In a far away land called Solon, there lives a happy little tree farm. We heard about this place from friends and went to check it out and retrieve some Christmas joy in tree form! After turning off the main road in Solon we drove about 3 miles until the pavement stopped and found Handley’s. We were greeted by a handmade sign followed by a couple colorful train cars that made for some great pictures with the little dudes. The best part of the day was that we got to go hunting for our tree! A few acres of trees with plenty of styles, shapes and sizes were at our disposal and we ultimately found the perfect one. The prices are a little on the high side, ranging between $ 35 – 75 depending on the make and model of the tree. A couple roaming gents unhook your tree for you and for $ 1 they’ll shake and net it for you. Seems like one of those things you’d always do, but apparently $ 1 is more than some people want to spend to get the crap out of the tree that will adorn their living room for a month a year! A local church group was selling cookies, fudge, cider and hot chocolate while we were there and all were worth the few dollars they cost! The small area that housed the pleasantries had a lovely old school cast iron fireplace that warmed a plenty and added to the charm of the place. Get rid of the electricity and it’d feel like we were in a cabin 50 years ago. A great place to grab a tree and get some pictures that we all hope our little guys will appreciate when they’re older! Cash or check only so make sure to bring your friend Hamilton!
