Smyrna Recreation Park

I LOVE all of our Parks and Greenways! The grounds are continually being updated and cleaned. This is my favorite park for walking. There are several different options for walking trails from 1 mile to several miles. There is a plethora of wildlife that can be seen, depending upon the time of day that you visit.
There are a variety of other activities available here as well: baseball, basketball, volleyball, football, tennis, children’s playground, etc.

This is a solid softball complex. They do take good care of the fields and they are all good size. I’ve only played in Smyrna a few times, but the competition is always very good.
There are a couple of different ‘rules’ when playing at this facility. I enjoy both of them as a change of pace. The first item is that they use a strike mat. A pitcher must land the ball on the mat to have a strike called. The umpire only has to really judge whether or not the pitch is legal (flat, too high, etc.). There can be some debate about the ball hitting a corner, but this element really takes a lot of complaining out of the game.
Secondly, you play with 11 fielders. You get to run a 5 man infield while keeping four outfielders. That is a lot of fun and really makes your hitters earn their base hits. You rarely get a cheap one in Smyrna.
Overall, I like playing at this facility. The unique rules and care for the fields makes it a good time.
