Wow, what a cute little tasting room in the town square of Sonoma. The vibe is very hipster, and the bar isn’t very large. There’s a nice fireplace which was welcoming on a chilly January day. All of the wines we tasted were excellent. The bottles are definitely on the pricey side, and most bottles aren’t even available to the public — only if you join the wine club. If we had the funds, we probably would have joined since the wine is so good. Tastings are $ 15 per person and came with about 4 or 5 tastings.

Matt and Douglas are the f bomb best!!! Come here if you want fantastic wine great convo and a classic downtown Sonoma experience. Our convos range from historical facts to free winery coupons lol they are so down to earth! If they had a room in the back I would stay here. If you’re looking for a laid back yet sophisticated wine and great chill convo come here… dear management thanks for hiring Matt and Douglas they are an asset to the company and a Stellar reason to join the wine Club! I visited competitive wineries in the area but they are the best! Personality, good wine, and candor convos… who can ask for more !!!

Doug made it a really great experience for us. It also probably helped that the bf and I are big soccer fans/players, so speaking with Doug was right up our alley. After a certain point about 2 wines in, he realized we were doing more soccer talk than wine talk, so he switched modes and gave us the whole shebang on all the wines we were tasting. Extremely knowledgeable and seems like the Hawkes family really cares about their wines and takes care of their employees. Doug was very passionate, and we liked the wines here, but didn’t end up buying anything. Great experience overall though.

I came here with a group of 6 on a early afternoon while visiting from Florida for a conference. The gentleman that helped us was extremely patient and kind to us considering our group was large and indecisive. It was nice that we were able to walk in and were helped right away. The atmosphere is very relaxed and has modern décor. The wines are quality and you get a discount on the tasting if you buy a bottle. My favorite was the merlot. I definitely recommend this spot if you’re in the area and want a fantastic tasting. The gentleman that helped us also did not create an environment which you felt pressured to buy buy buy which i appreciated(left with two bottles anyway lol). Plus The Girl and the Fig is a mere walk from this business. You can kill two birds with one stone on this trip !

Husband & I came in here on a whim because it was 95 outside & this place had AC so yup. The tasting room is casual & cozy. Tasting was $ 10 per person. I’m really glad we came in here because it felt like friends hanging out over a glass of wine. Great wines, great people. Thanks Doug & Buddy for hanging out w us! P. S. The bathroom has a fully functional shower.

I liked this place, but didn’t «love.» The wines were good, but most of the ones we liked best were only offered to members. And I didn’t like their wine enough to become a member, soooo… I guess it was a good thing we were with friends who were!

We walked across the street from Walt Wines to try Hawkes. It was getting pretty late, but they stay open later than most tasting rooms in the area. I am unsure if it was a factor of just the time and that they were closing up shop soon, but the flow of the room seemed very strange. They had the bar from which they were pouring, a nice front area along the street with lounge chairs and nice landscaping, as well as a sitting area inside. Since the bar was quite full all the way across, and we weren’t in too much of a rush, we grabbed our glasses and headed outside. Given that they were pretty busy, we did have to go inside to get our pours, which may or may not be their policy anyway. Overall, not a bad experience. The wines are mostly only available for purchase by members since they’re a small producer, with 2 – 3 exceptions. Neither of us were blown away by the wines — all cabs, I believe — but they weren’t bad.

Cute cute little place… husband and I were seriously considering joining their wine club. Very little production so most of the good stuff is only sold to wine club members =(. Their single vineyard cabernets were delicious and their olive oil is tasty. They have a more fruity rich olive oil and my favorite a lighter peppery olive oil. Lots of off the beaten path little wineries in this neighborhood.

Located right behind Girl and the Fig on the square in Sonoma, sits Hawks tasting room. With an adorable outdoor tasting area with planters and planters of flowers the main focus here is Cabernet. Price points are in the moderate level which may surprise some given they are good but still need finnessing.

Just a short stroll from the Sonoma square, Hawkes is a casual, quaint wine tasting room. It appears to be renovated from a home as there is a full bathroom(shower included) just off the main tasting area and a front yard. You can enjoy your wine tasting inside or outside and they will come outside to pour your tastings. Hawkes is known for their Cabernet Sauvignon but I didn’t try any that struck my fancy and warranted a purchase.

This tasting room seems really popular, as everytime we visit, it is pretty packed. They specialize in alexander valley wines, particularly cabs. The cabs are good, but I have had better at the same price points from other sonoma county cab producers. Their star wine in my book is their Merlot. While I rarely purchase merlot, theirs is so delicious, that I go to the tasting room just for the merlot. It is very food friendly, so does not last long in our foodie household. Tasting fees are currently $ 10.00, waived with bottle purchased. Very friendly and attentive staff. Worth a visit! Hint, hint… try the Merlot!

Loved this winery, we stopped in and got to spend a lot of time hanging out with Doug who was working the tasting room. He was friendly informational not only about the wines at the winery but also spent a lot of time talking to us about wine in general which was very enjoyable. We were the only ones in there so we got a lot of attention and had a ton of fun just talking and trying the wines. The wines themselves were wonderful the cabs were my personal favorite, but all were pretty amazing. Lots of fun things to look at in the tasting room and the atmosphere was wonderful. If you are in town feel free to stop by.

Wonderful wine, wonderful people, wonderful place. The Cabs are the best. Especially the single vineyard Cabs. Worth the money. Thanks to the crew for the great experience. Capt. Gary

Liked this place alot! The servers were super friendly and were just awesome to talk to. They had a great knowledge of their wines and the wine industry in general. The wines were all awesome but I especially loved their Chardonnay. Unfortunately it was only available to purchase if you were a wine club member. What a bummer, I would have bought several bottles of that. This doesn’t really count in my review but I love their wine glasses and wine label!

Beautiful chardonnay and fantastic Cabs!!! — really great winery and love the label — am finding more and more gems in Sonoma vs up in «traditional Napa» — not that there aren’t great wines in Napa, of course there are, however it seem in Sonoma and with smaller run wineries, you get an attention to detail often lost in mass production — rare to go to a tasting and run thru them all AND like them all — Hawkes didn’t let us down! Bold and rich reds — LOVED their Cabs(am finding more and more rich, full flavored Cabs in Sonoma!) — the Chardonnay was equally fantastic — steel barrel vs oak gives such a clean finish to this wine! — Go enjoy plus the folks working there LOVE the wine equally!

Oh wine. What isn’t to love. We were directed to Hawkes by a connoisseur. The wine is beautiful and sophisticated. We did a tasting tour consisting of about 8 wineries. Hawkes takes home the gold medal for more than just great wine. Our Hawkes wine pro, Douglas, was incredibly accommodating, friendly, approachable, knowledgeable, unpretentious, and funny. He really made the experience unique. Not to mention the little bonus taste of an amazing 2006 Cab. The tasting room is charming and warm. I felt like I was tasting wines in a friends beautiful little cottage. Now for the brutally honest part: I’m not a wine expert. I’m so ashamed! BUT! If you’re like me, and wine is about the experience and ambiance just as much as the taste– Hawkes is awesome.

What a find! This winery was recommended by a neighboring vineyard, and it didn’t disappoint. Their vines were great, and they had a live music event going on. We got a bottle of their rose-type wine, and it was superb. Only $ 20 too! The live music event was awesome, and they had some delicious food to go with the wine. Burrata, anyone? Was soo good. I shall return!

I love the other Hawkes in Healdsburg(5 stars) so was very disappointed by this location — 2.5 stars. The positives: — Fairly good wines on their tasting menus — Skinny bread sticks/crackers when we were hungry — Nice outdoor, small sitting area — Nice bathroom The negatives: — $ 10 tasting fee for a very small tasting and can only waive the fee by purchasing 2 bottles of wine! — Not the friendliest employees the day we stopped by — Tasting room is fairly plain

This is a fantastic little tasting room behind the Girl and the Fig restaurant in Sonoma Square. They also have another tasting room next to Jimtown Store in Alexander Valley. The tasting fee is $ 10 for 4 wines. They have great Cabs here that have the ability to lay down for many years. There is a great patio out front with ample tables to support a nice picnic along with your tasting.
