Best place ever for a peaceful treatment, within the beautiful grounds of MacArthur Place. Lovely Spa staff too. No airs or superficiality here. Lovely facilities, an amazing steam room and a warm non chemical smelling pool. Flowers surround you as you relax by the pool, with food & drink service from Saddles restaurant available before and after your treatment. A sweet little store offers a wonderful selection of gifts and pampering items. We’ve been coming here for over 12 years now, and we know how lucky we are compared to some spas in the area that have less of a friendly and local feel. No corporate energy here, just a local nice vibe. This place is beautiful, relaxed, and caring. All around perfection.

My husband and I booked a couples massage at MacArthur Spa during our birthday weekend in Sonoma. Hotel guests have access to their pool, whirlpool and spa services. We checked in a few minutes prior to our massage appointment time and helped ourselves to the free cookies, tea and spa water. I like the tea assortment they carry at their spa. The change room had a locker room, a spa robe, spa sandals and shower area. The change rooms are very neatly maintained and they were comfy and cozy. They also have a co-ed sauna, but wasn’t too impressed with that. We got ourselves into our spa robes and waited for our masseuse to escort us into the massage rooms. The massage room looked very relaxing with dim light, candles and melodious music. They carry a wide variety of essential oils and you pick what you want. I was in a mood for lavender that day. The massage was extremely relaxing. Didn’t want it to get over, but sigh… We spent the next few hours relaxing on the lazy chairs by the pool. If you are up for a drink or a snack, there’s a poolside menu as well. Definitely a luxurious and relaxing experience. Highly recommend MacArthur Spa.

I had a fabulous time at the spa yesterday. I got the Baby and Me service for 100 minutes, starting with lavender scrub, and finishing with prenatal massage. The scent was so soothing, and Sarah was amazing. I didn’t want to leave! I frequent get massages every month locally but this was definitely one of the best! The spa facility could use some updating(quite small) but it’s a family owned hotel and had a very intimate and private feel to it, which I liked. The shampoo and body shampoo that are offered in every room at the hotel are only available at this location, locally grown organic stuff, and smell sooo good. They sell them at the spa and I’m thinking of bring some home with me;) I can’t wait to come back!

Massage was great — I would go back just for that. The pool was tiny and the facilities could use a little updating.

I love a great spa experience and the spa at MacArthur Place Hotel was a vey very excellent experience. Jess is among the best facialists I’ve had anywhere in the world. Highly recommended! Then enjoy a relaxing time at the beautifully landscaped pool.

This place was amazing. Worth every penny. My wife and I went here to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. We checked into the spa a couple hours before our treatment and laid out in the sun and enjoyed their pool and Jacuzzi. The pool side service was great and drinks are very affordable for such a nice hotel. The day just kept getting better when the spa service started. You get your own private locker and great robe. The waiting area is separate from the entrance and my wife loved the free cookies and the water was delicious… yes, the water. My wife and I got the Champagne and Roses treatment which was great. Kristen was my masseuse and she was the best I’ve ever had(and I get monthly massages). TOPNOTCH. My wife and I didn’t want to leave! It really felt like a vacation away from home and this was literally 20 minutes from our house. I can not wait to go back.

The Spa at MacArthur Place is heavenly. My mom, sister and I all went up for a much needed spa day and this did not disappoint. We got the ‘Spoil Yourself’ package which included a 50 minute massage, a 50 minute facial, a spa gift and lunch for $ 250. Honestly, I think this was a stellar price for the treatments alone. Jill did my facial and she was absolutely wonderful, she did a fantastic job on my face and was very informative! My face felt and looked amazing after, I will definitely be making an appointment with her again. Tracy was my masseuse and she was wonderful as well. I told her my problem areas were my back and shoulders(yay for sitting at a desk all day) and she focused in on that and made me feel so much better. She also was very respectful of me not wanting to chat much, sometimes I feel like masseuses want to talk then whole time when really I just want to zone out and relax. Tracy did a phenomenal job. After we had our treatments we hung out by the pool which was really nice. We were able to order our lunch from the servers walking around and never had to leave our lounge chairs. Food and wine were served right there which was really great! It’s a smaller pool but it’s also private which is perfect as it’s quite and very relaxing. Overall it was an A+ experience and I cannot wait to go back!

My wife and I had a great stay at MacArthur Place and decided to treat ourselves to a cocktail by the pool and a massage… we are so glad we did! The pool is small and simple as others have noted but, we loved it and thought it was just perfect. They have a great poolside menu — awesome beer selection! My wife loved the spa shop(too much!) Most importantly, we both had EXCELLENT massages and we loved the co-ed sauna.

I had the most relaxing girls day here on Saturday July 5! After searching for a spa location that was not booked for the weekend my girl friend’s and I found the perfect spot at the Garden Spa At Macarthur Place. The location was beautiful, a quaint little hotel with the cutest suites. The girls and I had a great time sitting poolside, eating lunch and waiting for our appointments for massages and facials. What I liked most was that we weren’t staying at the hotel but they treated us as if we were. The pool area is on the smaller side but I think that’s what gives this place character is the fact that it is on the smaller side. Of course meals and drinks are a little pricey, but what do you expect in Sonoma at a hotel /spa location. Service was great and my appointment for a facial was very relaxing.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the beautiful MacArthur Place for his birthday so, I wanted to treat him to a great massage. We both love massages and have had lots of them… the last few were not great so, I was nervous about booking someplace new. I had a great massage by Christie G(I guess there are two Christies) really, really awesome. My boyfriend said he loved his massage by Victoria too and I was so glad because he is picky too! We even called back later to make sure we got their names correct so we can request them next time. The pool is small and simple but, we enjoy the kid free peace and quiet and the setting is beautiful. We also enjoyed the spa shop — lots of great products and really cute clothes and jewelry! We can’t wait to go back!

For all those wanting an experience of large Napa spa – then go to Napa! Sonoma isn’t about gargantuan luxury hotels and has strived as a community to provide an exceptional experience for tourists while maintaining its modesty. Especially Mac Arthur Place which is built on an old Victorian manner – so if you’re looking for an olympic-size lap pool and an extensive facility you’re obviously missing the point of charm and history. With that said this is one of the best spas I’ve ever been to. It’s quaint, comfortable, has exceptional products and thoroughly trained providers. I highly recommend the lavender dreams treatment. While gorgeous it’s not pretentious which perfectly captures the very essence of a town like Sonoma.

Incredible massage! Therapist put so much effort into working out my kinks. Cute boutique and an awesome pool surrounded by a rose garden to lounge around. I will definitely be back!

Huge thanks to Tiffany, spa director, for making our large group event a success. The ladies at the reception desk that were there that day were so lovely and accommodating to our chatty clan. Everyone enjoyed their massages, polish/wraps, and facials. The spa was well-maintained and very clean as expected. Steam room was great. All massage therapists and estheticians working that day did a great job for all our 19 sessions!

this review is for the spa /massage only, i did not stay there as a guest, but only went for the massage appointment. The spa facility is very limited and small. There was hardly any amenities, compared to the other spa places in Napa. The outdoor pool is small. There is one co-ed steam room, locker room is tiny, waiting area is more of a foyer and doesn’t have comfortable chairs to recline on. I booked a massage, the masseur was a young guy who seemed inexperienced. There were spots where he should’ve put more pressure and other places less pressure, he did not seem to understand that. Sometimes it hurt, other times I wish he had put in more pressure or focus on the area a little longer. I do not think this place serves high quality massages and the spa experience was bare minimal, the price is still high. It was $ 118 for a 45 min. aromatic massage, it’s not worth trying it out.

My friend bought me a 100 minute massage at this spa and it was fantastic. Alicia, my masseuse was great. She really listened and addressed all my neck and back areas. The steam room is co-ed, so you want to be sure to bring your swimsuit with you if you plan to take a steam.

I had a very relaxing 50 minute massage with Victoria. I found the massage therapist to be very skilled and enjoyed the overall ambiance of the spa. The level of music and heat were just right and massage room was quaint but nice. I didn’t have time for the sauna and the weather was rainy so I didn’t use the pool area either. I would recommend Garden Spa to anyone visiting Sonoma. It’s not quite the spa that Sonoma Mission Inn has, but it’s still lovely.

Usually when one leaves one’s undergarments on during a massage, it means ‘this is how much I’m comfortable with’…well, I guess they don’t understand that at MacArthur Place. This does not make for a relaxing massage. While waiting for your treatment, you’re left in a small area right near the front desk and shopping area. It’s very awkward to sit in your robe while someone is shopping right next to you. The steam room is co-ed(so bring a towel) and not steamy… it’s more like a warm room. The pool area is the hotel pool. It would be nice if the spa had it’s own pool/hot tubs. I’ve been to other spas in Sonoma, which are much nicer, more relaxing, and more beautiful.

The spa is warm and welcoming. I love the ambiance. We had a couples massage, it was ok. I’d still go back for the co-ed sauna. My hubby and I lounged. It was amazing.
