All the hopmonk locations are gorgeous. This is no exception. The spiked sweet tea is my favorite here, and I like that it’s dog friendly. However, I’m docking a star because the steak in the steak frites was wayyy to chewy. Luckily the fries made up for it(a little).

Good food, friendly staff, entertaining live music just like the other location in Sebastopol… Always a good spot for lunch or dinner.

Outside courtyard is very fun. I thought the food was mostly good, I got the chili Verde and it was delicious. The other meals looks tempting as well and I was pleased with the appetizers as well. I would go back for sure if this was something you were interested in, a casual place for sure but fun

Please note that on Saturdays they are open till 10pm. Ambience and service was great. The sexy man and I were really pleased to find this place. Excellent selection of beer, and nice variety of food. We sat on the patio, which was quite lovely! Especially on a pleasant spring night. The pork verde is amazing!!! A must have. Best we have ever stumbled across so far. My man ordered the risotto, which really paled in comparison. It was pretty bland, and the presentation was greatly lacking. Reminded us the oatmeal of entrees. Ordered a side of shrimp, which saved it a bit. Mostly he helped himself to a fair chunk of my pork :-/ We will be back. Hopefully we can find a suitable entrée for the sexy man next time. Overall, a great restaurant!

This place had the best happy hour in sonoma! Great tacos! Try the pork tacos they are the best, I recommend the sausage and onions appitizer also. Have some wine on the patio and enjoy the atmosphere

I wanted to try a Sonoma restaurant to mingle with the locals. Service was very welcoming from the waitress. As most of the reviewers wrote, the food is nothing to write home about. Paella is eh. To be safe, I’d go with a burger next time.

Solid burger and beer joint. Fantastic selection of microbrews, full bar, and rather pedestrian wine list.

This place was great. The outdoor seating area is the best, and the food and beer selection was outstanding. And of course, plenty of wine to choose from. The menu is a nice mix of pub food, as well as some finer dining selections. My wife and I went with sandwiches and beers. Nice mix of ages as well. Anyone from 21 year olds, to groups of older people, to some hipsters with dogs, and anyone in between. I would definitely dine here again. My only gripe is that our waiter was kind of aloof and didn’t come back very often, even when the beer glasses were empty.

Friday Funday lunch with my friends is a great way to start the weekend. Lunch on the patio at Hop Monk is an even better way to start the weekend. The service here is great and the food is fresh and delicious. The appetizer menu has a four taco plate that I split with another person and then we split the beet salad. Both were great. The fish taco was a baja style battered fish taco. The fish was real fresh and the batter crisp. The Korean taco was flavorful and had a crisp slaw with cilantro on top. It actually was a really good portiona and perfect for splitting. Everyone was very happy with what they ordered and thought it was a great bang for the buck. I had the Hop Monk Hef and I loved it. I would love to come back for the live music and hang out for an afternoon.

The beers and the bar are fabulous. I have been here several times and give 3 stars rather than 5 because every time I visit, whether for take out or dine in on the lovely patio, servers switch, and orders are not quite right. There is a communication breakdown between servers and kitchen. I have also noticed a fishy smell near the hostess stand. Maybe from the fish and chips, or restrooms, but it’s just wrong. At my most recent visit, «Lauren» is listed as our server but someone else served the food. A few more people served water and bussed plates. While ordering, we asked to split the kale salad and share the burger. The kale salad came on separate plates which was thoughtful but we asked for dressings, different dressings, on the side. Instead, 2 dressings were combined and tossed, then split onto 2 plates. Weird. We had to send the salads back. One time I ordered the kale salad to go, and when I arrived home, it was a box of dry kale with 1 plastic container of dressing, but no peanuts. To their credit, I called and spoke with management, and they removed the charge for the food. I think if the right hand knows what the left hand is doing here, service and food will be much better.

This place is nice for large groups. There are several long bench/picnic tables outside on the patio with hanging lights. Very picturesque for a summer evening with friends. I would probably only come back here for drinks. The food was just meh. We also had to wait 20 – 30 minutes for our drinks, then another 20 – 30 for the food. I got the taco 4 pack and avocado slaw. The tacos were ok — the korean style beef was good. The fish taco was gross. The fish was mainly just batter and it was small and shriveled. Everything tasted very fried. The avocado slaw was basically coleslaw with an «avocado dressing» that tasted nothing like avocado. I wish there were actual avocado chunks in it. The tomato soup was very good though(my friend ordered the grilled cheese w/tomato soup). And the pot of mussels was apparently good too. The grilled cheese did not look that great. Everything looked slightly burned. Overall, I would say this is a great place for hanging out with friends and grabbing drinks, but I will not be returning for dinner. Also, it is dog friendly!

Do not order jambalaya! I tried it last night and I didn’t like. It was not flavorful. The dish was missing key ingredients. Overall customer service was great. The ambience feels cozy and warm. The food needs more flavor.

Good beer selection, nice staff. Do yourself a favor and go during the week. Weekends are too busy. Outdoor patio is nice. Good os good, just had the burger with white cheddar. Good fries too. Also try the four taco sampler on the starter menu. Two mini fish tacos which are tasty and two short rib Asian style tacos which are really good. Messy but really good.

Cool place, but service and food were lacking, slightly. Our server was busy, so I didn’t hold it against her, but we had to ask for just about everything. Plates for our appetizer, more water, our bill etc. The food came out mildly warm with very hot plates, which tells me it sat under a warmer for quite some time… the same amount of time that we were wondering where our food was. Overall, I wouldn’t say I won’t go back here, but it’s not going to be my top priority.

Definitely a cool place with the long lunch tables, outdoor seating, and inside bar area. I went here for a late lunch and tried the turkey burger. It was pretty decent but the garlic fries could have been better for the additional charge you have to pay. It was just too over done and I couldn’t taste much flavor. I do like that they have additional BBQ sauces out for you but it seemed watered down. Super runny when I tried to put it on my plate, I couldn’t’ even dip my fries in it. Seems like they have a good unique selection of food and good selection of beer. Service was alright, the guy we had kept walking away before we could even finish our sentences when asking him for something. I don’t know if it was because it was hot out and he wanted to go back inside or what. No one refilled our water so we ended up just asking them for a pitcher to do it ourselves since the water glasses were on the small side.

Nice place to grab a beer and good pub food in Sonoma. I was here on a Friday night so there was live music. The band was good. But if you don’t want to be too close to the music, there is plenty of seating away from the stage. The artichokes were simple and perfectly cooked. I really enjoyed the pumpkin soup, especially with the toasted seeds and balsamic glaze. But the Oreo sandwich dessert was perfect way to end the meal. Oh I also has the sweet tea cocktail which was perfect — not so sweet.

I’ve been here a few times, most recently over Thanksgiving weekend. The beer list was solid, and the vibes were amazing, but the food and service were just okay. I had the greek salad which wasn’t that special. My husband had the pumpkin soup, which he was okay with. Our dinner guest had the Hop Monk burger and garlic fries, which looked AWESOME. The fries were covered in raw garlic, which I’m a huge fan of. That atmosphere was wonderful. The sun was setting and we sat out back under a clear tent, surrounded by lights, candles, and a film crew filming(I think) a music video on the stage. I haven’t been there for a show, but I can imagine it would be fun. The service was okay, but our poor server looked and acted like she had recently experienced some sort of tragedy. She made it through our meal without a breakdown, but there were some rough moments.

We had a wonderful first visit to HopMonk instead of our usual haunt, Lagunitas. We had our dogs with us since we were coming home from the beach so I called HopMonk and asked if it was okay if we brought them, the hostess was very friendly and made us a reservation. My only advice to the hostess is to note that maybe it’s best if you don’t seat dogs directly next to dogs. While our Lab was just hanging out there was a lady next to us with a Lil Yipper who kept letting everyone know he existed. The lady kept telling me, «he just wants to say HI!» and I smiled and said«I don’t think that would be a good idea». The staff was very welcoming and worked around the dogs. I wish I had known it was a dirt flooring outside. It was dusty and I kept trying to get the dogs to not move because I feared they might dust their neighbors! I loved our food here. Calamari and fish and chips were fresh and nicely fried and well seasoned. The tartar sauce for the fish and chips and side cole slaw were perfection! We also loaded up on a few of their adult Sweet Tea drinks — forgot the name — oh my, these are deadly. Loved the beer selection as well. Really solid meal and drinks. It was pretty pricy though… our meals and drinks came out to around $ 125 without tip.

It’s not ALL wine in Sonoma. Sometimes it’s beer and when you want to make that choice, step a block or two off the Sonoma Square and head to HopMonk. Plentiful seating inside but if the weather’s nice, get one of the outside tables and enjoy the sunshine with your brew. Great list of pub food at HopMonk. Two of my friends went with the Chicken Philly on Naan bread and they both loved it. I kept it light and just had the blue cheese wedge salad which was awesomely tasty with lots of cherry tomatoes and onions plus a nice sized piece of iceberg covered in dressing. I cleared the plate. Despite being a raucous party of six, our waitress did a fab job of keeping our beers refilled and our checks separate. Good times. Good food.
