Nice, friendly restaurant. I had the larb salad, which I’m told is Thai street food. A fairly small establishment, which makes for attentive service. It’s near the Whole Foods Market in this shopping center.

A great little Thai restaurant in Sonoma. The staff is courteous and helpful. The atmosphere is authentic. And the food is absolutely delicious! The spicy lemongrass prawns are a particular specialty. All-in-all, a wonderful, family-oriented Thai restaurant with excellent cuisine and a bright, cheery ambiance.

My standard order is always Larb Gai, the street food so popular in Thailand. Larb is a minced salad. This was different than the standard larb, but not unpleasant. It was light on the fish sauce, mint, chiles and lemongrass, but adds a red bell pepper for kick. I was there just for a quick solo meal. The place was about ¾ full on a weekday evening.

We ordered food to go. The chicken satay was ok. It was a smaller portion than what I’m accustom to. The peanut sauce was delicious. The Tom Kha soup was good, tasted very fresh although it was different with onions and tomatoes in it. The Pad Thai was not good as it lacked flavor and the noodles were overcooked. This might be attributed to it being takeout and not eaten until we got back to the hotel.

Friendly service and consistent. I’d say this is very average Thai food with nothing really standout that I have tried yet. I had basil chicken last time and I thought the portion was very small, since I found myself making another dinner later on. I also don’t like how they use big pieces of uncooked onion in the soup and the basil chicken.

This is the worst restaurant ever. My salad has 4 pieces of lettuce, 8 tiny pieces of calamari. And it was 15 dollars??? The owner needs to wake up. Never going here again.

Update. Gave it another chance and actually tried the food. YAY! but oh no, the Thai food isn’t that great. If you’re craving Thai and you’re in Sonoma, sure check it out. However, know that Sonoma has great high end restaurants and great Mexican but falls short everywhere else…

I was in the area and really wanted Thai food. We were doubting this place but went ahead and tried it. The food was great! The pricing is decent for a Thai place and my go to is always the Pad See Ew with chicken at any Thai restaurant. Of course I had to try it here, it was very good, had enough sauce and not too spicy. The fried rice was delicious too, I kept stealing some off my guests plate… I do feel that the portions are on the small side. I usually can eat just my entrée and feel satisfied or not finish it all. This time we ordered egg rolls as an appetizer and we both ate all of our food wanting more after or some type of dessert. Service was good they came by and checked up on us and asked if we needed anything else /water refill. Would definitely come back if I were in the area. Super easy parking and right next to Whole Foods.

It is good but the rice and entrée sizes for take out are ridiculously small. I was disappointed in the nut noodles which were watery. I did enjoy the chicken satay and spring rolls — the peanut sauce is delicious and the curries are very satisfying.

Grabbed take out from here for one night in Sonoma to take a break from dining out. The pineapple fried rice was just not good, rice very mushy and no flavor. Ordered both the beef and chicken pad thai– just ok but not quite satisfying. For the price it is a good amount of food if you are looking for quantity and not quality

The pineapple fried rice is still pretty good, however the pad se-ew was a crime against the country of Thailand. I have shoes with softer leather than the beef I was served, and there was essentially no flavor at all… Pretty disappointed with my second visit here, huge drop off in the quality of the meal. On a positive note, they took the pad se-eewwww off the check. +1 star back for courtesy.

I am updating my review from 5 stars to 2stars . This place used to be my favorite place, i am willing to drive from Napa to eat here! But… i went for lunch and my salad was so dry and not enough dressing, so i ask the waittress for more dressing, she came back… she said WECANNOTADDMOREDRESSING !! ALSO she said NEXTTIMEASKFORMOREDRESSING… I told her… how can i eat this salad with no dressing? she told me again. just ask for more dressing next time you order… Anyway …i did not finished the salad .she didnt offer to take it out from the bill. I still pay the full amount .They just lost their loyal customer.

My mother, my nephew & I had dinner at Bangkok 9 tonight and were certainly pleased with both the food and the service. My mother loved her Pad Thai with crispy tofu, I really liked my barbecued chicken and my nephew was very pleased with his red curry. The satay chicken and cucumber salad appetizers were good as was the peanut sauce. We will definitely return when we can… good review so far!

When I saw the positive reviews and the menu, I was happy to find what looked to be a decent Thai food restaurant. However I was severely disappointed. The order was incorrect and my dish that I commonly order, Pad See Ew, was one of the lower quality ones I’ve tasted. There were some questionable bites and the meat had some weird textures from piece to piece. My wife’s chicken satay was rubbery. She also ordered brown rice and received white rice. I could have easily done without this experience.

We went here dinner after our wine tasting due to some weird thai foods craving. I wasn’t expecting much in term of the quality of foods since I am picky about thai foods. The foods were not bad. I ordered the typical pad thai and it was actually not bad. My friend got the tom yum soup and red curry and both were not bad. A pleasant surprise for me. I would come back for thai the next time I’m in Sonoma.

my first time and loved it. i visited Bangkok 9 when visiting a friend living in sonoma. we had a relaxing dinner with some great thai food. we tried the yammeunsen, thai beef soup(thai phở), thai fried rice, ground pork with basil and panang curry. that was for two of us and we managed to finish all the item but the panang. the service was great and the food was good. our server checked up on us periodically to see if we wanted to add any more items or drinks. the restaurant was clean and well organized. it is hard to find yammeunsen salad from the thai restaurants around where i live and was surprised to find it here in sonoma. next time i probably will pass on the panang. the coconut flavor was way too much, at least too strong for me.

This is my go to Thai place in Sonoma. They always, always, always, have great won ton soup… the broth is so tastey. Usually not too packed, I can just walk in and sit or order out. Good Pad Thai, nice spices.

Called E-Saan. No answer. Supposedly open, so I drove on over. Now closed on Tuesdays… search for other Thai cuisine nearby through Unilocal, and Bangkok 9 closed in 4 minutes! I called and apologetically asked if they could still do a to-go order. The gentleman on the phone was very pleasant and made me feel better about being one of the dopey last minute customers that I try never to be. Shrimp pad thai, spring rolls, and shrimp friend rice were all on point, and the sauces they provided had a hearty kick, especially the one with jalapenos, but it was still in balance with the food and just the right amount to get my cheeks sweating, but still enjoy the meal. Great service, friendly, and very well composed dishes. Will 100% return and drive the extra few miles for it!

Thank god for Bangkok 9. We moved back to Sonoma 1 ½ ago and have been checking out local restaurants one by one. After having a terrible experience at Esaan on Hwy 12 I thought we were out of luck for Thai food in Sonoma. Then we went to the newly located Bangkok 9. Great fresh food, there were four of us and everyone loved their meal. Our order was timely and all at once, good value for the money and the staff were friendly and helpful. This is our new go to place for Thai:)

She has done it again. Wonderful flavors. Portions are not as large as in some other Thai places, but this is the best in Sonoma. Service was OK, not stellar. People were very nice but seem to still be in training. The room is very loud. Sound deadening would be appreciated. It was hard to hear the other six at our table. We love Thai and it is a long drive to Novato or Petaluma to find better Thai. We will be back… Maybe they will earn another star!
