Best in Dogs

I love hot dogs, and Best In Dogs is a wonderful place to grab a classic dog while on the run, especially on a day when being crafty or productive brings me to Home Depot on 41^st St. The dogs are big, juicy and most important of all, they have that all-​important «bite,» that snap when you chomp down on the casing. I also like that the chili dog doesn’t cost any less than the plain dog. They have at least a half dozen varieties of mustard too! I do wish the chili had a bit more heat to it, but it is tasty, and can be spiked for more heat with a splash of hot sauce that is also available. I would like to try the house recipe tuna sandwich sometime too, but how can I pass up the dogs? Best In Dog’s I love that you’re there in a town where there’s a dearth of good hot dogs stands. (say what you will about L.A., but they DO have lots of great hot dog stands, not to mention street vendors.) Speaking of street vendors, you have to go all the way to West Side Santa Cruz to get a comparable dog at Gary’s Snappy Dog on Mission Street.
