prices went up, but my bill was about $ 25 for brisket, two sides and an Arnold Palmer. It’s not that expensive, I just wasn’t expecting it. The lunch menu did not have choices that I wanted. I believe it was brisket and chips. I would have preferred a half-sized portion of the brisket and one side as a lunch option. Other than the price, the food was excellent as usual and I will visit again my next time in Atlanta.

I am a NC boy. I have traveled around, and tried all types of BBQ. However, I gave this place two chances, and they SUCK. I will not be going back, and I would not recommend anyone too visit.

Shortly after entering my wife slipped on a very slippery spill spot. This set the tone for the evening. We were seated but received no service for about 15 minutes. I ordered broiled cat fish. The order took way too long to serve. My fish was very under cooked and therefore inedible. So it’s no more Jim«N Nicks for us.

Well!!! Went through drive thru a few weeks back and ordered nachos. Drove home to dive into them and no queso !!! Called and told what happened and they told me to give them my name and they would take care of me next time. Decided to come back tonight and after I ordered the manager came over and gave me the third degree about not keeping a list. I told him I will pull up my bank statement so I could tell him exactly the date I was there. He started to back peddle and offered a few dessert as well. Ah, no thank you. You just accused me of trying to steal nachos! Then the nachos came out with the queso on the side. Odd… Not enough so I ordered an additional side of queso which was never coming so they hostess got it for me. Needless to say I won’t be back nor will I recommend this spot again.(My coworker came last week based off of my recommendation.) When I asked for the bill they weren’t trying to bring it. Then brought one only for the extra queso. Nah, I want the entire bill accusing me of trying to steal some nachos. Really??? Still here waiting on the bill! They wouldn’t bring it but handled it horrible on the front end. The hostess was great!

So I just got to this restaurant and I got lucky and was able to get a table right away. The Hostess was as lovely as can be with her big smile, colorful outfit, and great personality. Our waiter was a little slow with our drinks but all is forgiven because of the outstanding food. On my first visit I ordered the Double Stacker. Let me tell you that brisket and pull pork was outstanding. Wish they would have served a little more of the meat. Now folks by no mean this restaurants pays me to say this or receive anything from them. With that said! Folks YOUMUSTTRYTHEREBURGER!!! I have eaten in many places and I must say there burger was«ONEOFTHEBEST» burgers I have ever had and I know you will say the same. I order the Portobello Burger and I recommend you start out with that one. I order the sauce on the side.

You can not go wrong with the whole chicken on or off the bone… but their service is suspect and borderline rude. However, management seems to be aware of their shortcomings and they’re «Johnny on the spot» ready to defuse any issue. So it’s safe to go here and enjoy that chicken!!!

My first experience with Jim and Nicks was in Charleston South Carolina. I loved it so much I even remember my server’s name.(Brian) I’ve also been to the location up in Forsyth County GA and had a good experience. So when we were going to stop at the one in Smyrna I thought«Sure!» This visit? Not so much. Went in for dinner around 9:00 pm with my husband and another friend. The hostess was very friendly land cheerful, seated us immediately. That’s about where the good time ended. Maybe it’s because they close at 9:30(which to me, is pretty early even for a weeknight) and our server was just annoyed because it was so close to closing time. Anyway, our server approached the table and from his expression alone, both my husband and I knew he was *not in the mood.* Listen, I waited tables and tended bar for twenty years. I get it. It’s late. You’re tired. You were probably on the verge of getting cut to go home and these three yahoos come in wanting some delicious pig. Get someone else to pick up the table or fake it, dude. I’m here to give you my money, and I work hard for my money just like you do. So maybe try to smile just a little. Sweet man said, «Can I bring you anything from the bar?» and I said, «Oh definitely not» which I did not mean for the whole table, I meant for ME. The moment he heard me say no, he whipped around and was about to leave until my husband said, «Excuse me» and got his attention so he’d turn back around. Turns out, hubby DID want something from the bar. It took a long time to get the first beer and again, nothing friendly was anywhere to be found in our exchanges with him. We ordered our food and when it came, someone else dropped it off. No problem-o. Food runners and servers help each other out! I love to see that teamwork! Well, one of my side orders was a mistake. I had ordered mac and cheese and had gotten collards instead. No biggie. It happens. Except that our guy never came around to do the one-minute check back so we had to flag down a different server and ask her to send him over. By the time I got my mac and cheese I was pretty much done with the rest of my meal. Damn if it wasn’t delicious though so I ate every bite of it. As for the food, it was fine. We both got pulled pork and it was good. Not the best pork I’ve ever had, but it was decent and I have no issues with the entrees or the sides. It was just the service that made us feel unwelcome and not valued at all. I’m sure hubby tipped 15% but that is pretty much our minimum. Having both worked in the industry, we typically tip 20% as a rule and then more if we LOVE our server. Unfortunately, this was the minimum tip, which reflected our server’s choice to expend minimum effort. Sorry and I hate to dog ya, Jim & Nick’s in Smyrna, but I gotta say what’s true.

I love this place, but from Joi, not knowing how to split a 62.81 check in half, not giving us our dozen of cheddar biscuits, phone not working, online ordering offline, to opening up my Greek salad to get a taste of Greek to only experience iceberg. Not happy at all. I need answers …

So sorry I am not a fan of commercial bbq. This place smells like the real deal but falls way short. My brisket was what you could call«Mealy». It was a huge disappointment. And the sides didn’t fare much better. My baked beans were soupy and not baked and my bread was dry. My wife had the chicken which was more like dry baked chicken and not bbq. She did like her sides which is why I didn’t give an all out zero.

This place to me is consistent food. I pick Jim and nicks because some of better atmosphere than most bbq shacks around town. The menu is homemade so don’t worry it’s all good. Mac n cheese, sweet potato soufflé, mashed potato, baked beans all pretty good. Now as for the meat yeah I can see the comments of flavorless watery meat but it’s still good and the hot bbq sauce is the. I got the double decker sandwich that came with pork and brisket. Super good! The service by the way was over the top! Yeah pricey but it’s reasonable

Short and sweet review I got the Pulled Pork Sandwich — Tender, smoky and tasty pulled pork. The bread was soft, but firm. It contained all the meat with no problem. Now to the stars, yes STARS! The sides that accompanied the pulled pork were excellent. Both were one of the best I’ve had. Mac N Cheese — Cheesy, tasty, perfectly cooked macaroni. The topper, some slightly burnt cheese chunks. So So GOOD! Slaw — Oh man, If the mac was good, the slaw was even better. The cabbage was fresh, it was still very crunchy. The dressing was money and it wasn’t overly dressed which I really liked. The game changer, Basil. The basil just made this slaw pop. I could eat this all day everyday. Delicious! Service was friendly and very very helpful. It was my first time and she gave me a better option than what I originally ordered which cost me less money. Thank You! Price is on point. A good pulled pork sandwich, but those sides were just super good. It’s very rare when I finish both the sides before I finish my entrée. They’re really that good! 2015 Review #133

Today I left here feeling sad and cheated. The sad part because the food wasn’t nearly as good as I remembered getting at the Hiram location. The cheated part because lunch was $ 26 and it wasn’t even very good. Edward L. and I came here for lunch(against his wishes, but compromise is good, right?). Our server was really nice and my sweet tea never went low. That’s about all the nice stuff I can say. The pulled pork was watery and gross. It had the consistency of slop and there was a pickle tucked below one of the scoops, which made me feel like it had been on someone else’s plate before mine(they usually put the pickles on top of the meat as a finishing touch, not blended into the pile). Cole slaw and fries completed my meal. Both were meh; the slaw was okay and the fries were cold/stale — it was hard to tell which. The cheddar biscuits weren’t anything special. I ate one and Eddie doesn’t like cheese, so when they brought more out we told them we didn’t want them. I think the guy thought he was doing us a favor by dumping them on the table.

I was craving some really good BBQ. I didn’t know of any in the Smyrna area and decided to try this place only because I knew they had BBQ. I went with my very good friend around lunch time. the restaurant wasn’t too busy and we were seated quickly. Our server wasn’t very friendly. I don’t think he even told us his name! He didn’t even crack a smile :( He took a while to get our drink order and walked by us a few times(didn’t know he was our server before). He wasn’t very prompt and not very welcoming but I really didn’t think or care too much about it. I ordered the brisket(chopped, huge mistake) with Mac and cheese, and cole slaw. My friend order the chicken tenders with potato salad and collard greens. He said his mom makes better collard greens(lol) and exchanged it for cole slaw. Aside from the collards, he enjoyed his meal. BOTHOFENTREESWERECOLD! My brisket was so cool. I was super disappointed because I was expecting a really nice smokey flavor and I didn’t get that :’(and the fact that it looked like dog food didn’t help.(Don’t get the brisket chopped up!!!) The sides and cheese biscuits were pretty good but the main purpose of coming here was to get amazing BBQ and I didn’t get that. That’s what I get for coming to a chain restaurant.

The food is pretty good! The service is lacking we practically had to beg for biscuits. When they finally came we already had the check. The chicken nachos were freaking awesome! My pork salad was not worth $ 10 not even close. The mac and cheese is also really really good. For years we’ve been coming here and we will continue to do so from time to time. Our server tonight sucked, it happens I guess.

I never knew that slow cooked pulled pork could taste so good. My question to all the other reviewers on here is why would you want them to shred this beautiful meat up for you?!? The way the serve it is straight from the smoker in its full glory. Wouldn’t want it any other way. I’ll be coming back every time I fly out here.
