The real deal. I live in Vegas now, so I missed this amazing food from my childhood growing up in Somerset, MA. Luckily, some friends just visited Vegas and brought me 2 boxes of the pork pies! Woo Hoo, indeed!

I am shocked by the lack of reviews for this establishment. Despite it’s 100 year history, it remains one of SE Massachusetts best kept secrets, one of those unigue, local places so despised by corporate franchises. Hartley’s pork pies are simply delicious. Top them with ketchup and you will be in foodie heaven. The store is strictly take-out. Walk in and there is a walled, waiting area large enough for about 3 – 5 people. A glass case displays various local memorabilia and acts as a barrier to viewing the bakery itself, creating a sense of mystery and wonder, all of which add to the Hartley’s mystique. Pies are made fresh daily, and when they are gone you are out of luck. Hours are limited. Call ahead to avoid disappointment. The pies tolerate freezing and are great to have on hand for those times when your pantry runs thin. When is SE Mass, Hartley’s is definitely a «Mac’s place to be».

Amazing pies that taste from another era. If you have been doing something well for so many years why change? Go for the pork pie it’s by far the best one.
