We had heard mixed reviews about the Tavern but decided to take a chance for Mother’s Day brunch. We were very pleasantly surprised. The food was very good, from the delicious stuffed French toast to the perfectly cooked Filet Mignon. Our waitress, as well as the other waitress working our section were attentive, friendly and most importantly got our food orders and drinks correct and served timely. The delicious chocolate covered strawberries that were presented to us mothers as a «gift» were a lovely touch. The only reason we did not give 5 stars is because the portions were on the small side and with a kids plate being $ 7.99 for some scrambled eggs and fruit It was a bit unreasonable that we needed to pay extra for toast to be provided and one of our party had to ask for new mash potatoes as hers were barely room temp. Outside of these minor items, we were very glad to have chosen this venue for our brunch and look forward to trying it again for a dinner or lunch.

Love this place in town. Fairly new, delicious food. Mac and cheese bite appetizers are what sold me! And the dipping sauce! Ugh!

Service was ok at best. The food for the quality and quantity was over priced and not unlike this groups other restaurants. First trip first strike. 2 more chances.

I went for lunch. The service was okay, food was okay, mostly everything was just okay. The restaurant is beautiful, though.

Went on a Sunday evening. Food was great. Service was not as good as should be. Would like a waitress who would notice an empty glass or dinner finished.

I have to say I disagree with al the reviews about terrible service. We were greeted warmly at the door, seated promptly, and had great friendly service. No problems at all. I had the swordfish special. It was good, not gret. But the polenta side and grilled fresh summer vegetables were delicious and I ate all of them. My friend had the salmon and liked it very much. It’s a nice setting, I like what they’ve done with the place. And I will be back as there were so many things of interest on the menu that I want to try.

Love this place. I’ve been here a few times and have never been disappointed. The food is awesome! I’ve gotten the turkey burger which is an absolute delight. Last week I ordered the fish sandwich but asked them to grill not fry the fish. Again it was unbelievably delicious. My new fav restaurant.

Came in on a Sat night. Place was pretty busy. Nice décor. Good atmosphere. Wife and I shared two apps and shared a main course. Wings/Calamari/Hanger Steak. Service was good. Seated promptly. Waitress was attentive. The two stars comes from the food. It was just, well, meh. We opted for the carrot/habanero wings. They were mostly chewy. Not crispy & juicy. Had a few with rubbery skins too. Ech! The sauce was plainly pitiful. Zero flavor other than some zip on the lips. Calimari was also on the rubbery side. The fresh fried jalapeños mixed in was nice, but did not make up for the lack-luster squid rings. Hanger Steak w/Chimichuri sauce and fries. For $ 25, this was a HUGE let down. It was so charbroiled(was served to temp, so that was good) that we mostly tasted charcoal, and the Chimichuri sauce was not very strong to offset the charbroil-taste. With a beer, the meal came to $ 55. Maybe the chef had an off night? Who knows. Would I be willing to give it another try? Perhaps, if I’m in the area. If the food would have matched the service and the atmosphere, you guys would be in 4+ stars world.

Heard they were coming out with a new menu. Loved the old one so I’m excited for the new one! Their truffle Mac is AMAZING

It’s a nice place for drinks at the bar; but the handful of times I have also eaten, the food disappointingly underwhelmed me. For the area, the drinks are a bit pricey. Keep in mind, though, the remodel job is beautiful and the décor is a bit more modern. I have always had friendly, even if sometimes slow, service. The menu looks delicious, but honestly, each of the food items I have ordered let me down(and good food is what I want more than anything!) no matter appetizer or entrée. Last week, I tried their fish & chips. Fish and Chips. Simple enough, right? Well, the fries were soggy, the coleslaw tasted like there was soy sauce or something in it, and the fish split away from the batter as soon as I cut into it.

I live close to this restaurant, but had never been there until last night. We had family up, and they were able to accommodate a group of 10 no problem. The waitress was very friendly and attentive, and unlike some of the other reviews stated, we were served bread and salad to start. The food was absolutely delicious. I have a very picky family, and all 10 in the party were in agreement about how great the food was. I ordered the grilled salmon — cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was comfortable, and the décor was beautiful. I will definitely be back again in the very near future!

I’ve been there three times now and have not been overly impressed — although I want to like this place. Basically it’s tavern food but underwhelming. Recently I had the fish tacos for a dinner(I think they are an appetizer) and they were good. I would suggest adding one more(so you get three instead of two), add rice and beans to make it a meal… The garbage burger sounds good but didn’t deliver. It seems like they all are cooked to medium regardless of what you request. The chorizo poutine was tasty and they have a fairly bar selection. Overall, I would go again and hope that the food/menu is evolving. Right now it’s pretty pricey for an average meal.

Food was spot on and we where not disappointed. We had the fish taco’s, Caesar Salad for appetizers, and split the Turkey burger for a main course. My wife enjoyed her chocolate no flour desert. Drinks where good(Pina Colada and Sangria) and a good selection from the bar. Our server was extremely polite & attentive. Some of the other waitress/waiters that we could hear as we where near the kitchen door where a little salty and it didn’t sound very pleasant. I understand it’s an older building but it was 85 degree’s at 7:00 at night in the bar area. Fix the Juke Box! Unless a song was selected(paid for) all we heard was the base of music thumping all night long.

It was great! My wife and I finally gave this place a shot although the Unilocal have been scathing and our kids did not like it. Fortunately, we waited long enough for most of the kinks to be worked out. Firstly, our waiter, Tyler, was exemplary. He new the menu and specials cold and made appropriate recommendations. Kudos to Tyler. Secondly, the place looks great inside. We ate at a high boy table in the bar area. It was quiet enough for intimate conversation., allowing the bartender to help my wife select a wine. She was very pleasant and knowledgeable. The only negative from the visit was the artichoke and spinach dip appetizer was skimpy. I just think the kitchen was not paying attention. Our waiter said the portion was normally more ample. That being said, the dip and house made potato chips were very good. Steaming hot dip filled with well chopped veggies. The chips were out of this world. My wife had the steak salad and she scarfed it down. To be fully transparent, I did not ask for a detailed review from her because my burger was so good I was in a private heaven of my own. I ordered the Breakfast Burger. The toppings included an egg, bacon, American cheese, and sautéed on onions. I asked for the burger to be cooked as rare as the chef was comfortable with and the egg over hard. He executed both parts perfectly. A lot of chefs are not comfortable cooking to the true rare level and I am grateful when I find one. For you other lupine carnivores, you know what I mean. The atmosphere was fun and inviting. The Angry Orchard on tap was very cold, just the way I like it. We will be back, for sure. Ask for Tyler’s section! Or sit at the bar.

When my wife texted me last night that she wanted to try«the Copper House» I checked Yep for reviews and saw they were not very good but we could try it anyway. I don’t believe many reviews and never wright them. The Somers Inn was our«go to» restaurant when we were dating 28 years ago so we gave it a shot. I had the brazed pork shank and she had the Soapstone chicken. there was only one other couple in the whole restaurant part at 6 pm on a Sunday evening. My brazed pork shank was fall off the bone great. It was like being at a pig roast but the big gob of vegetables under it were over cooked so bad you could not identify the mushrooms from the potatoes or the artichokes. My wife’s chicken was so over cooked that it was dry and very bland. Her string beens were very good though. Both dishes were layered deep in satellite dish shaped euro bowls that fit the rustic décor like a bottle of gin at a AA meeting. Our meals came out very quickly and the salads followed very soon after.(I hate it when you don’t get the salad before the meal) I inquired about the bread again near the end of the meal and our very cute waitress informed us that there” um wasn’t any in the warmer” she was very sorry. We will not be going back to this place, we should not have strayed from Basils in Stafford or Carabas in Manchester. Live and learn!

A little tough for me to write a review here. Once upon a time the Somers Inn(previously housed in this building) was among an elite group of go-to restaurants in the area. Graduation parties. mothers day… holidays. Many in the area have very positive memories of time spent here having delicious dinners and family celebrations. Things declined. crowds dwindled. and the Somers inn sat abandoned. The folks who now own the place… have clearly put a lot of money and effort redoing the buildings interior. now with beautiful wood paneled walls… the most beautiful bar in the area… even statues of giraffes(?)…an eclectic motif that seems to want to appeal to not only the Somers inn graying demographics… but the younger hipper crowd as well. this landmark has a lot of heritage going for it. there is infinite potential here… its only been open for like 2 months… the results seem mixed but I’m optimistic things will get better. is this a bar that specializes in pub grub? is it a serious restaurant? Place was quite crowded on a recent Saturday night so folks are trying this new restaurant. We had a lovely table in a back room. nice and quiet away from the bar«noise». I had an old fashioned(made perfectly)…wife had a pinot grigio. My son and I each had a clam chowder appetizer. very tasty… nice and thick but too many potatoes. I really wanted their French onion soup touted in a recent Hartford Courant article. but it was nowhere to be found on the menu. Copper House Tavern offers no bread Or salad along with the meals. that’s disappointing. they provide bread plates but no bread. I had the braised pork shanks… very good… My wife had the salmon and was impressed. my son had the prime rib special. served lukewarm in a puddle of wine flavored sauce. Kitchen is trying very hard. service here needs work. servers appeared to be beginners… with fairly expensive entrees we expect more. servers are friendly but not properly trained. asked if we were ready to order without reading specials. left her drink tray on our table. didn’t clear the table off properly. overall… its a decent start for this spot. everybody wants them to succeed. we love the idea of locally owned restaurant in the area. we will be back in a few months to see how they are progressing.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Food was expensive, and Bad. Service was slow and inexperienced. And as a kicker the«hostess» asked my party if we were done while finishing drinks because they wanted to sit someone else at the table… After paying our $ 120+ dollar bill. Avoid this place at ALLCOSTS! It needs to go out of business yesterday and save all the unsuspecting patrons the trouble of being disappointed and disrespected!

My daughter and I went here around 1 p.m. on a Sunday. We were seated immediately at a perfectly clean table with perfectly clean flatware. The server came to us promptly, took our drink orders, and returned quickly to get our meal orders. My daughter had the chicken with waffles and I had the steak and eggs. Everything was cooked the way we wanted it and was very tasty. The potatoes were excellent. We can’t wait to come back again and my daughter has said this is where she wants to celebrate her birthday.

Food was way under par. Cheese curds were dry and all you taste is corn meal. Filet mignon was dry and tasted bland with no seasoning. Others in my party had a good salad and sandwich. I will not be back.

CHP opened on Monday but last night was their official ribbon cutting ceremony, I think this place will catch fire as I believe the owners have nailed the 25 – 45 year old demographic they are seeking. The tavern style menu is very affordable and if you wish that can be ratcheted up to a very limited number of full dinner entrees. Talking to patrons as they were leaving and I was coming in, they all gave the food a sturdy thumbs up. There are 14 or 15 beers on tap plus bottled beers and ales. Six of the tap beers are from local micro breweries: Powder Hollow Brewery, Thomas Hooker, Scantic River Brewery, Broad Brook Brewing Co. and the like. These local ales will rotate based on whats being brewed at the moment, the other taps will remain house standards. This is a nice venue to meet and greet friends for drinks, beer or a quick bite. The newly remodeled tavern has warmth, charm and will quickly become a local favorite after work watering hole for CT and MA folks living/working in the area.
