I remember when this was Pizza Hut! ha ha! This is way better. I have ordered many different things from the menu. While much of it is similar(how many ways can one prepare meat and tortillas!?) it is all very good. I don’t think I have ever had anything bad here. We try to talk our kids into going here all the time! Service is fast and servers are very nice. Margaritas are great. We tear through two baskets of chips every time we go. Have never tried take out here… but probably should. Chicken nachos are my favorite.

Pretty solid Mexican food for the East Coast. Good service, good food with right sized portions. They have beers of the month for $ 3.50, today it was Pacifico, which is a preferred Mexican beer of mine. I went with the Fajitas Texanas, which were delicious, chicken, steak and shrimp for $ 15. Salsa was standard, when I asked for something spicier they gave a bottle of store bought salsa. If I’m in town again I will definitely stop by again.

I’m gonna be 100% honest here. I friggin LOVE Rey Azteca! I had dined at the location in Johnstown many years before the Somerset location opened and I loved it, so needless to say I was pumped when we got our very own Rey Azteca in my hometown a few years ago. The staff here are the nicest people you will ever meet. Your beverages, baskets of chips, and carafes of salsa will never go empty. In addition to the service being pleasant, it’s fast as all get-out. They have a great lunch menu that includes several combo options and smaller portions of their fantastic dinners at extremely reasonable prices. I love the Camarones Mexicanos — tender, grilled shrimp topped with queso, served with a side of rice, lettuce, and guac. It also comes with tortillas to bundle everything up in, but I usually skip that and just inhale it in all it’s cheesy goodness. Their quesadillas are muy fabuloso… and HUGE. For the couple of bucks you’ll pay, you’ll end up with practically two meals. Their guacamole is excellent too. Honestly, I can’t say anything bad about this place. I even picked this place for my birthday lunch with my parents because I love it so much. I was disappointed when the Irwin location closed, because that was the closest one to where I live in Pittsburgh, but it’s seriously worth the drive to Somerset to eat at this place.

This is a place in Somerset I just don’t get around to as much as I should. Based on all of my combined experiences here, and the most recent of which was just last evening, they offer a good representation of American Tex-Mex. Exactly what I would expect to find Stateside offered to Americans by Latin American influence. The portions are deceptive. They look small when first presented but as one digs deeper into the plate the amount of food that is portioned is more than meets the eye. The prices are reasonable for what they offer, and I will definitely go back.

We found Rey Aztec on Unilocal. The reviews sounded good. This is about ½ way between my two daughters colleges. My daughters and I ate here 10⁄2015. Dinner was really good. The décor is a bit kitchy and that gave the place a welcoming vibe. Service was wonderful and we had a time. We met there again 2⁄2016. And again dinner was really good. It wasn’t crowded and we hung out quite a while after dinner and the staff was always friendly even if we lingered much too long. The flavor of the margarita was spot on. The only part not 5 star was that the margarita was very weak, and too much ice. The 20oz glass was probably 10oz at most. Maybe a Mike’s next time. But we will be back. Food is great!

My family and I had an amazing dinner here when we had to spend the night in Somerset during our road trip. The Décor The restaurant is nice. It is certainly not fancy, but that’s ok. It was clean, and the decorations were very nice, not over the top corny, but gave a nice feel of mexico. The Service Our server was very friendly, knowledgeable, and fast. He answered our questions, recommended things, brought our drinks quickly, brought the food quickly, and got all of our orders correct. What more do you need? The Food I loved my Enchiladas Suizas. The salsa verde was tangy and tasty, and the cheese sauce was not overpowering. The chicken was tender and juicy. My wife got fish tacos, which she thoroughly enjoyed. My parents both got combo plates, and we got a quesadilla to share as an appetizer. Everything was hot, delicious, cooked perfectly, and authentic. We will definitely be back the next time we stay in Somerset.

My wife and I were traveling and stopped here after reading some of the favorable reviews. We were most disappointed as the food and margaritas were at best fair. The carne asada consisted of a couple thin slices of dried up roast beef. The plate did not look very appetizing. The margs were on the sweeter side and geared to those who prefer a whimpy cocktail. This place is definitely not even close to being compared to authentic Mexican. It no doubt is the only game in town. Larry — Northwest Ohio

We come through Somerset annually and never seem to have a place to stop for a decent meal. Finally, we have one! Very solid Mexican food in the middle of nowhere. Recommend the enchilada with green sauce in particular. Beef taco also good. Restaurant is clean. And staff super friendly and welcoming. Will be back when we drive through next year!

If you enjoy Authentic Mexican food, then you have to go to Rey Azteca. My husband and I agreed that the food was fantastic, the best Mexican we’ve ever had. The staff was friendly and accommodating. A great value for the money, too. Awesome find! Wish we lived closer.

Very good Mexican food. Good prices and service. The pork carnitas were truly good. PS the fajitas give off a heavenly aroma. This is certainly one of the best places in Somerset. A solid 4 stars.

I took a break from a turnpike trip and came here for lunch, guided by Unilocal reviews. I was not disappointed! I’d never had Mole Poblano(chicken in mole sauce) before. It came with guacamole and a salad, as well as rice. Delicious! I’m always happy to have real brewed ice tea. I succumbed to temptation and ordered flan for dessert. This was a very good experience overall. Service was courteous and prompt. Ambience is casual and pleasant. And very reasonable prices.

We were hungry and decided to take the next exit. Road trip rule with us is no fast-food or commercial chain restaurants. A few turns and we spotted a few places and my teen had a hankering for Mexican so ended up at Rey Azteca. We arrived right before dinner rush so we were seated immediately. Lots to look at(fun eye-spy for the little ones). What I noticed immediately was that a large selection of Jarritos(Mexican sodas with unusual and fun flavors like tamarind and mango and lime). Menu is large — combination dinners, burritos, specials, fajitas and steak and pork dishes. I had the burritos verde — nice kick ask for sour cream just in case its too much heat. My husband had the burrito supreme which he really enjoyed and the teen ordered one of the combination dinners that came with a taco. He gave it a two thumbs up. We also ordered a side of guacamole — chips and salsa where brought quickly after we sat down. The salsa is step up from tomato sauce but there was plenty of hot sauce etc… to add as needed. Service was efficient and the waiter friendly. As the dinner hour progressed the phone rang regularly for take out orders. Several people walked in and placed orders to go. The dining room was filling up as we left. A popular spot for sure. This was a gem of a find and if we are out this way again we will be going back.

This place is awesome! The dessert was awesome as well! I loved my meal(Pollos Adobe). It was so good that I’ll have to learn how to make it since I’m from out of town and may not be able to try it again here. Try this place… You won’t regret it.

A very warm and welcoming atmosphere greeted me when I first walked into the restaurant. Even the kitchen staff was friendly and welcoming. The food was incredibly good and reminded me of what authentic Mexican food should taste like. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves real authentic Mexican cuisines.

Great Mexican fare and good drinks! The fajita salad is a sure bet. The soft tacos are great. They also take special requests such as chorizo tacos which are not on the menu. Portions are huge and the price is good as well!

I went there twice and went pretty basic both times. You know… quesadilla, burrito, taco, etc. To sum this place up in one sentence: Good food, great people, and good atmosphere. There really isn’t anything negative that can be said. The food is consistent, but isn’t quite deserving of a fifth star. The service is outstanding and very personable. The atmosphere is fun and inviting every time. If I were a regular to Somerset, I would most certainly be a regular.
