Food is amazing, presented beautifully and always fresh, service sucks don’t sit outside or you’ll be waiting an hour for food I’m no sushi chef but I know it doesn’t take 45 mins to make a roll, I couldn’t get the waitresses attention even if I had a flare gun, would go back for food, take out maybe, will most likely never dine in again

The sushi was delicious, the dessert(fried banana & ice cream) was so good it’s dangerous, and the staff were friendly and lightning fast. Great spot for sushi while on your beach vacation.

Very much enjoyed this restaurant. Brought our own wine and enjoyed ordering a good amount of food. The staff was very friendly and the sushi was so fresh! We had a few different things and all shared them. The fried calamari was yummy, the soft shell crab was cooked to perfection. We enjoyed the décor too. Great place.

Amazing sushi place! It is so modern and very nicely decorated inside. The staff is super helpful and kind. The sushi was so fresh and delicious. Their prices are fair and the quality of the food is outstanding. Please give this place a try. I can’t wait to go back soon! Call ahead because there is limited seating.

What a treat. Visiting friends and we decided to grab a couple bottles of wine and have sushi. It’s BYOB. Started off with the fried tofu. It’s DELICIOUS. The udon veggie soup was so good I’m still craving it. Everyone loved their rolls. Very fresh! I live in philly and this puts a lot of sushi spots in the city to shame. It also has a nice inviting atmosphere. Perfect date night. Halfway through dinner, my friend knocked over her wine while talking. It broke the glass and spilled on the table. Waitress was SONICE about it. We felt bad because we said we’d keep the rolls as it was only a sprinkle of wine. The owner(or someone in the kitchen) told us absolutely not and kindly remade them. Very professional. Glad I stopped and jealous of my friend who lives near the street and goes here often! As a side note I saw 2 poor reviews one saying«they only give you what you order» which is usually how dining out goes. The other said Ginza is way better. I’m shocked as I find there’s no comparison of the two. Surprise gem here.

I’ve been dying to try the sushi here as I’ve heard great things from friends. Went out to celebrate getting a new job last night(9⁄15), and I walked in at 8:15 and asked for a table for 6. The young girl at the counter basically refused to seat us. She said we could squeeze into a four top in the corner because that was all that was available. When I asked how long the wait would be for a 6 top, she said«well we close at 10, and last call for food is at 9:30»… After waiting 20 minutes, we left and walked down the street for sandwiches. She was so rude, and unaccommodating, that despite the fact that the restaurant is in walking distance to my house, I will gladly drive to Ventnor, and eat somewhere that my business is welcomed.

Excellent quality sushi! BYOB so bring your favorite beverages. It is a smaller restaurant so it may not be a good option for large parties of 10 or more. We had 5 rolls and ordered the steak for the young boys — it was HUGE! We all enjoyed a few prices of it and left very happy and full!

Good average sushi. No creativity(presentation is important). Although the waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. You get what you order, and nothing more(with dinner or before). If they want more customers, they have to do something to stand out. Found parking down the street, and restaurants was not very crowded. I like the fact they had a screened in outdoor seating area.

Food was ok/decent, but delivery was awful. They delivered half of our meal to someone else and then didn’t return with that the missing entrée for another hour. One of our guests missed dinner completely. We asked Bay Ave Sushi to remove the cost of that dinner from our bill and they refused. Terrible customer service… definitely not worth the hassle.

Consistently very good Japanese food, especially for the area. I’ve eaten at Bay Ave numerous times and it always delivers. Rolls are fresh, with a wide selection of interesting specialty rolls. Their cooked dishes are also great, the Chicken Yakitori is a definite standout. They also have a nice outside patio, which is the best place to sit in the summer. Make a reservation on weekends in the summer, because it tends to get busy. Its BYO, and if you’re looking for Sake, Circle Liquors right down the street has a decent selection. Highly recommended, especially if you’re craving good Japanese.

Great sushi, good value, lovely staff — wonderful night out while still in our shorts! Took some sushi and Gyoza home, it traveled well. This will be a new haunt for us!

We looked at the reviews before we decided on this place. Wanted something different as most places have seafood but not sushi. There were mixed reviews. This place is expensive. $ 120 for 3 people. But… it was good sushi. Worth the price. Nice that we could bring alcohol.

Smallest rolls I’ve ever seen. Way over-priced for the amount of food. Never going back.

Almost $ 20 and thirty minutes later I must say no thanks and never again. I do not understand the high reviews of this place… Based on the delivery I received, I don’t think I will ever place an order here again. They forgot to include any and all utensils. Secondly, their prices are a bit higher than others, 10.99 for a two roll sushi special? You can go to Vineland and have better food for cheaper. The quality of the food was most disappointing. Everything was bland and mushy. I know the difference between good and bad sushi… this was ill=prepared, the rice was too sticky and fake tasting and the fish itself was less than desirable. There was no texture, and I certainly did not enjoy the fact that my rolls were slightly warmer than room temperature.

My husband and I were excited when we read the reviews for this place– close to the water, BYO, and sushi. It seemed like it would be great. We went here for our anniversary on a Monday evening around 5:30 and were the only people there. I know that a Monday may be a slow night, but not a single person came in to sit down or for take out. The inside seating area was nice, but we asked to sit outside since the weather was nice. There were dirty rags sitting on tables, and staff came out to quickly clean after we were seated. Watching people clean accumulated dust and dirt when you’re about to eat sushi doesn’t set the mood quite in the right way. We both commented that it would have been better if we had gotten the sushi to go and eaten it on our porch. The sushi was fine, but I think next time we are craving sushi we will try elsewhere.

I was surprised by what a good rating this place has. Maybe it’s because I’m spoiled by all the good sushi places in north jersey. but I think even Ginza is WAY better than this place. I had the salmon avocado, spicy tuna, and shrimp tempura. Both the salmon and tuna rolls were tiny tiny tiny! I can’t even express how disappointing these rolls looked. I also ordered the shrimp shumai which you can clearly tell that these were not made fresh at all and are the frozen kind you can buy in the store. Yuck. While the staff were attentive enough, it’s hard to not be when you are the only there during lunch time. They shouldn’t limit their lunch specials ether to certain days. Considering there was no body there on a saturday lunch time. I went to this place because of the good reviews but I won’t be back.

After my first visit last week, I have not stopped craving another taste! Came back again this week with two more visits planned for the next week! Seriously, the BEST sushi restaurant I have been to since Morimoto… And I would even say Bay Ave could be slightly better! Everything is super fresh! The menu offers the basics plus a lot of unique and delicious specialties.

I love sushi, I love BYOs, so this place is fantastic on those accounts. I live a stone’s throw away, and over the summer, my mom and I would often buy a nice bottle of white wine, and head over to Bay Ave Sushi for a low-key sushi dinner. What i love most about this place is that it filled the void Somers Point had. Bay Ave Sushi is owned by the family who used to roll sushi inside the food court at Shoprite, so it makes me really happy to see that they have expanded their business. It’s been a long time coming. As a kid, I grew up going all the way to Fuji in Linwood(which, in my opinion, is literally the most over-rated, sub-par sushi i have ever had… I have eaten better mall sushi…). Bay Ave Sushi has a pretty modern, sleek interior – very different from most other Bay Ave locales. They also have an outdoor patio, which is wonderful for the summertime. I am a huge sushi snob, so I get really ticked when the maki isn’t properly rolled. The sushi here is literally perfectly rolled, just the right size(filling, but not ginormous pieces), and the seafood is as fresh as it gets! I have had the spicy crab roll, the spicy tuna roll(I always get it extra spicy, and they actually make it extra spicy, rather than just giving me a side of spicy mayo), the yellowtail jalapeño roll, and, on my brother’s insistence, we tried the house special lobster roll(the best thing on the menu). All were wonderful. On another occasion, I tried the shrimp teriyaki kitchen entrée. I liked it a lot because it was a.) well portioned, b.) the shrimp was not chewy and overcooked, and c.) they added the extra broccoli I requested at no additional charge. All in all, the food here is wonderful, the service is also great, and the place is very clean, too! I can’t wait to come back and enjoy dinner on the patio once the weather gets a bit warmer.

Tried a couple of their special rolls. They were very delicious with texture and flavor well balanced. When we got there at 8:30 on friday, they were fully packed. Lucky for us a table opened a minute after we stepped in. I was full after having 2 special rolls, 2 masago and 2 ikura. We also had the gyoza appetizer and tuna tartar. Wife had the nabeyaki udon which comes with the 2 shrimp tempura on the side. The place is so busy. Its very clear why their fish is so fresh.
