Not the best sno park. Luckily we got there early(9am) and found a place to park. We had purchased our parking permit online. It became so crowded that people were double-parking and blocking other cars. When it came time to leave, we had a really difficult time getting out since there were so many cars crowded around us. Huge line of cars waiting to get in. It was fine for little kids, as most of the hills are small. The«bathrooms» are really just an outhouse with no sink. Thanks to another reviewer I knew to bring my own toilet paper. I would skip this place & find one with bigger hills and more parking.

Went up there yesterday. The snow was pretty well packed as long as you stayed on the trails. Go too far off and you would find yourself knee deep in the snow. It is a great place to take younger kids as the runs are not super long. My 14 month old totally loved the whole experience. Taking one star off because the parking is terrible. The narrow 2 lane road took us 15 minutes to drive down before we found a parking space. The road is like .1 miles long according to Google maps. Bathrooms we slick inside and no toilet paper.

$ 5 for parking if you enter the state park, sure beats all those expensive resort snow play fees. Small hills for the kids to sled on, although the state park doesn’t list this place for sledding hills it is pretty good fun. The I-80 rest stop on the west bound side of the freeway at Donner Summit has a FREE place to park, and also has larger hills to sled on. Here is a video of the area.

Great place to stop in and play if you have little ones. Bring your own sled and snow toys(we purchased ours from the local CVS) Be ware of stupid drivers! There is limited parking so come early. Might be best to purchase a parking pass online or at Boreal but you can chance it and hope that someone will give you theirs when done. There are signs posted for fines of up to $ 96 without a parking pass –beware!
