Not great. My husband and I have been to almost every Thai place in the Santa Cruz area, and this one is not impressive. The pad Thai was dry and without flavor, and our green curries came spicier than we had requested, plus didn’t have a lot of flavor, nor did it come with eggplant, which is the highlight of green curry when it’s soft and buttery. The Tom Kah soup was alright, but like everything else, much better at other Thai restaurants. The spring rolls were probably the best thing I ordered there– the peanut sauce is good. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice.

Have eaten here many times and it seems to have gone down hill a little lately. Still enjoy the Tai salad as it is fresh and dressed properly, but the crispy duck was only ok. I have had the curry mango fish many times and it is pretty good as is the pineapple chicken. All in all it is worth a try.

Pretty happy with this. Is it the best Thai I have ever had? No. But it is pretty damn tasty. I ordered green curry and the spicy fries rice. Both extra spicy. They were both good, but they were not nearly spicy enough. All in all a good way to start my California week off

This I my favorite Thai place in town! Favorite dish hands down has to be the Topless Seafood. I have never had anyone try it and not love it. Also totally dig their green curry, tom ka kai, and my hubby loves the spicy noodles(which is basically drunken noodles).

The service was terrible. I was there at lunch time and they were less than half full but couldn’t be bothered. Each step of service was bad. Gave me to a table by the door. Finally took my order. Never asked if I’d like a drink even though the food was spicy and I could’ve really used a drink. No one noticed I finished. I decided to just leave some cash and go but I didn’t have the right change. Still waiting & being ignored I walked to the register and waited some more for someone to take my money. However the food was good, and I’ve been here many times over the years and the food was always good. I don’t know if the sushi bar is permamently closed or just not open at lunch.

Good Tom Ka and the spring rolls were very nicely done. I also had Ran Na with pork that I quite enjoyed. This place is perfect for when you plan to spend the evening at JJ’s across the street and need to get something in your tummy.

Love Thai at Star of Siam. The best Fresh Spring Rolls, Chicken Satay, & Panang Fish. Ginger iced tea is refreshing and spicy. Chicken Larb Salad is very good. We enjoy eating here for lunch when we are in Capitola. Our favorite Thai!

FABULOUS pumpkin red curry. Friend had some kind of noodles, also very good. Beautiful interior, kind of surprising considering the average exterior. Attentive service. Adorable families sitting all around.

Very great tasting lunch special. Spicy noodles with spring rolls. I’m obsessed with spicy food. This place had the flavor right. Coulda been alittle spicier though but then I should have asked for it to begin with. I’d definitely go back and explore their menu some more. Love me some good Thai food.

Best Thai food I’ve had to date hands down! Amazing and unique flavors and presentation. The crab lagoons were amazing, and the pineapple shrimp/chicken fried rice and mango tilapia were screamin’ too. We tried the tapioca which comes with hot coconut milk(O-M-G! amazing) and the fried bananas were the bomb as well(see pics). Great artwork, atmosphere and service as well.

Even when I lived in Soquel I had never stopped by this place. The exterior looks a bit tacky and run down. Going by last night I noticed the sign was gone so I thought the place changed hands. But going in I saw how nicely it was decorated and the menus proved it was still the Star of Siam. We ordered a hot pot of tom kha. Nice presentation and very tasty soup. For entrees tofu with cashews and seafood combination noodles. Both very good and filling. The service started out great but by the time we were finished we had to flag down a waiter to get the bill. Mings def has some competition in Soquel.

Best Thai Food in Santa Cruz! The most enjoyable experience with top notch service, everyone here is so genuine and sweet! The whole place has an excellent vibe. Highly recommend the Tom Kha soup, and my boyfriend is hooked on the Yellow Chicken Curry. YUM!

Nice shop inside though the side closer to the street has a pretty unattractive view out the window. Service was friendly. Place smelled awesome. Pad thai was a little citrusy for me but pretty good. The BBQ pork was fantastic. Fried shrimp spring rolls were good, similar to what I’ve had at other places. All around a very good Thai restaurant. Would be among my top three in Davis(which I mention only for comparison — Davis is densely populated with Thai restaurants). A great restaurant plopped in the middle of the small stretch of town that is the main strip in Soquel.

We came to Santa Cruz in hopes to find some good Thai. We first tried another spot but parking was no where to be found… so we tried Unilocal for another suggestion and we found The Star of Siam! We immediately ordered the radnah with pork and told our waitress we were really hungry! She put it in straight to the chef, and within minutes we had steamy delicious food on our table! We complimented the waitress on how quickly the food came and she immediately smiled and said,“I told Chef you really hungry.“ We also ordered two lunch specials with egg rolls and Chicken Sattay. The BBQ chicken surprised me on how great it tasted! It was as authentic as it could be. The chicken Sattay also stood out! It had a great lemongrass flavor! The pad Thai came with a fantastic peanut sauce. The noodles on the rhadnah were a little soggy, but only my own preference is to be a bit crispier. Every one is different on that! The waitress was very sweet and service was quick! 4 stars and I’d totally come again! Unilocal 12⁄100
