Well, as everyone has said before, be preapred to wait… and wait some more. The food was okay, at best. I had The Mess and although it was good, it’s not worth the wait, especially when I only have an hour for lunch. We had a ScoutMob deal that we could only use on certain items on the menu which wasn’t great to hear either. I might give it another chance in the future when I do not have to worry about waiting, that’s for sure.

I tried the brisket, ribs, stew, mac and cheese, and fries. The brisket was flavorless and overcooked. The ribs had some flavor, but not much. In both meats, you couldn’t taste the smoke. You could see the smoke ring, but couldn’t taste it. I couldn’t taste evidence of rub on either the brisket or ribs. Their sweet sauce is pretty good. The brunswick stew was really bad. I went with a buddy, both of us had a bite of the stew and didn’t touch it after the initial bite. In the parking lot, there was a car parked right by the door. I assumed the car was a customer who was in a hurry because the car was parked ignoring all parking lot lines, but the car stayed there the whole time we were there and we were longer than anyone else there. I’m hoping that car was not owned by the two employees working there. If yes, that parking job says«We don’t care anymore.» That’s how the food tasted though. As far as the atmosphere, the place is kind of a dive. It’s clean, but they use part of the dining room for storage. The service was okay.

The pulled pork is great. Absolutely the BEST brisket I have ever had. And I’m a barbeque fiend. Tender and flavorful. Good on its own or on a bun with sauce. Great sides too. Everything is very reasonably priced, and you can see them cook it! This is a real homecookin kind of place.

Set out to go to Heirloom BBQ on Saturday night but couldn’t find a parking spot, so we took a gander at Scoutmob and found this place that was fairly close by. Parking was easy but we were a little apprehensive at how the place was all tinted windows. Between the two of us we got pulled pork, beef brisket, corn muffin, two slices of buttery Texas Toast, two sides of mac n cheese, two sides of fries, and two drinks. All for $ 24 bucks(we forgot to actually use the Scoutmob). So there was a lot of food for a good price. The staff was friendly, there was plenty of seating(and a roll of paper towel at every spot!), a TV, and a condiment bar with two different kinds of BBQ sauce you can add to your delicious meat. Everything was really good, I only regret not having a bigger stomach. As we sat there more and more people came in so it looks like people have discovered this great place. By the way, they even have desserts!

This place is AWESOME!!! If you want real BBQ and even better sides, GOHERE!!! The meat falls off the bone!!! And we are talking REAL homemade MacNCheese and Banana Cream Pie. I’m so happy they are in my neighborhood, I now have to add an additional day to my workout schedule in order to go there once a week.

Before you head to STAQs, make sure you have a Snickers because you’re going to be there for a while! My wife and I went for lunch today and placed our order at 1:07pm. We noticed that none of the other 8 – 10 people in the restaurant had any food at their tables, so we figured there would be a wait. I ordered a brisket sandwich on Texas toast with mac n cheese and my wife ordered the smoked wings with fries and a drink. At 1:40 our food was finally ready. My wife tried her wings first and they were flavorless. I tasted them and agreed. They had a VERY light smoked flavor, but not much seasoning at all. Her fries were also bland. Then we both tried the brisket sandwich and it was below average. The meat was dry and didn’t have a lot of flavor. I added lots of sweet bbq sauce to make it edible. The best thing was the Texas toast. It was buttery and good and paired well with the meat. The mac n cheese was average; nothing special. I gave STAQs 2 stars becausethe service was friendly and the restaurant was very clean(especially for a ‘hole-in-the-wall’ bbq joint); otherwise I would have given them a 1. I don’t plan on returning.

I had the rib sandwich with a side of collard greens. The food wasn’t bad, but my satisfaction tends to drop down a notch when I can’t see the smoke from the grill wavering in the sky and when they magically pull ribs outta nowhere(certainly not off the grill). The service was good though. There was an older woman that helped us navigate the menu and decide what to eat. I can always appreciate someone who provides good service and shows appreciation for my business. I rated them an A-OK for now, because I think I need to give em one more try before I form a final opinion.

Hands down, the best ribs I’ve had in the city… maybe ever. And that includes Fat Matt’s. Slow cooked, falling off the bone, with a pinkish hue, the meat doesn’t even need sauce. Will definitely be going back. Looks to be a family run business and kind of a hole in the wall, but those produce the best food. Worth the drive if you’re not close. Sides were decent, but if you’re in the mood for ribs, this is the place to go.

So good! Easy to park, small inside but we were the only ones in there for a late lunch so there was plenty of seating. Clean bathrooms. We only waited for 10 minutes or so to get our food — definitely very fresh. I ordered the rib dinner and my husband got a brisket sandwich on texas toast. He really enjoyed his sandwich and we both thought the ribs were ridiculously tasty. Falling off the bone and deliciously sweet bbq sauce. Since moving to Atlanta I have become somewhat of a fried okra connoisseur and can say that theirs has been my favorite so far! I loved the batter and it was so freshly fried we couldn’t help but finish them in the car on the way home. Mac and cheese was made our preferred way: baked and not slip sliding around in cheese. We were also both impressed by the collard greens. I ordered the wheat bread as my bread which turned out just to be a slice of bread from like… Publix. Next time I would try the corn muffin instead. But overall, I am a fan!

This is a good bbq joint. The place is Dive-y. If you came here for food and not looks then you are in the right place. The service was nice and the lady who took my order was nice. You will have to look around for salt, pepper, hot sauce, bbq sauce, and straws. I ordered the sampler which is 2 ribs, a mini bbq sandwhich, and a smoked wing. The meal comes with two sides which I got the Kickin-Kollard greens and mac-n-cheese. All the meat was tender and delicious. The smoked wing and mac-n-cheese were the best that I have had in a long time. The Kicking Kollard greens was not all that special and the bbq sauce was pretty weak. I may or may not come back because there are two really good bbq places closer to where I stay. If I stayed close then I would go to this place all the time.

I tried this place the other day because of the scout mob deal they have going currently. Like others have pointed out this place is a «hole in the wall» type of place; perhaps was once a Dairy Queen or Hardees. I ordered the BBQ beef brisket with a side of collards and a side of fried okra. The brisket was fantastic but had the texture and consistency of corned beef rather than the type of beef brisket I am used to getting in Texas style barbecue brisket or homemade brisket(like somebody’s mom or grand mom might make). But fantastic none-the-less. The brisket is even better when sandwiched in between the two slices of Texas toast that they give you on a dinner platter(and doused with sauce). The collards were great too but perhaps a bit too salty. The fried okra side was just okay(I have had better elsewhere). The folks who run the place are really kind and polite but perhaps also a little lackadaisical. The woman running the register forget to ask me if I wanted a beverage and I ended up drinking water. I would have loved to have tried(and rated) their iced tea. Perhaps really deserves 3.5 stars but on this visit I will opt for 3.

Get your mind ready… it’s a BBQ joint. There is a possibility they won’t have all the sides you want ready… don’t hold it against them. You didn’t come for sides… you came for Ribs and THEYDOTHESERIGHT! I am a fan of Fatt Matts and Old South. However, STAQ’s BBQ is on a whole different level. This BBQ is GREAT! It’s not the kind that has the great dry rub. This is old school meat fall off bone tender GREATBBQ. For my taste it could of had just a little more seasoning, but I realize this is me. I like a party in my mouth when I eat. It was a Sunday when I went and I used my ScoutMob. I ordered the sampler platter. SOGREAT! It had 2 Rib(2BIGRIBS with the TIps! they were sooo juicy and yummy, once you put the sauce on them, it gets NOBETTER!) the smoked chicken wing, the skin was perfect, but could have been a little more tender. And the little«sammie» which is a mini– pulled pork sandwich. They do this one RIGHT! The pulled/chopped pork is SUPER moist with the crust parts included for those«Great bites» on top of a GRILLED bun. The bun took it up 3 notches. The greens were decent. But I will DEFINITELY be back for the BBQ. It’s what you go out looking for. Things to keep in mind. More than likely you will wait. Even if it’s just you in there… these ladies believe in quality not time lol. This is a non franchise establishment, you are not going for ambiance. This will be my go to spot whenever the BBQ urge hits…

Tried STaQs tonight because there was a Scout Mob deal available and I had never stopped in before. I called in an order at 6:30p. I was told it would be about 25 minutes. I arrived at 7:00p and paid. Several customers were complaining about the wait and then they started informing arriving customers that they were out of ribs, rib tips and chicken. Two customers demanded refunds after waiting an hour and a half. I was patient because of the Scout Mob deal and kept waiting, but seriously … TWOHOURS?!? The food was good, but honestly, no way worth a two hour wait. Oh, and then they ran out of all sides but beans and fries. They have no business putting out deals like Scout Mob … They can’t handle the business!

Update… I was so bummed at Staqs. I still will go back, but will never call in again. We called in brisket and sides. When we went in to pick up our order they had to tell us they ran out??? We called in the order they should have never had this issue with a call in. Apparently bad communication. Its a very tiny place also so no excuse for the experience.

Be sure to come in here with an empty stomach! I stopped by here one Saturday and was a little nervous about my choice at first since the parking lot was empty(they may have just opened, I don’t know). Anyways, I got a half-rack of ribs and it was as much(in my opinion) as a whole rack at most places. The lady behind the counter tried to talk me into getting a whole rack, I’m happy that I didn’t, I probably would have needed a crane to get it all over to my booth. The ribs here are/were the most tender that I have ever eaten ANYWHERE… bar none. I ate most of this meal with my fingers as opposed to holding on to the rib bone and eating it like one normally would; I tried doing that but the meat kept falling off, LOL. They really did a good job on it, their ribs literally melt in your mouth. I also ordered potato salad as one of my sides and it was good also. They have some pretty good red velvet cake here also, which is a personal favorite of mine although if I had to do it all over again now I think I would have just gotten the ribs because of how much food they give you. While I was eating one of the employees came over and gave me a cup of what they said was their special lemonade. It was really good although I saw some commercially made lemonade over at the fountain where she got it from so I don’t know if it was just commercially available lemonade that they happen to like or if it’s their own special brew. They have two types of sauces, regular and hot. The hot variety has some real bite to it in my opinion although the regular sauce didn’t have too much taste to it. In my opinion the ribs could have been seasoned better also although I have to qualify these last few statements by saying that I had a pretty serious case of the flu when I was in there and nothing I ate that week tasted right, so I have a feeling that may have had more to do with it than anything… I’ll be going back here to find out:) I like this place and would recommend it to anyone… the staff are real nice and you get a lot of food for the price you pay.

I love Staq’s! This place has THE best brisket I have ever had. The ribs are wonderful as well. My preferred sauce is the spicy. This a tiny little place and we always take our order to go. My husband and I can eat a pound of this brisket in one night. It is that good! Don’t pass up the keylime cake! Ridiculously delicious! The sweetest women run this place. Stop in and see them!

I swear that this is in an old Waffle House… Mmmmm Waffle House. I digress, I had the Beef Brisket sandwich that was on two pieces of wheat bread and it was very good. The brisket was so wet it was fantastic. There was a very good balance of fat to meat ratio. The restaurant is exactly how another reviewer(Mark S.) said, no atmosphere, you walk up to the counter to order and they just call out when the food is ready. Don’t expect to see a meat smoker like you do at other places but don’t let that scare you away. Give this local place a shot.

I tried Staqs after driving by on my way somewhere else. As a BBQ fanatic, I had to make a U turn and try a new BBQ spot. The restaurant is small, seating about 25 people with no discernible atmosphere. You walk up and order at the counter and they call you when the food is ready. I had the Special of 2 Pulled Pork Shorties on Toasted Mini-Buns and baked beans. The meat is chopped into very small pieces and lightly sauced. It is served on two Krystal-sized buns(think slider sized). I thought the meat was sweet and moist and had a nicely balanced smoked pork flavor. The beans were OK, but nothing to write home about. Given the flavor of the pork, I look forward to returning to try other items.

I swaggered into this refined whole in the wall BBQ joint to give it a try and became a fan. I’m not a fan of ribs however, I gets down with the yard bird ya digg. This was my test drive, so I got the Wings from the special section & STAQs did not disappoint, the meat was very well smoked and seasoned to the point that you don’t really need BBQ sauce but the sauce was pretty good so I used it anyway. The only reason this place isn’t getting 5 stars from me is that I over looked the«Kickin’ Kollards» on the menu. Would’ve got those instead of fries so that’s my fault :) P. S. The Deserts on display looked sinful. might try one on my next visit.
