Bought a sofa, matching wing chair and 2 swivel chairs for our shore house last year. Sales person was very helpful and came out to our house to help with design since we have an unusual configuration and limitations due to door and fire place in the room. Visit was free as long as we met minimum spend which we did. Sales person spent a lot of time with us. We are happy with the layout and love the sofa and wing chair. Best selection of beachy fabrics we have seen anywhere and they have so much on display on the floor to help you visualize the look. When the furniture arrived the sofa and chair looked great but the swivel chairs were very poorly made. The fabric was blotchy and in places looked like it was stained, and not pulled tight. I sent them pictures and you could clearly see what I was talking about. It is a well known brand — I think the fabric itself had a defect. I called the day I got the furniture so there was no question it came like this. They sent my pictures to the manufacturer who agreed there was a quality issue. we had the option to have them come out and repair it or return them for a credit. We did the latter. So the no return policy for custom furniture did not apply when there was a manufacturer’s defect that was immediately identified. Overall was very happy with the store. Would purchase therer again and recommend them, especially if you are looking to decorate a shore home. We love the fabric on our sofa(Emily Aqua). Also the Protection warranty was fairly priced and seemed to provide great coverage so we took that too.

First time visiting with plenty of recommendations. We are furnishing a new house, so had a lot to buy. Newbie on the floor took us through, so took a bit longer than normal. As they were close to closing, manager stepped in to help. We finally have everything written up and are reviewing after 4 hours. Manager indicates a special deal if buying a whole house, close enough since we are buying 4 bedrooms, living room and dining room. So with added mattresses, totals up to just over $ 21k. Manager indicates we get credit towards buying other stuff, total around $ 400. I indicate I am not use to paying list on furniture, she indicates her prices are too competitive. Does this make sense? If I buy one piece or $ 20k, all the prices are the same no matter the volume? What she was really saying is I saw the address on the plans and am assuming you have money, so take my price or leave it. Never seen such arrogance for such a large sale. We decided to leave, by the way, looked up several pieces and they are significantly cheaper online. In fact, could fly to NC, buy furniture, have it shipped and set up and still save $ 2,500 to $ 3,000. Suggestion, never let them know your address until you agree on price as they are extremely conniving and arrogant.

Purchased a sofa and queen sleeper sofa. Had it delivered in November but this is a summer home and no one sat on the sofa until May/June. Within 3 months, the cushions have faded. They are not near a window nor in direct sunlight. The cushions also are sagging. This furniture in my completely renovated condo, look like they are 10 years old. I went in there yesterday and was told they couldn’t do anything and that they were sorry but I had bought them knowing they were as is. ASIS? This was brand new furniture. They have beautiful things but are overpriced as well. I won’t go back. Very disappointed!!!

First time at Platts. Unfriendly staff. Looking at furniture near closing time and closed lights on us. What kind of business does that? Don’t think I would go back. Plenty of other stores around!

Never did a review on this furniture store but after over a decade of being an active customer, it is time to do so. I am surprised at the negative comments here, all my furnishings have been purchased here including custom made pillows, a custom made wardrobe and a custom trunk on order. All lamps have also been bought here and one was color customized. I have found the people that work here to be great including the owner right down to the delivery team. I have also had to pick up a few pieces at the warehouse and found them to be just as helpful and polite. I have never had an issue other than being overwhelmed by the great selection in the store, the choice of fabrics and the willingness to work with the customer. I plan on purchasing additional furniture for another condo in the fall and would not even spend time looking elsewhere.

At first it seemed that the Customer was Always Wrong at Platts! We recently decided to check out Platts as we were in need of futon. Their selection was good but the prices were high. In the interest of supporting a local business we chose to go ahead make our purchase at Platts. One of the sales staff did attempt to help us out, but it soon became clear that our kind of shopping was not typical. Admittedly, we do like to consider all options when it comes to style, design, price, etc. At any rate, after about 10 minutes, we had the distinct impression that we are on the clock and wearing out our welcome. When the futon arrived and we opened the boxes to begin assembly we realized that a large piece was damaged so we called to try to work out the exchange for that piece. Suffice it to say, it became very clear that returns and exchanges are NOT their«bag» at Platts. We were initially told that we’d need to contact the manufacturer — for clarification this is less than 48 hours after we were in the showroom. Several weeks later we received the mattress/cushion cover which turned out to be torn at the zipper. When we brought it back we were told that they would need to send it back to the manufacturer, that it would take up to 4 weeks to replace. The staff finally woke up and — to our mind — begrudgingly made some effort to facilitate the replacement parts. While it’s important to note that they did ultimately make some effort, it was also a bit too little and too late. We have since moved a few states away and hopefully soon looking to purchase a beach home in the area. Even though Platts offers exactly the kind of furniture and décor that we’d be looking for to furnish that home, it’s doubtful that we’d go back. It’s really unfortunate and, to a certain extent, we were hoping that maybe it was just ‘us’ and that, perhaps our experience was an anomaly. A few other Unilocal reviewers, however, seemed to have not too dissimilar experiences.

Put your money down the drain. We puchased a futon cover there and when we recEived it and tried it on our futon it didn’t fit. We returned to platts the next day so exchange for a bigger size. We were told that they do bit accept returns, cancellation or even exchanges. Just like that $ 150 dollars gone. What kind of a coMpany doesn’t even accept exchanges. There was no sense of customer service there. .they already y had our money and from that point they did my care what the issues were with their merchandise. This store is money hungry and getting as much from their customer is their goal. Never returning to this store. Not worth it

Practically my entire life I remember riding past Platt’s with it’s windows full of tropical pastels and beachy wicker, and thinking that one day I’d be decorating a vacation home of my own, and that’s where I’d start. I’m all grown up now, and although it’s about 20 years later that I’d hoped, it finally happened and I got my place. The selection at Platt’s was perfect, although admittedly unrealistically priced. I ordered a sofa bed and ended up paying easily double what it was«worth» because only one manufacturer made only one style in the fabric I wanted. And the fold out bed was the stuff they made Seinfeld episodes out of, so I threw a few more hundred at it to upgrade the frame and mattress. I was concerned that I could not test a sample of the upgraded version, and was sternly reminded, when I asked, that it didn’t really matter if I didn’t like it when it came in because there were no refunds or changes. Previously, I saw a recliner in stock and on sale at Finds in the Villas, but figured I would pay a little more for the convenience of having both pieces come in together from Platts. A little more turned out to be a little more than twice as much, but I was on a roll now. I put the 50% down(both pieces cost around $ 2,500 without delivery), and waited to hear my beautiful custom furniture was in. After about 4 weeks, as promised, I got a call that the sofa bed was in. I asked about the recliner. Just a plain, medium blue recliner, mind you. I was advised that the recliner was manufactured in Canada & since the company didn’t have any other orders pending from Platts, they were waiting until the truck had a reason to come all the way down here. What? I said it was not acceptable and cancel it — I’ll go see if the other one was still at Finds. And I was once again reminded of Platt’s policy of no refunds, changes, etc. What Platt’s ultimately did was order five additional pieces from the company, so they’d send the truck. When, you ask? Another 4 – 8 weeks. I dealt with the manager through this entire thing, and she was unapologetic. Didn’t offer free delivery, a discount, or even so much as a lamp or a pillow for my troubles. I still don’t have my furniture, although Platt’s has my money, and I had to close the shore house up for the season last weekend. With any luck at all, the recliner will have come in by next May, when I open up again. In the meantime, you’d have to be crazy buying furniture there. Go to Finds. It’s not as pretty, but at least they’ll work with you. I’m stuck, because as i have been reminded on numerous occasions, Platt’s does not allow changes, refunds, blah, blah, blah.
