I passed through Somerset a couple of years ago and wasn’t able to check out Summit Diner. I visited again yesterday and was happy to be able to go to this morning for breakfast. Boy, does this place live up to the hype. Very cool 60’s diner vibe inside. My server was fabulous and made it a very pleasant experience. I ordered the western skillet and it was delicious. I hope I pass through again soon to dine here again! Thanks, Summit Diner!

We had dinner this past Thursday and breakfast Friday morning at this 60’s style diner. Great place to talk about Libtards, an Insane geriatric Socialist named Bernie and crooked KILL-LIARy. Go Trump!

Found this place passing through town and my Lordy. Love the turkey sandwich and the roast beef sandwich. The chicken pasta salad was very good too. And the dessert. Good god the coconut create pie is amazing. Don’t pass it up.

Excellent«diner» food. Had breakfast at 3:00 pm. Great coffee, great eggs, great home fries, just great. And fast, very friendly service. On long trip home planning to go to Cracker Barrel which was too crowded. We are so glad they were, because we found this diner that will be a permanent stop on this trip from now on. Right off Somerset exit if PA turnpike.

I had the Roast beef and my wife had the Turkey sandwich. They were both very good. The service was good and the food came out quick. It’s a cool diner worth checking out. I was disappointed in the dessert. I had the Gob cake and it was dry. I brought it home. I should be able to save it with some ice cream. They refused to sell me a whole pie. They looked awesome and I wanted to take one home. It says on the menu that they are take out only but I guess that also means you have to pre-order it. Over all it’s very good. Go here instead of one of the many chains that surround it.

Holy crap. If you want to have to listen to people blindly discuss right wing politics come here. Food was ok, not great. If you’re on a budget and can stomach a bunch of right wing bullshit then definitely hit this place up!

This place is exactly what a diner should be; quick, filling, and satisfying. I showed up at the tail end of the lunch rush and even though it was extremely busy I was taken care of rather quickly and pleasantly. When I pulled into the parking lot it was packed making me think that service inside was going to be a while, I was wrong. I walked in, sat at the counter and was immediately greeted, asked what I wanted to drink and had a menu in hand. When my drink arrived I was asked fairly quickly what I would like to order. I decided to go with the meatloaf which comes with two sides. I opted for the traditional mashed potatoes and a nice starter side salad. The salad arrived almost immediately. Mostly iceberg lettuce, a slice of cucumber, tomato and some onions, nothing spectacular, but it is just a side salad. While I was noshing on this my main dish came out, while it sat there looking good, I kept going at the side salad. While I was greedily eating the waitress passed by several times, on one of those passings she asked me how the meatloaf was. I had to tell I hadn’t tried it yet since I was still eating my salad. We both laughed and she asked how my salad was, that should tell you how quickly this place runs. When I finally did get a chance to dig into the meatloaf it was great. A little dry, but that is what the gravy was for. The seasoning was spot on, but what I was really taken with was the potatoes. I don’t think that these potatoes where mashed at all, in fact I believe that they were whipped to the point that they could have floated away. So light and tasty I almost wanted to lick the spot on the plate where they once sat after I finished them. When I did finish my main dish my check appeared almost immediately. However I wasn’t ready to pay just yet. I had my eye on the gob cake they had in their cooler display. What the rest of the world calls whoopie pies, those of us from this area of the state call them gobs, whatever you decide to call them it does not matter, all that matters is that they are delicious. Between those two thick layers of cakey goodness is an even better layer of icing. Not too sweet, but when mixed with that cake, perfection. After I finished, then the check arrived and I was ready for it this time. Didn’t hurt the pocketbook at all which is why I love diners. That and all the chrome. Oh, one last thing, check out the bathrooms, all black and chrome and your are greeted by icons of an era gone by.

We stopped by this place on our cross country road trip! I don’t know how the 60s would have looked and felt like except for seeing in movies but I guess this place comes in pretty darn close. Warm friendly staff. Food cooked family style. They even have a menu which proudly says they opened up in 1960 July 11. We ordered the soup of the day(stuffed pepper), western skillet and smashed potato! Very tasty food and believe it or not a sumptuous meal of two costed under 15 $!

Awesome food. Stopped here on our way from DC to CLE and it was quick, good food I got the burnt sugar pie to go for the rest of the drive — great decision. Family owned which is a perk for me

Not too familiar with this area, but found this restaurant/diner to fit our need for a quick bite. I had the roast beef sandwich with gravy and fries. Portions were ample and good. Very reasonable prices. If you like diner food, may be give this place a try. The building is old and has the old counter and stools along with some booths. There looked to be an attached dining room, but the employees said that section wasn’t open. The place could use some TLC. 4 stars for the food and service, but building is showing its age.

This was the quintessential diner experience: it’s adorable, everyone is super friendly, and the food is hot and cheap. We understand that the Scrapyard is their #1 menu item, so we ordered that. We had to ask what«scrapple» was — and after eating it I’m still not sure. We also had the mushroom swiss burger, and got a short stack of pancakes for our toddler. Our meals were fine; but not spectacular. The standout item was definitely the pancakes; and we were so glad our little one kept sharing! It was a perfectly-cooked, not too sweet pancake; and they told us the batter was made to order. It was served with real maple syrup. Yum! We couldn’t help but order a slice of the gorgeous looking lemon meringue, which did not disappoint. We would have ordered a full pie if they had enough to give us. We chatted with the staff throughout our meal and afterward, and had such a fun time that we got a mug and t-shirt. It was the perfect waypoint on our road trip; and we’d definitely go back. A downside to being a small diner is that they have a tiny bathroom with no baby changing station. Since they’re right off the turnpike, I’m sure that’s been a problem for more than just me; but they graciously offered me a quiet booth in the back to change my newborn in.

If you ever travel through this area, a meal at this diner is a must. Great variety of tasty food choices with a friendly staff. Gob cake is a great desert to try. The only negative thing I have to say about this diner is that they are a bit stingy with the amount of gravy they put on .you dinner selection. The gravy was very good, but I would recommend that you order extra gravy.

Looks like a dive from the outside, but sweet, vintage and clean on the inside. Service was personable and expert. We all loved the recommendations our waitress made: hot turkey sandwich, hot roast beef sandwich, and the reuben(«best I’ve ever had»). Lemon merengue and coconut cream pie were undeniable. One suggested improvement: the restrooms.

Classic PA diner with everything you’d expect — slabs of stainless covering the outside; friendly waitresses, a jukebox, and a case full of mile-high pies inside. Breakfast, burgers, meatloaf, and milkshakes on the menu. I went with a Good Morning burger, topped with bacon and an over-easy egg. You can get just the burger for less than $ 5, or around $ 8 with fries and coleslaw on the side. Greatest burger ever? No, but for the price, it was pretty darn good. The fries are fresh-cut as well, which is a plus. Service was friendly, though the place wasn’t very busy on the Wednesday evening we were there. Definitely a locals/regulars type of hangout for sure. Four of us ate for around $ 40 + tip, which is hard to beat. Worth a try if you’re in the area.

The food was your typically diner food, burgers, chips etc. the breakfast skillet was amazing. The staff were friendly & the prices were super reasonable. Would eat here every day if I could, but was just passing through so that’s not possible.

We weren’t disappointed when we stopped here. We’re trying to show our children that there is more to life than McDonald’s. For $ 3.99 we were served 2 eggs, meat choice, home fries and toast. Add a half stack of pancakes or French toast for $ 1.99. True diner experience and great coffee mugs filled regularly by our attentive server.
