This place has a really good mixed shawarma(lamb and beef). I ordered it spicy and it did not disappoint. There is hot sauce on the tables if you need to kick it up a notch, which I recommend. Solid sandwich eat it, please.

Super disappointed with my lamb wrap. The meat was dry and tasteless. They screwed up my order and added tomatoes even though I explicitly asked for none.

I ordered the Mixed Shawarma Sandwich and I loved it! The wrap was stacked and the pita bread was pressed like a panini which made it even better. Next time I’ll probably ask for an extra side of the tahini sauce which comes on the side. I also ordered a side of the falafel which comes with 5 pieces. Sometimes falafel can if iffy depending where you order from but I loved it from here because it wasn’t dry like some other places. Definitely will be ordering again.

Always looking for a good falafel sandwich I figured I’d give this place a try. Considering these folks are from the middle east /Mediterranean, I expected good, authentic falafel, but was disappointed. Amsterdam Falafel a few blocks away has much better flavor. My wife liked her chicken shawarma though so the visit wasn’t a total loss.

The best shawarma in Boston .My favorite is the lamb and beef shawarma roll up, the restaurant is clean and quite and they are so friendly.

If you come here, consider going for a plate over a wrap — for only a few bucks more you get a lot more variation(they come with cucumber salad/pickels/hummus/pita), and unless you are ravenous you will probably have enough leftovers for a second meal. I especially recommend the mujadara(lentils and rice) plate and the chicken shawarma plate. It’s a great little staple to have in the neighborhood.

This place has good veggie options! If you have the hunger, go for the cauliflower roll-up. The hunger will thank you and bid you adieu. Bye, hunger. BYE.

This place went from a solid 5 star eatery to a lousy 1 star. Walked in and noticed the layout changed. Instead of watching make the food it is now hidden in the back. I had the chicken shawarma and it was gross. Chicken consisted of the worst parts and rubbery without any flavor. I have nothing against dark parts of chicken but at least mix it up with solid breast pieces, and leave out the fat. I spit out a quarter of the chicken. $ 8 for a roll up is as high, if not higher, than financial district yet their rent is much lower. Another restaurant living off its old reputation and screwing its customers. A real shame. Time to move on.

So, there was this rumor( Unilocal-inspired) that the owner at the shawarma place on the OTHER side of Davis Square was an ex-Ritz Carlton chef from a tragically war-torn capital of the Middle East. I can no longer find those reviews, and I did not believe them to begin with, but they do reflect a deeper truth. That restaurant — Noor — is a rare, precious gem. This is not that restaurant. These guys ran a food cart on the wrong side of town. Still, despite the fact that the décor is dated and the service is slow and the food is smelly and oily and fatty(or because of all that, honestly) it’s pretty delicious, if somewhat heavy and unsubtle. My preschooler won’t get the hummus here, but, what can I say? He’s spent too much time at the Ritz Carlton Yerevan. They have a lot of great veg offerings, including fried cauliflower and mujaddara. And as far as cuisine goes, it’s worlds better than Amsterdam falafel a few blocks down: the McDonald’s of the crowded Davis Square Middle-Eastern food scene, coasting on the mass appeal of their fries.

It’s such a shame to rate the shawarma place with only 3 stars. I’m a fan of their chicken kabob plate and wrap. Their hot sauce is spicy as hell & delicious, but if you’re feeling extremely lazy, in a hungover state, on a cold day you’ll be out of luck ordering from here. Despite my better logic, their delivery service is a $ 2 charge that I gave into. Everytime that I’ve ordered from here a wait time of an hour from your order was given(ordered via foodler). But, an hour goes by and another half an hour until you call them up asking where they food is or if they have any status update. Stating that the driver is on his way, I further inquired about time, 5? 10? 15 minutes? I was told that he was less than 5 minutes away, and yet another 10 minutes go by before I finally get a phone call with my order. An almost 2 hour wait for food I ordered at 11 am. Really disappointing that they couldn’t even give me the courtesy to call and tell me my order was going to be delayed or late. Save your cash, either get a takeout order/eat in or don’t bother at all.

This is a really hard review to write because I’ve ordered from this place 3 times and the third time was probably my last. Here are some impressions: Pros: 1. Their chicken shawarma is one of the best I’ve ever had. Cons: 1. None of their other dishes are particularly great. Their falafels are dry and kind of tasteless. The beef/lamb shawarma tastes primarily like beef, I suspect there’s no lamb in there at all. Regardless, it’s very average. 2. Delivery SUCKS! The first two times I ordered through GrubHub they took 45 minutes(as promised) to deliver the food. The third time however, was hell. I waited for 2 hours and called GrubHub 3 times to see what the status was. After 2 hours, GrubHub informed me that the restaurant claimed they called me and left the food at the food because I didn’t pick up. I definitely did not receive a call from them and I checked my door every half hour so that’s just not true. I would understand if the order was lost or if they needed some extra time to get their act together… but they didn’t do that. They took the classless route and blamed it on the customer with lies. I would have gone back to them for their delicious chicken shawarma, but their lies lost my business.

Went today and got the falafel roll-up. The place was kinda dirty. Out front and behind the counter. The chickpeas weren’t cooked all the way. They were raw and crunchy in the roll-up. It had good flavor. Just eating raw beans is not a very good experience.

The delivery was over 30. minutes later than expected, and the food was terribly bland and not particularly fresh. I don’t think I will be wasting my money here again.

(First time here, long time shawarma eater) I ordered the Meat Combo Plate, and two falafel on the side. To the point: The meat(lamb shawarma, chicken shawarma, chicken kebab, beef kebab, beef kafta) — 1⁄5 stars. It was so dry and over cooked that it sucked the moisture out of my mouth. SUCH A SHAME, because the rest of the meal was amazing. If the meat wasn’t over cooked I would’ve given 5 stars. The Hummus — 4.5÷5 stars. Great hummus. Perfectly spiced. ¡Spoonworthy! I would consider myself a hummus connoisseur and this was a hit to me. The cucumber tomato salad — 4.5÷5 stars. On point on all levels. Acidic, fragrant, crisp, refreshing– everything you could ask for. The rice — 4⁄5 stars. Fluffy, warm, aldenté. The Falafel — 4.5÷5 stars. Really good, fresh flavors. Crisp, steamy, and fluffy all in the right places. In conclusion, I paid $ 15 for this plate. It would have been totally worth it if the meat was cooked perfectly, but… it wasn’t. When I think shawarma I think juicy, hot, and succulent. This was dry, warm, and chewy. I wanted to be a regular, but I don’t think it’s going to happen.

Love this place. I am about as good at eating as Joey Chestnut’s underachieving little brother(that means I’m good at eating) and for $ 10 I can get fresh kebab that fills me up and leaves no room for dessert. The owners are incredibly nice and friendly and very enjoyable to talk to while I’m waiting for my meal.

Shawarma. Just saying it out loud makes you feel like your mouth is making out with itself. Sha-WAR-ma.(Slutty.) The Shawarma Place nails its namesake, which is a good thing, because if you name your business The Shawarma Place, you better nail the shawarma. Sha-WAHHHRRRRR-ma. Lamb and beef shawarma(more chipped than thin sliced) wrap($ 8) packs the toasted crisp roll-up, with garlic sauce, a little tahini, L & T. Had to wait a few as they ran out of wraps, and they assuaged the pangs with a comp falafel sample. Their hummus wins! Falafel gold still goes to Amsterdam, although this milder recipe plays a bit more traditional. Had to sit and watch Brittany H and Jason J attack a mountain of mixed combo — lamb and chicken — meat atop golden fries(hers)/ample rice(his), a light salad of tossed greens, and that excellent hummus. The plates runs $ 4 – 5 more than the wrap, but the quantity is an order of magnitude. A whole number of magnitude — no 1.2x here. It’s insane. Wrapped up my hearty-in-its-own serving sandwich, and had a smidge of room left for a savory cashew finger(think baklava minus a cup of honey, add the ‘shews). An easy five just because I couldn’t stop saying, «This is really good.» It’s like when I watched Birdman. The Shawarma Place = Birdman.

Not going to lie — we were craving shawarma after watching The Avengers. So off we go to Grubhub to order from somewhere that would deliver on Easter Sunday. But… somehow our order got lost in the ether, and we didn’t get our food. Several tries to call the restaurant, and the phone kept ringing out. We ended up having to call Grubhub to fix it, and they were the ones who threw in something extra for the inconvenience, not the restaurant. Our food eventually arrived over an hour late. –2 for the fact that they didn’t answer their phones despite multiple attempts. When the food finally got here, it was pretty darn good. The helpings are huge! We both got the meat combo plate, which has beef and chicken shawarma, lamb kebob, and kofta. Top it off with some excellent hummus and you’ve got yourself a might fine meal. +2 for the food. Despite the hiccup ordering, it looks like this will be the new favourite shawarma joint.

The Shawarma Place is my favorite in Boston. I’ve been here many times and am always really happy with what I get. Right off the bat I noticed how friendly they were. My first visit, never having tried shawarma before, I was lost with what to order. The guys were super nice, explained everything on the menu, and made recommendations. They even let me sample a few things. And then I became obsessed and came almost every Sunday. What I love: –Shawarma — the beef, chicken, and lamb are all really good! I like the chicken best. –Hummus — pretty great flavor, good texture –Tahini sauce! Yum! –Pickled vegetables are pretty amazing here. I’ve actually come a couple times just for a big tupperware of them. They always laugh but they’re just so good! –Foul Madamas. Lots of beans, extra soupy, great flavor. I’ve been to a bunch of shawarma places and this one is still my favorite. Anytime I try a different place, I always think«well that was good, but The Shawarma Place is still my #1.» Just go!

The Shawarma Place is fantastic. It’s an inconspicuous hole in the wall but it has quality food and huge portions. I’ve had the meat combo(comes with lamb and beef shawarma, kofta, chicken shawarma, and grilled chicken) time and time again and it never disappoints. You can get your combo with either rice or fries and it comes with a salad, pickled veggies, hummus, and pita. The sandwiches are also a solid choice, they come filled with the meat of your choice and pickled veggies; they grill the pita so that it’s nice and toasty. The kebab sandwich has fries in it, can’t beat that. The falafel here is so good too, they’re so beefy(not literally) and super filling. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone that loves middle eastern food or wants to try it. Everything is great and there are many choices for both vegetarians and carnivores.

This place is pretty bomb. Great deal for the amount of food and super tasty meat. I got the meat combo plate and it was fantastic. Only thing was I took longer than normal to finish because I was chatting with someone, and after the food got a little cold as I was finishing up it wasn’t as good. The meat had hardened and dried up a bit. But this place is solid. If you want good, cheap food, check it out.
