This place is a joke. I want to like the place but most of the time when I call to order either they don’t answer, or they tell me the guy who makes the pizzas is not there. Then today I got through and ordered the pizza and went to pick it up and it was never made. That’s the 3rd time that happened to me too. Don’t go here it’s a waste of time. People are rude too. I’m don’t with that place.

Not awesome. Food is quite bad… We ordered the fried artichoke hearts for our appetizer… these were frozen from some place like Sam’s Club. Still cold in the middle. The soupy pasta we ordered was clearly processed from a bag or jar. I made it through about 8 bites and had to give up. It was too oily and terrible to finish and was actually making me sick. I still feel nauseous as I’m writing this, 40 minutes later. We will never be eating here again.

horrible pizza! I go to the UPS store next to this place a few times a week. I should have known this place sucked as I never see anyone in there. but the wife called me when I was in the UPS store and asked me to pick up a pizza for dinner. I thought«how bad could it be?». well, it be bad… under-cooked dough, tasteless ingredients and the guy making the pizza was also the guy that took my dirty money, then went back to touching mine and apparently someone else’s food without washing his hands. I didn’t say anything to him as he looked a little intense… stay away!!!

The food is very excellent, and the décor is amazing. It’s a bit more on the expensive. Don’t expect to eat here for cheap. The servers are all very nice and attentive. You don’t see too many people coming in and out of this place. It’s kind of small and slow.

This is a hidden little gem on the western side of Somerset. Went with my mom and 2 kids, we loved the appetizers of bruschetta and fried kalamare, the yummy pizza and overall ambiance. Ecco Bistro is a very nice eatery so close to home. B.Y.O.B., the service was quite attentive, and ample parking was available. We will definitely be back!

I don’t know why this place has bad reviews… The pizza wasn’t half bad. One slice of pepperoni pizza was $ 2.95. It could’ve had a little more salt.

This rating is for the Food ***** The Buffalo Chicken Pizza is THEBEST I ever had. I’ve been here several times and it’s ALWAYS good. The Service*** The people are Nice and accommodating… but always seem overworked. I went for lunch one day it was a busy Friday actually and they only had one server. I felt bad asking for a refill for my drink. She was great making the most of the situation but I felt bad. The Ambiance. . Decorated nicely… Could be cleaner… The store needs better signage .the place looks closed from the outside. Showcase the sit down restaurant … I would have date night there if it didn’t look so blah from the outside. Buffet looks like its used for storage now. I haven’t seen it up and running when I go in. Overall great food. Call in so you can take out :) If you go let me know what you think…

My book club meets here once a month and we love it! The owner is wonderful! She always greets us and will occasionally bring freebies over for us to try and the food, made by her husband, is awesome! I’m obsessed with the Napa Valley burger and the Arugula salad with goat cheese. Mmm! Their pizza is really good too! I also love their penne vodka and the Madeira Chicken entrée. Definitely stop at the liquor store a few shops over and pick up a bottle or two of wine to bring in with you. Ecco is a little pricey but the food is totally worth it!

My fiancé made me promise that I would never take him there again. The food is less than mediocre, the service is borderline impolite. I remember they had an escargot appetizer as a special, and we tried it, as we both love escargot. The snails tasted like side walk snails. The kind you kill with salt. They had obviously come from a can.

Ordered a Stromboli but my way — they cheerfully accommodated. It took longer to prepare than it should have, but it tasted good. Friendly service.

The slow, minimalist dinner service did not match the fancier, contemporary décor. Our server had no hospitality personality and we had difficulty understanding some of what he was saying. We asked about the sauce with their rack of lamb special and after asking him to repeat that, we still didn’t know what he said. We rolled the dice and ordered the special. We should’ve asked for the sauce on the side or, better yet, no sauce. The lamb was delicious and cooked to order, but most everything on the dinner plate sat in this bloody red, sweet sauce spoiling the dish — a taste and vision I’d like to forget. During the meal, there might have been a couple other tables of diners in the entire bistro, but it was a struggle to get service. Due to our server’s inattentive behavior, we had to ask for more bread with the delicious olive spread, to get more water and to get our bill. The bistro and pizza restaurants have separate entrances and are divided by an interior wall with windows higher up. I imagine the kitchen in the back spans across both sides.

I have been to this place several times. I just keep thinking it is going to get better. The bacon in the BLT salad was rubber, obviously microwaved. The pasta tonight I swear was left overs. We were one of the first tables in the place so you would expect the pasta would be fresh with the pesto sauce. Not one piece of pasta was whole it was mush and the sauce was terrible. I am done with this place. Oh and the salad bar out front NEVER as salad in it???

2 ½. Went here last night, thanks to a gift certificate and… meh. It’s located in a strip mall. We walked in and were immediately greeted and seated. Our waiter was nice, but didn’t seem to know what was going on.(Or he just didn’t want to be there, maybe both?) Service was so-so. The waiter forgot what table he was suppose to bring the drink to(instead of bringing it to me, brought it to the next table. When they said it wasn’t theirs, he looked around all confused.)
Food was slow to come out, even though the restaurant was not packed at all… maybe 3 other tables seated. Bread was served with olive spread in oil. Yum. Calamari was bland, no flavor. We added salt and pepper at the table which helped. I had the crab cakes which were served with greasy string beans and potato and cheese puffs? That was good. The other dish ordered was a Cuban sandwich served on naan. That was ok too. For dessert, tried the carrot cake. Nothing to write home about, it was store-bought carrot cake with some jam filling. Water glasses were not refilled often. Iced tea took a really long time to come out. Meh meh meh. Food = ok. Service = meh. I don’t think we’ll be making the trip out here just for that again.

My office caters from here for some of our events and the food is pretty good. I decided to go here for lunch to try out some of their other menu options. I decided on their Salmon Burger, which their menu described as «Fresh chopped Salmon burger grilled and topped with dill sauce and cucumber, served with French fries». What I got was a dried out panko encrusted salmon burger with a few shreds of lettuce, one tiny slice of tomato and spicy mayo-based sauce. The fries were standard and tasted pretty good in the spicy sauce. I called just before noon and asked what the soup of the day was but was told they hadn’t made any yet. I’m not sure what time they were thinking of getting around to it since hot soup on a cold winter day would have been great! With so many great options in the area, I don’t think i’ll go back here again.

I had bought a certificate quite a while ago, but had never seen the restaurant, which is off the beaten track for me. But I finally decided to use it and went with my daughter and nephew last night. I was happily surprised to find a large, airy space, with banquettes surrounding a center grouping of tables, with contemporary décor and good lighting. And the banquettes, which I can rarely sit at because I’m short, were really comfy. We were attended to immediately, bottle of wine taken for uncorking, and glasses provided. The menu isn’t huge, but incorporates enough of a selection to keep everyone content; unless you chose the steak, which my daughter did. They were out of it — strange for a Saturday evening at just slightly past prime dinner hour. Very good bread was accompanied by what looked like a black olive spread, but didn’t taste like olives. I hate olives, but this didn’t taste of anything. I asked for butter instead. All the entrees, including the pasta dishes, are served with a dinner salad, vegetables, and either the starch of the day or pasta, depending on the entrée. I ordered the chicken in a Madeira mushroom sauce with asparagus, but asked for the sauce on the side. The sauce was full of fresh mushrooms, but I was glad I ordered it separately; it was tasty, but way too salty. My chicken came with fresh haricots verts and roasted potatoes and onions that were spectacular. I was really surprised that I was served with the vegetable side — if it were a diner, I would have been told that the asparagus on the chicken was the vegetable. And the asparagus were perfectly crisp-tender and pencil thin, the way I love them. The green beans were seasoned with a lot of pepper. The dinner salad was a fresh spring mix, with cucumber, carrots, and chopped tomatoes. The younger members of the party shared a Chicken Marsala and Chicken Parmigiana, and each came with the string beans and a huge portion of pasta, in addition to the salad. Other reviewers have commented about the prices, but since it’s rare these days to get salad AND vegetable and starch along with the main course, I think it was a very good value at $ 15 per entrée. The specials, though, were priced considerably higher, but we didn’t go there. And, of course, being able to bring your own wine is a money-saver, too.(That, and not having to pump your own gas are the two — and only two — things that New Jersey has to offer over my main home state!) Service was mostly excellent, and with great food and a delightful ambience, we will certainly return. I think this place is a gem!

We’ve eaten here twice. The first time, was a hit or miss. The tilapia was good, but the short ribs were awful. They were out of most desserts(which was a little odd, given that it was friday evening — about 8:00 — and the place was empty. Very pretty décor, but the wait staff is a little clueless. The owners/manageres do seem to be using one of the dining room tables as their office, which really threw us off(why not not use a table in the pizzaria as very few people seem to sit there for dinner?). The owners were really nice, so we decided to go back a second time. The second time was terrible. The fried calamari was disappointing. We both ordered tilapia as we knew that was safe. Once again, no decent desserts. We ordered double espresso, and when we got the bill, we were charged $ 7 each! The waitress literally charged us for two singles each($ 3.50 for a single). The most we’ve ever paid for a double expresso was at the Ritz Carton, and that was $ 8. Most family restaurants in NJ do not charge more than $ 5. So that was the end for us. People who give this place more than 3 stars(I would have given it 2.5 starts if I had been able to, as the tilapia was not terrible), clearly are not used to finer places(the area is not really that great, so that probably explains the excellent reviews).

First visit tonight and was prepared to be disappointed. But guess what, this place is pretty good. Décor is done well, especially the lighting. Service OK. Entrees impressed. We split a caprese salad to start — decent mozz but a bit too cold — right out of the frig. Side salads were OK. I had the pork chop with gorgonzola sauce which was killer. My wife had the rack of lamb — very nice. Sides were OK. Cheap enough at $ 50 before tax and tip. We will be back again. Background music is light pop, not very loud. The place was half full on a slow Tuesday night, so it seems that people in the area found this place quickly.
