I’ve been getting my smog checks at Steve’s for years, even my street-​legal track car. They’re friendly and professional.

I just had the easiest, most convenient smog check/​certification I’ve ever had in my life. I was able to call and get a same day appointment. I have been going to Steves Smog for over 3 years now and if I could give it 10 stars I would! I have had work done with the previous owner who was great and the new owner is just as great! Downright honest workers in this shop. Won’t sell you unnecessary services or parts, which is hard to come by especially if you are a woman and don’t know much about cars! This past week I took my car in at 9am on Friday cause it was overheating. Right away the owner looked at my car and found there was a crack on my radiator. He called me over to take a look and show me exactly where it was. He gave me a quote which was a very reasonable price, told me he would order the part right away and try his best to have it done by the end of the day. I had to be at work by 945 am and the receptionist was kind enough to offer me a ride to work and pick me up when the car was done. My car was ready by the end of the day. I am very happy with this Auto Shop and will continue to use their services!

Just dropped my car off here yesterday, for a required smog check. I didn’t have an appointment and I didn’t have to wait. I was seen right away. Everyone was extremely friendly and provided exceptional service. I wasn’t asked if I wanted additional unnecessary services, I felt they were honest and I will definitely be back. If you have any car issues, Steve’s Smog and Auto is the place to go!

Steve is awesome. Went in to make a smog appointment and he did a preliminary check right then. He explained what he was checking and what it meant. Told me what I needed to fix (get a gas cap, duh) then come back the next day. Dropped car off the next day and it was done within 45 min, even with all the other cars he had. I wish I still lived in Sonoma to be able to go to such a trustworthy guy.

Steve/Steve’s is the best.
Point #1: He’s honest and a straight shooter. If you don’t need belts replaced for another 10,000 miles, he won’t to try to sell you on getting that service. Case in point: TWO years ago a less respectable shop in town said I needed breaks 25,000 miles ago and wanted to charge me $ 350. I just got rear brakes done only with Steve at 85,000 miles and it was MUCH less.
Point #2: I bring my own oil and filter in and he gives me a sweet deal on a change. I brought the wrong oil in this time so he used his oil, returned mine and still gave me the deal, not charging me for the oil. Now that’s service!
Point #3: I’m never going anywhere else. Do yourself a favor and adopt him as your mechanic!

So far so good. Made an appointment. They were very quick and polite. I will add to my review as the process goes. I’m getting a smog done.

OK so I needed a local mechanic to replace my alternator and immediately came to Unilocal.Steve’s got such good reviews I went ahead and took my car there. The first indication of how good they are is how many cars were there as well as the age of their clients and the wide variety of makes & models. Wow! Steve got me a great price for a new alternator and same-​day service with a smile. Thanks to all of you that wrote reviews leading me to Steve’s, they will now be my local mechanics for as long as I live in Sonoma. I’m really pleased!

We are really glad we found this place! Trustworthy, knowledgeable and nice. I’ve had a smog check and a random check for what I thought was a leak. Turns out it was nothing and they explained everything to me.

Made appointment, arrived on time, had a bite of lunch at McDonalds and came back as the smog check was being completed. What more can you ask for? Prompt friendly service at a fair price.

I live in Sonoma and everytime I need a car repair or Smog Test, I go to Steve’s Smog.
So far, I have been really happy with the services provided and Steve’s rates are very fair. Sometimes, you feel you have been overcharged when it comes to car repairs but never had that feeling here.
Steve seems to be a nice and honest person and I will continue to go there. I actually have an appointment this afternoon!
