Came in numerous times for takeout, usually ordered lengua Tacos but ended up trying their sopes which I loved. Last time I ordered chicken breast sopes for takeout and the chicken was bad, it even smelled funky. I work at a Mexican restaurant and we do not sell sopes and was glad I found this place instead of having to go to Dunellen. Too bad I’ll be making trips to Dunellen once again.

My husband and I were frequent customers here. The food is not amazing but it’s pretty good and easier for us to get to than our favorite places in New Brunswick. Unfortunately, we had a really bad customer service experience and will not be returning. My husband called to order take out and was asked to wait.(I should point out the conversation was in Spanish so there was no language barrier, etc.) The person who answered the phone didn’t put him on hold so he could hear everything that was happening. After about six minutes of listening to her laughing and talking to people, he hung up. When he called back he said, «Are you taking orders? You left me on hold.» She hung up on him. After that, my husband called back and the woman refused to give her name. My husband asked to speak to the manager but he just said they were really busy. He did not seem to understand that we weren’t upset about the wait(although that was annoying because it was pretty clear she was having a personal conversation… but whatevs, maybe she forgot… mistakes happen), we were upset that she hung up after he called back. Manager offered no apology and didn’t seem at all disturbed that the person who answered hung up at the slightest hint of a disgruntled customer instead of just apologizing for the wait or admitting she’d forgotten he was waiting. Anyway, no big loss. We went to La Costenita in Hillsborough instead. If the food were better we might be a little more heartbroken about giving this place up but we’ll get our noms elsewhere. Overall, really disappointing.

So terribly disappointed to be served a plate of bad pork. My family eats here weekly and this was our first bad meal, but so bad it was frightening. Pork that has turned is foul. My plate and my daughters plate were inedible. To add insult to injury paid full price for the uneaten meals. We will not be returning.

went for lunch on bike race weekend in may, very casual, working class place, the food was pretty good, large portions and fresh. bring your own beer to drink with the chips, the salsa was spicy hot good. now the bad, incredibly noisy tv and music, it drowns out conversation! i almost wanted to leave. also somewhat sluggish service consdering there were maybe four other tables occupied.

Nice little authentic Mexican restaurant in downtown Somerville. Friendly staff and between the music and the television, you’d think that you’re actually in Mexico. Nothing really fancy, just a nice casual atmosphere. Food here is very good, generous portions and always fresh, cooked to order. If you like authentic Mexican cuisine, it’s definitely worth checking out.

If your looking for good Mexican food, I would give this place a try. Don’t worry about the shabby look of the place cause there is nothing shabby about the food they prepare for u. Eat in or take out, I have yet to have a bad meal.

It’s Saturday evening, we enter the restaurant… and… It’s empty!!! Surprised, yet we sit down! We were served with tortilla chips! So far so goo! We ordered sopes! Comes out fast but it was bland! It was unbelievably tasteless! We ordered Chicken fajita and enchiladas! And these were good! May not be the best-one-ever-tasted types but still good! We ordered some tres leches cake! Not that good! It was a bit dry! Overall, it’s an okay place! The server was good-attentive and got us our order on time!

I travel to Mexico often and have recently been to South America. The food here is spot on. At first the menu looks confusing but there is an English version written next to the Spanish. The staff is super friendly and very attentive and not in an annoying way. The price is excellent as well. Highly recommended, definitely coming back.

Hands down the best Mexican food in Somerville and the surrounding area. Every time I eat here, I feel like I’m wandering the streets, late night in Mexico, looking for a beautiful piece of Pastor on a spinning stick. The sopes are to die for; I’m a huge fan of the Barbacoa, chorizo and lengua. Don’t fear the tongue. Also, ask for the tamales. The mole one is spot on.

Decided to try this place for lunch… definitely authentic Mexican food. I ordered veggie tacos and they were ok. My co-worker ordered a chicken enchilada and said it was really good. The menu isn’t very reader friendly if you’re not familiar with Spanish and ordering can be a challenge but the server made sure she understood exactly what we wanted. The negative… several other people have mentioned it but the TV’s are a real distraction. I agree that it would be better to just have music playing. Also, there were only 3 other tables and it took the server almost 10 minutes to take our order. I’ll definitely go back to try something else on the menu.

Delicious authentic Mexican food! Emphasis on Authentic. I hate when Restaurants claim to serve Mexican cuisine and turn out its an American version of Mexican cuisine. Ive had the Sopes and they were delicious. I have also had their tacos and enchiladas and they never dissappoint. They are very well priced and you get a lot of food for your money and the local paper usually have coupons for this establishment. The décor is funky but I am not eating the décor and as long as the place is clean I dont mind. I definitely reccomend this restaurant.

This place is authentic good Mexican food. If you’re a noob, get the enchiladas. If you want to live a little get some sopes. May I suggest the lengua. It’s crazy tender. The mole is very good. I’ll be coming back and trying more. The ceviche looked amazing and will be at the top of my list next time. The only downside was the two tvs on with out of sync audio. I can live with that. This isn’t some fancy French place.

Lost in the translation. We had a ponderous experience ordering for take out last night. Now keep in mind I do not stutter, my English is first rate and I’m a very good communicator. No matter what I told the order taker she just couldn’t get it right. At one point I put my wife on the phone who at one point said, let’s start over again from the beginning! Long story short $ 50.50 dinner for two people. It should have been$ 25 – 30 at the most. When my wife went inside to pick up the woman was extremely rude. The Place Was Empty! The food came with no additional sauces and was dry and tasteless. Worst burrito ever. The guacamole was very good. We have a ton of leftovers due to miscommunication. Learn to embrace the community you started your business in. I apologize for not speaking Spanish.

Food gets 3.5 stars but 1 star for atmosphere. Food was pretty authentic Mexican and reminded me of places I visited in Mexico years ago. But by no means is this a place to bring a date. They had 2 large screen TVs playing ultimate fighting in Spanish. We watched 2 men get their faces bashed in and bloodied while we were eating our dinner. They should consider losing the TVs, dimming the lights, and playing some happy Mexican music. I will go back because I liked the food but I could imagine many people will be turned off by this place unless they improve the atmosphere.

If a frozen strawberry margarita or Taco Bell is the basis for your needs in Mexican food, do not enter this 2 month old restaurant in Somerville. Same goes for décor loving/hating, Guy Fierie funky loving places. What you have is Mexican food made by Mexican immigrants with the ingredients and flavors that they grew up with and cook with. Very large menu in Spanish with basic English translation covering breakfast, lunch and dinner. Torta sandwiches are $ 5.00 with side of fries at $ 3.00. Most dinner platters are around $ 12.00 with fresh fish at $ 22.00. We arrived before 7PM on Saturday night with a kids birthday party going on in the back half of the restaurant and Mexican music being played by a deejay. The waitress asked us if we minded the music and offered to have the deejay lower it. Very considerate, but unnecessary. Small bowl of fresh chips with two dipping sauces. A fiery red hot chili sauce, to make you sweat. Also a smoother green chili sauce made with creama, a smoother creamier sour cream. You won’t find scoops of sour cream here. Finally decided on the Pollo Mole’. Pieces of skinless, not boneless chicken in mole’ sauce. Mole’ is a dark brown chocolate based sauce, not a sweet sauce. This sauce was long cooked with a touch of heat that filled your mouth but did not burn a hole in your stomach. Yellow rice flecked with cooked jalapenos added another level of flavor. Refried beans were vegetarian and very smooth. Served with warm flour tacos on the side. Cans of soda, bottled water, Mexican Coke, sodas and juices are available. I will be going back again.
